So sad to learn that Duolingo is shutting down TinyCards 😢 It's been my go-to flashcard-app for years!

I love having flashcards on my phone, it's a brilliant tool for memorizing and repetition. However, a problem that I often have with these apps is that there is no way to add equations etc, which makes them pretty useless for maths-heavy subjects. TinyCards has a great feature where you can draw directly onto the card, which allowed me to add equations and other figures.

So now the hunt begins for a replacement! I plan on making mini-reviews as I spend my summer testing flashcard-apps, so stay tuned for that! 🌻

And also: if anybody has recommendations for flashcard-apps that I can test -- please let me know!! 🌻😊

So Quizlet?

I haven’t seen much talk of it here, but I just found out a couple of days ago that back in January they stopped doing the feature that was supposed to help with spaced repetition??? and so since tinycards is closing down -thanks duolingo, I NOW just found out about that too lol-   everyone who knows about it is asking to transfer somewhere else.

I guess I just started using anki again.  I don’t really care for anki but I’ll use it if it means being able to get that spaced repetition stuff.  I believe Memrise is also another good one, but I’m not too sure because I only really use memrise for languages LOL and I haven’t been on in awhile because I mostly just use quizlet.  womp.  guess it’s time to switch. 

so yea, just wanted to let y’all know if you didn’t know.  I haven’t seen much talk of it around here.

Unideal things about duelingo tinycards asl alphabet: 

-cards are not drawn with consistent orientation and not always clear, so I had to go to a separate video to get things right/make sure I was (and one time I in fact wasn’t!)

Good things about duelingo tinycards asl alphabet:

-their flashcard system thing is great! -I have now learned it and apparently like this a bunch!

Now that cringe culture is dead who wants to join my club in Duolingo and learn Japanese?

I share other resources I find and I’m putting together a list of apps and websites we can use that are maybe better than Duolingo (but the other ones don’t have a free social aspect) when it comes to grammar and common sense learning.

For example, right now I’m using both Duolingo and Lingodeer for new learning. I use Drops and Tinycards for studying and reinforcement.

Day 5 of 100 days of productivity

No photo today but I went through some more Duolingo and did some flashcards on Tinycards, not a whole lot but I’m still not feeling my best today, did about half an hour in total so I’m still proud of myself.
