sirius: AS ENEMIES?????
remus: ...
medieval au where remus is a blacksmith with burn scars covering his whole body from an accident at his family's forge when he was very young. he and lyall have a tense relationship as the incident was partially his father's fault for trying to teach him the family trade before he was old enough to understand the severity of what would happen to him if he didn't follow rules. greyback was a vagrant who had scores to settle with lyall and broke into the forge when remus was left alone in there. regardless, he continues the family trade when he's of age as they have little other way to make money. later, he meets sirius, the eldest son of and heir to the biggest magical dynasty in the kingdom. sirius is set to inherit his father's role as chief of the king's army when his father retires in a few years, but is disillusioned with upper class life and unable to turn a blind eye to the suffering of the people like the rest of his family. he is tired of his mother's abuse and does not want to lead the wars his father will leave behind for him. they meet when sirius is strolling through the village, fuming after another fight with his younger brother which leads to him being thrown out of the house. despite his father leading the army, sirius has never seen a forge before, and is curious about how the weapons are made. they get along well, aside from a small mishap at the beginning when sirius gets too curious about remus' scars. the two of them pass hours in the forge, remus patiently answering every single question he has, no matter how stupid. and even though he has to go home eventually, at the end of the day, he thinks he wouldn't mind being kicked out more often if it meant he could see remus again.
Prompt 9 - Amnesia AU
@wolfstarmicrofic April 9, word count 997
“No, Mr Black, no, you need to stay in bed,” the man dressed all in black said, pushing him back down on the bed.
“No, no, no!” he moaned, rolling around and trying to get up. He had no idea who Mr Black was. All he knew was that he needed to get out of there.
“Mr Black, please. I’ll have to sedate you if you don’t calm down.” The man waved to someone standing behind him, and they came forward with a syringe. He fought harder. He did not want to be drugged. “Mr Black, please!” The man huffed as he struggled to hold him down. “Remus, you’ll have to do it.” The man with the syringe nodded and moved to the other man’s side. He shook his head, begging Remus not to do it, but Remus looked down at him, mouthed sorry and plunged the needle into his arm, pushing the plunger down in one fluid movement. The world went dark, and he fell into nothingness.
“I am sorry, Mr Black. I was just doing as I was told,” Remus said to him from his bedside. He tried to move as he woke but found he’d been strapped down. “Sorry about that as well, but they felt it would be easier to keep you calm this way.”
“Where am I?” he asked groggily. His throat felt like sandpaper, and he was just about to ask for some water, but there was already a straw positioned under his lips. He took a grateful sip and then another, soothing his parched mouth.
“You’re at a medical facility recovering from a motorbike accident,” Remus explained in a calm voice. “You hit your head pretty hard and have amnesia. Your doctor doesn’t know if it’s permanent yet, but it’s still early days, so you could get your full memory back.”
“Who am I?” he asked as he absorbed Remus’s words and realised he had no idea who he was.
“Your name is Sirius Orion Black, you are twenty-two years old and insanely lucky.”
“How am I lucky?” He didn’t feel very lucky right now.
“Not many people take on a 40-ton lorry and live to tell the tale.”
He supposed Remus was right, but he still didn’t feel lucky.
“It’s such a stupid name,” he grumbled. “Why can’t I be Steve or John or James or something?”
“James?” Remus asked, suddenly sitting up. “Do you remember him?”
“What are you on about?”
Remus’s face fell.
“Doesn’t matter.”
They fell into silence, and he hated it. He needed noise to take his mind off his current predicament.
“Can you put some music on or something?”
“Sure,” Remus replied and stood up to fiddle with the CD player on the side. A male voice began singing, and he wasn’t sure if it was familiar or not.
“Are you hungry?” Remus asked. He nodded, and Remus left him to go get him something to eat.
He noticed he had a window, so he twisted as best he could until he could see outside. It didn’t take long before he was daydreaming as he gazed out onto the rolling lawn and trees lining the grass.
“Still don’t know what I was waiting for, and my time was running wild, a million dead-end streets…”
He jumped when Remus dropped his plate in the doorway; luckily, it had a lid, so the food didn’t go to waste.
“You know the lyrics?” Remus asked.
“To what?”
“The song you were just singing.”
He looked at Remus oddly. He hadn’t been singing, had he? “Do whatever you were doing before I came in and see if you can remember,” Remus said excitedly, taking his seat and watching him intently. He didn’t want to, really, but the way Remus was looking at him all hopefully, he supposed it wouldn’t hurt to try.
He looked out of the window again, letting his eyes grow soft. It took a while, but finally, he slipped into that relaxed daydream state again.
“Didn’t know what time it was, the lights were low, oh-oh. I leaned back on my radio, oh-oh.”
“You did it!” Remus cheered, getting to his feet and calling for the doctor. “This is really good, Sirius, er, sorry, Mr Black,” Remus corrected himself.
It took weeks for Sirius to remember who he was and get all his memories back. It started small. He remembered how he liked his tea: lots of milk and two sugars, and then one morning he woke up and everything was just back.
“Has James called?” he asked Remus as he walked in with his breakfast.
“James?” Remus asked. Sirius could tell he was testing him.
“James Potter, my best friend,” Sirius answered. Remus’s grin stretched his face.
“You remember James?”
“I remember everything,” Sirius told him and watched as Remus’s grin dimmed slightly.
“I’m so happy for you, Mr Black,” Remus said, his tone more formal than it had been for weeks.
“Sirius,” Sirius corrected.
“I’ll let the doctor know your memories have returned,” Remus said stiffly and left Sirius’s room. Sirius had no idea why Remus was acting so oddly. He shrugged it off and went to get a chocolate bar from the vending machine down the hall. To his surprise, he found Remus on the floor, crying.
“Remus?” he asked, crouching down to his level. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re all better,” Remus answered.
"But that’s a good thing, right?”
Remus nodded.
“Yes, but that means you’re leaving and — and…” he shook his head, cutting himself off. It didn’t take Sirius long to put two and two together.
“You know we can still hang out, right? After I’m discharged.”
“Really?” Remus sniffled, wiping his puffy eyes on the back of his hand.
“Yes, Remus. I would be honoured to buy you a pint.”
Sirius was discharged later that day, and that evening, he and Remus met up to celebrate his good health, and Sirius might have stolen a cheeky kiss, which Remus returned enthusiastically.
Bestfriend's brother spoiler maybe....
God I love them😭
Today is a full moon day(night?), while this may not mean much to most people but since, I'm a marauders fan all I can think about is a wolf running around with a stag, a black dog and a rat.
Poor remus lupin will go through so much pain bc he's all alone now. One friend died, other (his lover) betrayed and falsely convicted and the last one was a traitor who faked his own death. But alas all of them are dead by now
FUCK CANON BECAUSE WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ALL DIED AND REMUS WAS LEFT ALL ALONE 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🥳😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
James: Remus is late, again.
Regulus: How's that possible? I called him at 8 o'clock this morning pretending it was 11.
Sirius: I printed a fake schedule saying we were starting at 9 instead of noon like we usually do.
Peter: I set his alarm clock to say PM instead of AM.
Lily: I think you guys may have overdone it.
Remus: *bursts through the door* WHAT YEAR IS IT?!
Life's overwhelming but I'm writing and torturing Remus Lupin again so who cheered.
