The Bell of Huesca by José Casado del Alisal
Lucretia Borgia Reigns in the Vatican in the Absence of Pope Alexander VI
Artist: Frank Cadogan Cowper (English, 1877–1958)
Date: 1908-1914
Medium: Oil paint on canvas
Collection: Tate Britain, London, United Kingdom
Description
This is a re-creation of an obscure and scandalous incident from the history of the Popes. In 1501 the illegitimate daughter of Pope Alexander VI, Lucrezia Borgia, took his place at a meeting. Frank Cowper has invented this suggestive moment in which two noblemen part Lucrezia’s dress so that a Francisan friar can kiss her shoe. The room in the Vatican in which Lucrezia Borgia appeared still exists. It was decorated by the Italian Renaissance artist Pinturrichio. Cowper went there to copy it and painted the faces of the Cardinals from their original portraits.
So erm I've been trying to find an artstyle so these OCs are my tester, does it look good? It's Ex Pirate now Privateer×Noblemen. They're kinda gay but it's kinda illegal over there in the 17th century. Guess which is which.
In medieval times, contrary to popular belief, most knights were bandits, mercenaries, lawless brigands, skinners, highwaymen, and thieves. The supposed chivalry of Charlemagne and Roland had as much to do with the majority of medieval knights as the historical Jesus with the temporal riches and hypocrisy of the Catholic Church, or any church for that matter. Generally accompanied by their immoral entourage or servants, priests, and whores, they went from tourney to tourney like a touring rock and roll band, sports team, or gang of South Sea pirates. Court to court, skirmish to skirmish, rape to rape. Fighting as the noble's substitution for work.

Imagine not going to diplomacy meetings with Loki, despite the fact that being his wife makes you a princess. You’re not technically required to attend, and it sounds painfully boring.
Once he takes the throne, you now have to be present. Being queen and all. Deciding you’ll just have to have an extra glass of wine afterward, you go.
Loki notices the way various noblemen and heads of state look at you, and doesn’t like it one bit. Your dress is modest, rather than revealing. Not to mention, they’re all married! Nevertheless, they stare.
You, on the other hand, don’t notice. (You’d be terribly embarrassed if you did happen to catch any of them, but... you don’t.) Right now, you’re just focused on not falling asleep.
Thoughts of all those men gazing at you haunt Loki for a solid week. Yes, he knows you’re beautiful. But that doesn’t mean he’s okay with all the ogling.
Ahead of every diplomacy meeting to follow, Loki comes up with a new excuse for you not to go.
#brothers-in-law
There is one particular relationship that is downplayed by this fandom that the show addressed (a bit).
Big brother Zuko, little sister Toph.
Zuko has a sibling, but she is pretty horrible. Although her upbringing definetly contributed to her cruelty, she was horrible to Zuko. Toph on the other hand, is similar to Azula in many ways, but withought the evil elements. She is still headstrong, willing to do what it takes, and will fight the devil for a cornchip. But unlike Azula, Toph cares about people, even if her love is a little rough.
Zuko finds a strong and independent young woman who belittles him like a sister, but isn’t cruel like azula and truly has his best interests at heart. Toph finds someone from a similar background to relate to; parents didn’t understand, from noble family, expected to play a role that made them feel untrue to themselves.
