I am trying out a new running program “5k in less than 30 minutes”. First day was 15 minute run in a moderate tempo.
According to the schedule I have to run three times a week, but I can switch one of the days with other cardio exercises if necessary. I hope to run the three times but with all the biking around the city i might be too tired some days.
But yay for fall running 🍂🍃🍁
Run streak day: 263 Miles for the year: 1,003.4!!!!! I DID IT!!!! I HIT 1,000 MILES!!! I can't believe I finally hit 1,000 miles in a year, i have been working on this goal for the last few years, I always get close but I've never been able to cross that line, until today that is!! This year has been nuts sooo many amazing runs (and a few not so good ones) and I still have 2 more months to go, maybe I'll even hit 1200. Happy running everyone!!!!
Ventura Half Marathon Race Result I've found my BQ race course for next year. The half was run over the last 13 of the full course. 400 foot net downhill. Sub 1:50:00 and personal best by 3 minutes. Negative splits and finished strong. Pictures later.
Marathon training W15D1: 13 km
Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving! Today I’m thankful for finishing my last “long” run before race day, and for the ideal fall aesthetic I got to experience at a pumpkin patch today.
Life is so weird right now and different but there are definitely some positives in here and I'm trying to focus on that. I ran a race last weekend in support of women in politics and we got coffee after at my favorite little coffee shop. The colors down where my boyfriend lives are shockingly beautiful and even though fall sometimes makes me sad it really is beautiful. I'm really homesick and I miss my boyfriend and I miss my mom :/ but work is good and strangers are sometimes really nice and running makes me happy. I miss the mountains and the desert and being excited to wake up in the morning. I just work so much and wow my stomach hurts all the time. Guys I gotta figure out some stuff to change. I need suggestions. ***How do you fit in workouts when you don't have much time? How do you meal prep? How do you balance work and friends and yourself????
This is the first solid run with no breaks I’ve done in a good while, and I really enjoyed it! It was lovely and cold and although it wasn’t the most amazing run ever it also wasn’t awful and I felt super awesome after.
These are the steps I try to sprint up at the end of my runs along this track! It kills me every time but it is also badass.
Wearing my ear covering headband makes me look like an egg. Attack of the egg.
*Sometimes you win - sometimes you learn.* And I learnt. I’ve never felt so terrible while running before. The first 16k were perfect and at goal pace (5:15ish) but when I tried to eat something to fuel my body I choked. I was so so so nauseous. I felt like vomiting and I couldn’t even think about food or water... not the best feeling for a marathon. So I slowed down and ran that first half marathon in 1:55h. „It’s okay to lose that marathon, slow down, but don’t give up...!“ I told myself all the time. It was so hard. I felt so weak...every kilometre after that half marathon mark was a torture. I thought about DNF at 30k but I tried to focus on other parts of my body than my stomach. My abs were cramping and I couldn’t run with a normal posture anymore. I walked. I sipped on water at every single aid station. I ran. I walked. It was so hard. But I did it. With the motivation of some male runners that picked me up I managed to run the last 3k straight. And I finished with the exact same time like I did the first time I ran a marathon. I told myself that it was okay. 4:14 is great for feeling sick for almost 28k!! It’s great anyway. I definitely learned some lessons. So I don‘t hate that Marathon. I just need to recover. Oh yessss...
