NO HATE, i think that ship is just a fun and innocent activity 89% of time and that it is totally fine to like a ship even if there are no profs of it, as long as you are conscious of it..but sometime i feel you guys ship a couple just out of pity and end up convincing yourself of lies. The first thing is sad, the second is problematic for obvious reasons.
NejiTen has 0 profs. In canon Neji never show any kind of romantic interest in girls, not even the slightest, not even for TenTen.
This because in canon Neji seems really NOT into romance and love and girls : Ino is canonically one of the prettiest girls, if not the prettiest, in Konoha yet he 100% ignores her when she try to seduce him. sure..maybe Ino is not HIS type, but apparently NONE is in canon.
He even met Foo: and she is a cute girl too, with different hairstyle and bodytype and colors in comparison to Ino, she kinda resemble Sakura so we know she should be perceived as good looking yet he isn't into her either. Another boy in Naruto would blush or become shy and nervous or flirt if a cute girl takes his hand like that, but Neji is unbothered and even a bit annoyed. So, again, Neji never show interest in any girl CANONICALLY. Equally interesting is to note the reaction of his teammates: Rock Lee is invested in his beloved friend Neji's next move, he wants to know what Neji thinks of this girl, while TenTen can't even pretend to be interested. If Foo had taken Sasuke's or Sai's hand, Sakura and Ino's reaction would have been immediate and not at all silent but even the shy and silent Hinata would have shown some signs of emotions, it is a perfect scene to show that the girl is interested in her teammate and yet TenTen seems sincerely bored as if she had better things to do and Neji was stuck there wasting her time.
What is even funnier is that with Naruto SD - Rock Lee & his Ninja Pals the creators could have expand Neji and Tenten's relationship and give to the fandom some cute fanservice yet all we can see is that TenTen has a crush on a Hyuga but its NOT NEJI BUT ITS HINATA! So in this comic spin-off not only romantic NejiTen doesn't exist but Neji and TenTen are even rivals for Hinata.
YES, RIVALS ! NOW I am not suggesting that its canon, as i said before, in canon Neji doesnt like NONE, but even in not canon material TenTen is presented like just a friend for Neji. He seems WAY MORE into Hinata than TenTen (he images himself as Romeo and Hinata as his Juliet, no boy would imagine THIS if he didn't like the girl like THAT).
They had again another opportunity to give us some fanservice in Road to Ninja, since we have Neji with a totally different personality and not shame into show interest for women. All we got its that even there he likes Hinata (and a bit even Sakura) but not TenTen.
All this probably because the only person for which Neji CANONICALLY show sincere affection is Hinata. We genuinely see him took care of her and worry for her well being when she is temporanely blind, even if it was not his duty and she is safe and protected in her ridiculously rich and powerful father's house. Yes, he felt guilty because she temporanely lost her eyesight because he was too hard in their trainings, yet he would never spent days vigilating on Hiashi if he was in Hinata's place, nor would he do it for Naruto. He did it for HER. There was no need for him there yet he wanted to be there FOR HER. Then he care for Naruto. Very probably TenTen come after Hanabi too for Neji. Dare i say she come even after Rock Lee.
I think that many people like this couple because, deep down, they pity TenTen since she is single and this is very sad: A woman don't need a man to be complete and happy and TenTen knows it! Her biggest hero, CANONICALLY, is Tsunade : a woman that NEVER get married.
I saw many of you criticize [rightfully] Kishimoto for how he wrote romance without a good development for the couple and how he write women as just being obsessed with dudes then you want a couple that has 0 material to be togheter because you feel TenTen is not fulfilled without a man..yet you guys call SasuSaku and NaruHina forced. Where is the logic?
Again no hate but its wild how some of you act as if they were canon.
