Find mutual aid groups operating close to you, find out what your options are for accessing transition care, learn what you can do about your specific situation.

There's help to be found. You don't have to be alone in the closet.

Y'know, I've heard of gamer girls, but I've never heard of a "gamer guy." I wonder why not. Maybe it's because guys don't play videogames as much as girls do. I mean basically all girls are gamers.

all the trans bathroom bans have this awful tendency to push the overton window of even trans advocacy by trans people to the right

so many trans people now are focused on pleading to let trans women use women's restrooms and to let trans men use men's restrooms that I feel like the demand that was much more prominent even 5 years ago to construct non-segregated accessible bathrooms for everyone is almost nonexistent

I remember when trans advocacy around bathrooms involved points like:

the issue with sexual assault is the sexual assault, and it's wrong no matter where it takes place and no matter what genders of people are involved

not every trans person is a man or a woman and they also need places to relieve themselves.

people of all genders need assistance with relieving themselves and the people who assist them may be any gender. this applies for babies, young children, disabled people of all ages, people who are incapacitated by substance use, sickness, or injury, etc. It is ridiculous to expect people to only be able to relieve themselves if the person they trust to help them is their same gender

gender segregation of public space tells men that they are not expected to treat women with respect. this does not reduce misogynist sexual violence, it further naturalizes it.

people in the notes are discussing this same trend happening with discourse around sexgender segregated sports and legal sexgender markers on ID. absolutely.

this is also happening with trans healthcare. puberty blockers used to be a compromise! the original demand was for adolescents to have bodily autonomy over what kind of puberty to experience. then cis people fearmongered about kids not being old enough to know their gender, and so there was an effort to be like "okay well for kids who need more time before puberty, we can use this already existing treatment to delay puberty." now cis people fearmonger about the puberty blockers.

there is no way to meet in the middle and have that result in any move to the left. discourse around every single trans issue has moved to the right. this strategy of compromise is actively failing.

contrary to popular belief i think calvin's adhd is, funnily enough, medicated. he takes extended release ritalin every morning alongside his chocolate frosted sugar bombs. this is because he appreciates being more easily able to focus on his various Schemes, Projects, and Machinations while more effectively ignoring schoolwork

Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Announces major changes to State Parks throughout Florida.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) announced an initiative yesterday proposing major changes to various State Parks throughout Florida.

Today, with only one week's notice, FDEP announced public meetings throughout the state scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27th. The meetings will consist of a presentation and an opportunity for public comment, but with only an hour allotted, they do not appear to include a question-and-answer period.

To voice your concerns about these proposals and the lack of public participation, send your customizable email to the Governor, the Secretary of FDEP, and your state representatives. Adding your connection to Florida's State Parks in the email can help them understand how important this issue is to you, their constituent.

if you are able to make it to one of these, i strongly recommend you do. otherwise please send a message. we dont need fucking golf and pickleball in our already threatened natural areas

I feel like a good shorthand for a lot of economics arguments is "if you want people to work minimum wage jobs in your city, you need to allow minimum wage apartments for them to live in."

"These jobs are just for teenagers on the weekends." Okay, so you'll use minimum wage services only on the weekends and after school. No McDonald's or Starbucks on your lunch break.

"They can get a roommate." For a one bedroom? A roommate for a one bedroom? Or a studio? Do you have a roommate to get a middle-wage apartment for your middle-wage job? No? Why should they?

"They can live farther from city center and just commute." Are there ways for them to commute that don't equate to that rent? Living in an outer borough might work in NYC, where public transport is a flat rate, but a city in Texas requires a car. Does the money saved in rent equal the money spent on the car loan, the insurance, the gas? Remember, if you want people to take the bus or a bike, the bus needs to be reliable and the bike lanes survivable.

If you want minimum wage workers to be around for you to rely on, then those minimum wage workers need a place to stay.

You either raise the minimum wage, or you drop the rent. There's only so long you can keep rents high and wages low before your workforce leaves for cheaper pastures.

"Nobody wants to work anymore" doesn't hold water if the reason nobody applies is because the commute is impossible at the wage you provide.

For those who don't understand, EBT are food stamps (government money for buying food for low-income people). Because the money is from the government, it comes with horrific restrictions, one of which is you cannot buy "prepared" food with it. You can only buy raw chicken, not cooked chicken, for example.

This kitchen is getting around that stupid rule by selling you raw, unprepared chicken, and then charging your EBT account for raw, unprepared chicken.

Then as a side thing, totally unrelated, they cook the chicken for free. Since you bought raw chicken with the EBT, it's legal. There's no law against cooking people's raw chicken for free for them. That's just charity.

This kitchen is a blessing to anyone who doesn't have a kitchen of their own.

One of the people I worked with at the sex shop was a lady in her early forties. She had the most deranged sex stories and to be honest I could never tell how much was real.

I think probably all of it was true? But when someone tells you that a man showed up at her door with a sheet cake he wanted her to sit on so he could eat it off her ass it’s fair to be somewhat skeptical.

Aaaanyway. She hooked up a lot and ended up on a casual date with this guy. She was really stoked to be wearing a button up shirt with snaps, so later when they got to his place she could rip the shirt open like in the movies.

Now, it's worth noting she was a bigger gal, and her cleavage could have suffocated a grown man, it was substantial. There was a lot of boob real estate, okay?

So they get back to his place, and she finally gets to have her moment. She rips her shirt open dramatically, displaying the wealth of her cleavage. At first her dates face was excited and delighted. But as his eyes trailed down he began to slowly frown, which I think we can all agree is not what anyone wants when you've just laid yourself bare in a literal fashion.

She looked down to check herself, and there, nestled like a little baby bird in a nest of boob, was a single dorito.

When she told me this story she admitted, "I knew I had a choice. I could get laid, or I could eat the chip."

She ate the chip.

Her date looked repulsed, but she wanted to take one last crack at riding that man, so she did jazz hands and sang in a silly vaudevillian accent, "🎶You should probably put yer meat in me! You should probably put yer meat in me!🎶"

He drove her home shortly afterward, the coward.

In case anyone is curious, about switching from kindle to kobo, I have had basically no real issues so far and have found the switch to be very worth it and I find the kobo to be a much friendlier (better UI and not constantly making me look at the store) and overall just a better device to use.

converting my kindle ebooks has not difficult at all (if you want a step by step explanation of how to do that this is the video I used) and the only books I've issues with her comics and that was just because I forgot they were a different format than text books and converted them to the wrong thing.

I like some of the short cuts on the kobo a lot and the only thing I really miss is having some sort of page number (which is very not even accurate on kindle, but I did like seeing "oh I'm on page 243 of a 500 page book") but there are other features that the kobo has that the kindle doesn't that I think make up for it. Like giving you a physical progress bar and being able to tell you how many "pages" (by which the kobo means how many time you will turn to the next screen) you have in the chapter you're on or in the book total, which will adjust for font size and whatnot

overall, glad I'm switched and I'm excited to keep using it and the writing feature more.
