This is what's so fucked up about "nothing that requires the labor of others is a human right".

The labor is already being done under capitalism. The laborers are already being underpaid under capitalism.

When you propose removing the greedy profiteers and paying the workers a reasonable wage, people call that "slavery" while they have no problem with the current system.

They're not even trying to make sense.

incredibly minor but still dumb side effect of late stage capitalism: ever notice how so many concert venues and stadiums just have the lamest names imaginable. Like ooooh Lady Gaga is playing at the..... Mortgage Stadium? Oh boy the finals are at the.... Chase Bank arena. Can't wait to catch a game at the Garunteed Rate field.

Fun fact! I found out that FIFA doesn't accept branding that's not their own partnerships or whatever, so all those stadiums being used for World Cup games have to cover any reference to the company they're named after. (The pictures I'm putting in here are all from WaPo.)

SoFi Stadium is Los Angeles Stadium for the World Cup but it's also going to be doing the same thing for the 2028 Olympics, so they need to figure out the most efficient way to cover up the name then undo it.

It's not just the big names on the front and roof. It's every single instance they can find of that brand being referenced in the stadium. There's a Facebook video of a Lumen guy tracking down every reference in the stadium (And outside! They had to do the street signs too!) and whiting it out or putting tape or a tarp over it.

I'm now trying to figure out which is more horrifyingly capitalistic. The branding of the stadiums or the erasing of the branding because the giant sporting event doesn't partner with that brand?
