Miscellaneous [old doodles]
You might have noticed that I haven't posted a merchandise roundup for a while. Unfortunately, there's a few reasons for that. I was having car trouble for a while, and when I finally got my vehicle back, I drove to the mall, hoping for a merchandise bonanza. But nope: after all that time, there wasn't a single new item on the shelves.
I still see Rick and Morty apparel pretty regularly, but I try not to post the same items twice (as Rick once said, "I don't do sequels.") At this point, I'm hoping for a blitz around Christmas time. Adult Swim usually cashes in pretty hard when the holidays roll around, so maybe that'll make up for the lack of season eight apparel.
Luckily, in the past few weeks, I've found enough Rick and Morty merchandise for a roundup. For starters: antique malls don't sound like a good candidate, but surprisingly, I found a few Funko Pops among the booths crammed with old books and religious paintings.
Wine, mega seeds, a smartphone...nobody's having a particularly good time here.
On the flip side, head shops are usually a safe bet. Who wants to smoke directly from Rick's head? I know some of you do.
Walmart's also been coming through recently. They get new socks pretty regularly, and Pickle Rick is back in action.
Craft fairs are the true wildcard. You'll find anything from official merchandise to bootleg pins and tumblers that remind you (in case you didn't know): Rick and Morty fans tend to smoke weed. This time, Philip J. Fry joined in.
I also saw Mr. Meeseeks and Tinkles Dorbz for the first time. Not sure why we're focusing on Tinkles of all characters, but I guess somebody will buy it.
It took a few trips, but finally, Rue 21 made the mall visits worth it. I was delighted to find a new shirt with a metal-inspired design.
And you can complete your outfit with a new pair of sweatpants and some trippy boxers underneath!
On a side note, "Jesus of Suburbia" by Green Day is one of my favorite songs. When I'm in the restroom, I always think of these lines: "I read the graffiti in the bathroom stall / Like the holy scriptures of the shopping mall."
There's, uh...a lot going on here.
That's the Midwest for you, I guess. Half the graffiti is religious positivity, and the other half helpfully informs you that certain people are "dirty tramps." That's why I come here!
A few of my favorite Rick and Morty characters
Hello whatever hour this is!
I know it is not Monday anywhere in the world currently, but I keep taking pictures and not posting them and I had the inspiration to post what I took on Monday! Here we see Mr. Meeseeks, looking strangely at the scrumptious mince pie that appeared in the house. I've just realised that the snowflake on the top looks like the Blood Demon art form Compass Needle Technique that Akaza uses in Demon Slayers... Don't worry Mr. Meeseeks, I should be ok, the mince pie was delicious🤣
I have been enjoying rewatching episodes of Rick and Morty as usual. Today I watched Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender (S3:E4) over lunch and it is (for me) an episode I truly underrated and would sometimes skip over. I usually go straight for The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy (S3:E5) as my comfort watch, but for some reason I just fancied watching The Vindicators. Poor Noob Noob😭 Enjoy your week everyone. Remember to sit down with your favourite episode of Rick and Morty, a cup of tea, and a slice of cake!😊☕🍰

RICK AND MORTY 4.06 - Never Ricking Morty
I was with a couple friends on a Labor Day weekend. As we were trying to settle down after a night of eating mushrooms we began introducing each other to our favorite comedy programs that each other had never seen. I made them watch Anthony Jeselnik's Thoughts and Prayers.
Another friend introduced us to Rick and Morty with this episode. I'm very skeptical about animated comedy because what isn't great is effectively unwatchable and the vast majority of it is absolute shite.
It made me nervous to commit to the unknown due to previous experiences because nothing is worse than watching something unfunny when eating mushrooms.
It took a few mintues to warm up to it but by the end of this episode I was sold. We were fucking dying laughing in the twilight of our mushroom trip watching this. It was fucking fantastic.
There's been a lot of coverage of this episode online unpacking the underlying meaning and philosophical themes explored and no doubt there's a lot of value tucked in between the hilarity.
Although personally, I find existentialism to be rather mundane and less interesting than the similarities that immediately jumped out to me between Mr. Meeseeks and concepts such as Tulpas, Servitors, and Egrigores.
I just assumed that that was intentionally baked into part of the inspiration for the character echoing the famous scene from Fantasia with Mickey Mouse as the Scorcer's Apprentice. But after a cursory glance online, I was surprised to find that this had not been touched upon, so here I am.
Rick and Morty season 1 episode 5 "Meeseeks and Destroy" Review!
Ah the infamous Mr. Jellybean episode...I personally really enjoyed it, Rick was great in this episode, and I really like the Mr. Meeseeks storyline, and I feel like they handled the serious topic well, some but not all of the jokes landed.
Random thoughts:
YES MORTY STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!
It's actually pretty cool how this came back in later episodes (Vindicators 3: Return of Worldender, Rickfending your Mort)
I love how Rick constantly looks like he just hates everything-
I love how it's such a fairy tale type adventure, showcasing Morty's naivety, butttt all of it is gone in later seasons.
Again, I like how it showed that Beth and Jerry's marriage had cracks, buttt that doesn't really matter in the end considering that they move to a new dimension next episode
It's weird that now they suddenly care about death- Morty was straight up shooting people in the first episode, why do they care about one person's death-
I appreciate Rick's pettiness in this episode
Oh god oh no oh god oh no oh god no no no no no
Deserved. Also, I'm really proud of Morty for fighting Mr. Jellybean off.
I won't lie, I cried. The poor boy didn't deserve this, nobody deserves this.
I appreciate Rick being nice to Morty when he found out what happened, he didn't ask Morty what happened since Morty clearly did not want to talk about it, and he threw the bet so Morty's adventure would have a happy ending, also this is a small detail, but I like how Morty was comfortable with Rick touching him, of course, Rick didn't mean anything bad by it, but after a situation like that, you could be uncomfortable no matter who was touching you, even if it was innocent, so I feel like it shows how comfortable Morty is with Rick given that he wasn't uncomfortable.
AWWWWWWWW
FUCK YES! 100% PERCENT DESERVED
Final rating: 9/10 Really good episode, shows Rick caring about Morty, shows serious topic well, deducted some points for unfunny jokes, but really good episode overall, but would not recommend if you get uncomfortable
