I'm aware you know what HTTYD is and you need no explainations if you're seeing this Post, but yesterday I had a Cambridge C1 Exam and, to practice for the Writing Part, I wrote a "Review" about HTTYD 1 the day before. So now you gotta read it, since I haven't yapped about this movie much in my Blog yet and that's illegal. Here you go, pretend you've never heard of this movie before:
REVIEW
"I've heard you're looking for the ten best films of all time, so I have decided to tell you about a movie that's been my unbeaten, absolute favourite for over a decade!
It is a wonderful animated movie from 2010, the first installment of a successful trilogy: "How To Train Your Dragon", by Dreamworks. It's a story about a young boy who lives in a village of fierce, fearless viking warriors, but he's not like them: he's skinny and not very muscular, so he's seen as an outcast, despite him being the chief's son. His strenghts, however, are his immense curiosity, creativity and intelligence, which allow him to come up with unique technologies to compensate his differences. Unfortunately, the villagers do not approve of these techniques and keep their old ways. However, everything in his life is going to change when he manages to shoot down and, later, befriend one of the most feared dragons known to vikings so far!
I belive this movie deserves to be added to the top ten best films of all time list, as it is an heartfelt, emotional and deep story that touched the hearts of millions, about learning to value your own individual strenghts, friendships and skills. Without mentioning the unforgettable score, awesome artstyle and unique character designs! It also contains a meaningful plotline about a difficult father-son relationship, a beautiful and authentic friendship, the importance of learning to accept and understand our differences, overcoming outdated traditions and finding a way of expressing yourself to the fullest.
For all the reasons given, how could the list of best movies be complete without this masterpiece? "
y'all know how Darwin used to study evolution and such. in one of his studies, he discovered a group of birds (and I am paraphrasing bc it's 2am and icba find sources rn) native to one place got swept away in a storm and essentially got redistributed onto another place. the food and wildlife being different in the new place, the birds had to find away to survive, and through trial and error (i.e. evolution), they basically mutated/evolved to survive the new place, which took years
the point i'm trying to make is that it does not make complete sense to me that Grimmel managed to single handedly wipe out all of the fury family of dragons (night furies, light furies, etc.).
the fury family of dragons (FFoD – i'm being lazy, sue me), must've AT LEAST been native to a land elsewhere. this could be the Hidden World, or literally anywhere outside the archipelago, and a small number of these dragons got swept away to where Grimmel could reach and kill them.
we already know that dragons cannot fly for extended periods of time without rest. so it's *possible* that some of the FFoD got separated from the rest of them. anyways, that's my two cents on this
Skrill doodles because I need to cleanse my brain from that monstrosity in the new live action movie.
I little something new I made today gang :)
Honestly had no idea what I was doing but it came out good at least, i absolutely love drawing my oc Silverius and with very good reason this guy is based off of my sick cat Stella. She is still alive but I made Silverius back when she wasn’t doing good at all I was definitely in a dark and scary place so I tried bringing myself back a bit with my favorite comfort franchise HTTYD :)
Peregrine falcons from real life are most similar to Night Furies!
Reason: Fly very fast
STRIKE CLASS
Strike dragons are speed incarnate. Perfect precision with the agility to match their speed. These are kings of the skies and specialized to eat and take out other dragons. Powerful jaws to break bones and powerful shots to strike dragons out of the sky. Strike class dragons are also wicked smart, allowing them to outsmart their prey and hunters. Most being nocturnal they have excellent vision and hearing. When not in the sky they spend their time in mountains, cliffs, and caves. They can climb to extreme altitudes and endure insane weather. Many are able to conduct lightning in some manner or other.
Strike class dragons have small clutches, heavily protected by parents. When strike class eggs hatch a deafening crack like thunder occurs. Announcing the birth of a new king of the skies.
If you wish to train a strike class, you must be clever, intelligent, have a fish and be patient. But you will have a lifelong friend, an equal, and a brother(or sister) for life. They will take you to the farthest edge of the world and show you things that no other human will ever see.
Dragon Classes in HTTYD
so How To Train Your Dragon is probably my favorite movie ever. I have a 550+ page Google doc on every species, subspecies, and hybrid, including fanmade ones or ones that I think could've been subspecies. I won't link it here cuz I just keep it for myself and close friends, but I wanted to discuss the classes. Specifically that, in my stuff, I have 10.
In Canon, there have been 8 different Classes. Stoker, Boulder, Sharp, Strike, Tidal, Mystery, Fear (which was in the series from 2010 to 2014), and Tracker (which has been in the series since 2014). I find the idea of deleting the Fear Class "because people didn't fear dragons anymore" very stupid, because A) that's not the point of the Fear Class, and B) yes they did they still feared many dragons. I also added in two other classes: Frost and Toxic. And there is canonical evidence for the idea of 10 classes! In Race To The Edge Season 6 Episode 1 (because yes that series is Canon I don't care what anyone says), Viggo says there is a lens for each class. He says 5, but there end up being 10 lenses, so 10 classes makes sense.
I won't post my whole dragon book, but I will post images of the Class symbols (including the three I made up myself) and each Canon species, subspecies, and hybrid in those Classes. (And yes, I moved some around).
