“You could eat lunch with me, you know,” Barty said quietly, tapping his own chest.
“I dunno, Barty. Most of the people you hang out with hate me.”
“They don’t hate you. They just don’t know you.”
“You don’t really know me, either.” Regulus smiled.
“That’s just because you never eat lunch with me. Hanging out during class and walking together between classes doesn’t give us a lot of time to get to know each other.” Barty nudged him with his shoulder. Regulus sighed, picking at the skin around his thumbnails.
“Not today. I told them I’d meet them for lunch.” He looked up to see Barty’s face fall slightly. “What about dinner instead?”
“You got it. See you then.” Barty winked and maneuvered his way through the crowded entryway into the Great Hall.
