James beamed at Regulus. He knew as soon as Regulus had the information he’d want to begin.
“I have leftover ingredients from last time so you can use those, but we should probably get a fresh mandrake leaf,” Regulus looked almost put out.
“Oh, are you sure the dew will still be viable? Might it be worth collecting some fresh just in case? And was the death’s-head Hawk Moth dried or suspended? Because that too might be a bit past its best.” It took James a moment to realise that Regulus didn’t want to sit idly by until the next full moon to start his transformation.
“It couldn’t hurt,” he told him, and Regulus’s face broke into a smile.
“We could go tonight. We could use your clock and go and get the dew,” Regulus said excitedly as he poured over Sirius’s notes again. “We’ll have to go deep into the forest to find somewhere that sunlight and human feet haven’t touched though,” A little wrinkle between his eyebrows appeared as he concentrated on the notes. James reached out and, with the pad of his thumb, brushed it away.
“Don’t worry, I know a good place,” James told him, and Regulus packed his things away, a determined glint in his eye.
