Many of us speak of tawḥīd nowadays, sometimes angrily, sometimes softly. But tawḥīd is nothing if it just remains in the brain or the theological manuals, and doesn't enter the heart and doesn't transform the way that we are. Tawḥīd should help us not only to understand the unity of the Creator but also the unity of the human race as well... They all have the inviolability of belonging to the Adamic family. Pay no attention to and distrust those who speak of tawḥīd but whose hearts are not overflowing with love for Allah's creatures.

Liven Your Heart

Liven your heart in longing to Allah by regretting the past that went either in vain, the past that went with no worship, and the past that went with some sins.

Regret it enough to ignites repentance which entails yearning to worship Allah. After you remember and regret and repent, put a period on your past and start a new sentence.

Flip the page and start on a new page, now your aim is to catch up and be better than ever, and better than anyone else.

The Student Respects His Teachers

Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Muʿayṭī said: I saw Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh in Makkah. قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ المُعَيْطِيُّ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ بنَ عَيَّاشٍ بِمَكَّةَ، Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah came to him and sat on his knees before him. جَاءهُ سُفْيَانُ بنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، فَبَرَكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، A man came and asked Sufyān concerning a ḥadīth so he said: “Do not ask me about any ḥadīth so long as this Shaykh is seated here.” فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ حَدِيْثٍ، فَقَالَ: لاَ تَسْأَلْنِي عَنْ حَدِيْثٍ مَا دَامَ هَذَا الشَّيْخُ قَاعِداً. So Abū Bakr began to say: “O Sufyān, how are you?
