JSA 9 The arc that's been running ever since issue 1 feels like it's moving into its final act. A big revelation for the good guys finally happens, but the villains also achieve one of their key goals. Things are set up for a very high-stakes finale. I have loved the art in this series. The storytelling is solid, it's classic superhero work, and all of the characters look great on every page. Diego Olortegui draws, and Luis Guerrero colors. One thing I hugely appreciate about this run of JSA is how it has incorporated the Infinity Inc. characters, and made them feel cool and important again. Beth Chapel, aka Doctor Mid-Nite, gets the spotlight in this issue, and she comes off like a true badass. Yolanda Montez, aka Wildcat, also gets some time here, but she's still working through some things. This is one thousand times better than how these characters were treated in the 2010s, when they (and many other characters introduced in the 80s and 90s) were treated as canon fodder for "shocking" moments in crossovers. Building characters is always infinitely more impressive than dissing them. This is a fun series that makes good use of the wide array of heroes and villains from the JSA's history.
