Impulse 1995 #70
I'm deceased. Carol's goddamn face oh my god. She is SHOOK
after the events of impulse 95, matt and mike ringer move in with helen and dox.
preston, being a good friend to bart who moved away and left his dog, makes a point of showing up at their house at least four times a week to make sure they're treating dox right.
of course, there is the added benefit of seeing mike.
anyway, long story short, bart comes back to manchester after a few years to not only find that mike and preston are dating, but also.
they fucking stole his dog.
Impulse (1995) #59
There so much in this shot I love.
Ayana - hopelessly crushing on Bart Mike - Hopelessly crushing on Carol Carol - Wondering what sorts of feelings she should have about Cissie Cissie - Wondering why Carol is lookin' at her like that Bart and Preston - exchanging fucking rings for this dance and it's very gay looking
Wade - being the aroace rep out of all of this and just having a blast playing Zelda and ignoring all this damn teenage nonsense.
Impulse 59 was published with a cover date of April 2000. Part of the story took place at the Valentine's Dance. ("Running Rings...", Impulse 59, DC Comic Event)
The crew of Impulse - headcanon futures
For my headcanon reboot.
As previously suggested by another (can't recall name), Bart as a videogame developer could be awesome. He'd do better to work alone (at superspeed). Max could front him the cash and he'd publish his games to Steam (or whatever the DC equivalent it). I know he was a console guy back when, but that was the 90s and timeslide changes things and PC games are easier for indie distribution and ownership. He won't be making pay-to-play. He won't be making casual games. Or city-builders, either (a shame, I like them). He'll make what he likes and they'll be popular and he'll make a lot of money.
Carol will marry Bart and go to a very highly ranked college (maybe Rice - Bart doesn't like snow). She'll become a scientist. Her siblings may find out Bart is Impulse because he sucks at hiding it.
Preston will be putting his and Wade's films on Youtube. Marla Bloom (of Blue Devil comics - her story goes differently than canon) will see them and give him and Wade the same opportunity that Verner gave her. He won't be the next Spielberg, but he will be very successful.
Wade is covered above with Preston.
Rolly may become a weather man. Kind of a in-joke Rolly always wanted to be popular and because I live in Alabama and back in the days this comic was being published, folks in my area loved their weatherman. He can probably go to UAB because it's close enough to commute to, and that's financially responsible and because I think of Manchester's university not being as good as UAB.
Eddie needs to go straight and become less angry. Good influence from Rolly. Don't know that I see him going to college (especially given the less-than-impressive academic record he currently has). Maybe he can learn a trade and make good money anyway.
Mike is a bit less fleshed out to me. His dad should be making quite good money, so he'll likely want the same lifestyle. He could probably manage in sales, if commission based. Of course, he could go to college, too, it's just that I already have a disproportionate number doing so. Admittedly, that was before I decided Preston and Wade went apprentice route, so not so applicable now. I do plan on Matt and Helen marrying, by the way.
Ayana is even less developed than Mike and I run into the same issue of whether or not send her to college. I plan for her to stay in the Birmingham metro.
White Lightning can "apprentice" to the Trickster. I really thought those two made a great team-up (I prefer her earlier incarnation - no powers and stealing novelty checks to embarrass daddy). She's absolutely brilliant as stirring up publicity (at least among the teen set) and would do well in advertising if she could not get a criminal record. If Kon's still trying to promote products, he could do worse than hiring her. Actually, she might be good at promoting Bart's first videogame (people have to know about it to buy it), too.
