I love being a pagan in a predominantly Christian area because the phrase "My Lord" is so neutral. I could be talking about the Lord of Lords. I could also be talking about the Lord of the Flies. You'll never know.

Artemis brought my kitty back!!

Let me explain. My family has an 18-year old Maine Coon who was born to us. My siblings and I have known her longer than we knew our dad.

Last week, two dogs who have been loose and running across a MASSIVE territory (like at least three miles) attacked her and sent her, spooked, running off into the woods. We thought she wasn’t coming back, we didn’t know the extent of her injuries.

Fast forward to last night. More accurately, this morning. At 2am I went out to our backyard and whispered a prayer up to Artemis in her aspect as the full moon to bring her home. At 6am my sibling woke me up telling me she had come home. She’s skinny, and dirty, and in a bit of a temper, but she’s home and she’s okay.

Praise Artemis!!! I owe you a big fat offering plate full of goodies my love 🤍

You ever just asked a god to chill with you and hang out while you do something? To share in your coffee or tea? Or try whatever drink concoction you made this time with you? To game with you? To just enjoy your energy while you do something?

It’s nice to just chill with the gods sometimes, I’m not much of a worship and praise constantly person, but a treat them like wiser more powerful people who might be interested to hear your thoughts while you do something and may enjoy learning that perspective. Sometimes I’ll verbally talk to them while going about my day.

I’ve been following a more earth and universe centered path since I was 14, I have felt calls to work with deities from different pantheons at different points in my practice. I’ve got a bunch of books on mythology and folklore from different regions on kindle that my mom got me, but I’ll be honest the main books that help in my practice have been herbal remedies books, the Crystal Bible books, stuff about the natural world and how we can help the planet.

I respect all paths and am currently starting my research into the Helpol community as that’s where I’m drawn and have been for a while. If anyone has any recommendations for books I should get please feel free to pop them in the replies, I’m most drawn to Lord Hades and Lady Persephone and have been for a while. I do already know that theoi.com is a common reference in Helpol posts, I haven’t seen hellenicfath.com mentioned as of yet but that’s one I’ve found and have open on Ecosia right now.

So obviously I can (and likely will if it bothers me long enough) look into the lore and reasonings for this to the best of my ability but I just randomly thought of Heracles or Herakles and I have some questions.

1) who decided it was a good idea for the affair child to have a name honoring the wife of the man/god you’re having an affair child with?

2) what on Gaia’s green earth made them think that was a smart idea?

Like oh yea I just had this kid with a god, better name the kid after the Goddess Wife™ of same god, who is also the goddess of marriage. That’s a brilliant idea 🤦🏼‍♀️ no wonder Herc went through so much. But answers, thoughts, comments, opinions welcome below!
