I think people who are questioning being intersex or are unable to know for sure should be allowed to participate in the community, especially if they're disclosing that they're questioning.

Forcing people who may be intersex to distance themselves from the intersex community and conversations regarding intersexuality is cruel and contributes to serious mental health issues that many intersex people face. Not feeling as though they belong anywhere.

If someone is adopting this questioning label then it's probably for a reason.

Getting hard confirmation does not magically change their intersex status, their history, their experiences, or their perspective on life.

If you treat questioning intersex people as perisex invaders by default, you're inherently rejecting and harassing intersex people who just don't know they're intersex.

No intersex trait is insignificant. No intersex trait "barely counts." No intersex trait is "too minor to matter."

You have an intersex trait and or variation, and you like the label intersex? Bam, you're intersex, case closed.

I am pretty sure that septate hymens can be caused by intersex variations but it’s not inherently intersex IIRC? @v-hypospadias is definitely more knowledgeable on this than me though!

If you are new to questioning being intersex or are new to the intersex community, I beg you to read and listen to what intersex activists have said before you. I beg you to learn about the history of this community and the struggles we face. I don't post a lot about being intersex, because it's an incredibly hard subject and is full of trauma for me, but this has got to stop.

This pattern of people who use their own (whether questioning or confirmed) intersexuality as a shield to say bio-essentialist, intersexist and often transphobic things has got to end. You cannot claim to be part of this community and not care about the people in it you are harming.

Learn from other intersex people! Follow other intersex people! Ask questions to those who are open to that! Can't believe I have to say this but don't ask people sexual or invasive asks if you don't know them in a very intimate way!

I'm not trying to gatekeep, and if you're reading that this way I think you should look inward for why. This post is specifically about people who use their own (possible) intersexuality as a way to reinforce harmful stereotypes and perceptions of intersexuality.

I just want this community to be safe again. I don't want intersex people perpetuating harm toward other intersex people

a flag for intersex people who are on both the bigenital and agenital spectrums. there are no wrong ways to use this flag, you know your body best, but some examples may include:

- having a penis as well as vaginal hypoplasia or agenisis

- having a vagina or vulva as well as penile hypoplasia or agenisis

- having ambiguous genitals with both penile and vaginal hypoplasia or agenisis (such as a micropenis and small vaginal canal)

- ambiguous genitalia with aspects of both a penis and vagina or vulva, but one or both not looking or functioning in typically expected ways

made this to describe my experience of having ambiguous genitalia, but neither being a typical size or "fully functional" by perisex standards

if the only reason you dont identify as intersex when your questioning is because intersexuality is statistically unlikely not only is that internalized intersexism its also just plain WRONG!!

and im going to use my dumbass as an example;

for like a year i started questioning if i was intersex, some of the traits i thought i had werent intersex, some of the traits i did have i thought were normal, but the ONLY reason i thought those traits were normal was because in my mind it was unlikely that i had a more "noticeable" variation

i convinced myself that my intersexuality MUST be perisex because how could i be noticeably intersex? thats so rare...

BUT IT ISNT IT REALLY ISNT! INTERSEXUALITY IS NOT RARE AT ALL!!! DONT LET THE INTERSEXISTS GET TO YOU IDENTIFY AS INTERSEX IF YOU THINK YOU ARE! And if you arent? Then now your an awesome knowledgeable ally!
