I should have known when I looked into your eyes. I could sense the mourning coming and the beginning of a nightmare as you turned away. Victims of the storm as barbarians attacked the gate. You hurried past a memory as the sun burned the soulless kisses that I laid upon your burgeoning grave. The roses began to wither away as the sky began to turn to gray. The cold broke my skin as cracks formed on my bones while you sang a song and hummed the madness in my heart away. Ice upon the ground and your hand upon my hand. I said goodbye and wished to die and switch places of where I was and you were going.

I awoke to find myself bathed in sweat and full of sin for what I'd dreamt. Who would have thought it not a dream but a premonition of days to come and the hollow that I've become since you've been away. An empty tomb inside my soul that used to be filled with all your love and every better part of me.

I hear I don’t owe anyone an explanation for my trauma, but what if I want one? What if I want an answer for all the questions that get thrown at me like bits of glass after a tree crashed through the window? Is it wrong to want to know why the lightening hit that spot at that moment? Why was it my house that was destroyed in the storm? What was it about this storm that I wasn’t prepared for? I have so many questions. Sometimes, I want answers more than I want to rid myself of my trauma.
