This use to be a coining blog, but now it's mostly reblogs. ('Cause the alter who use to mainly run it isn't around very much anymore)

I do take requests for: pronoun coining/help, gender coining/help, a-spec coining/help, name help, and terms for systems (not as in system origins. stuff like neurotype identities related to systemhood.)

Will not do: system origins, stuff related to any fandom, sexualities other than a-spec stuff, stuff for groups we are not apart of*

*Including but not limited to: culturally exclusive identities and neurotype identities that don't apply to us (as an example, we wouldn't coin an identity related to bpd, as we don't have bpd)

Hello! I am someone of the system that has never coined a term. There's a term I want to coin, providing I don't find a close-enough already created term.

"Only feeling attraction when in the presence of or interacting with the object/target of one's attraction."

However, I don't know how to go about picking a name for the term. Other coining community members, do you have advice please?

gnc culture is being born a girl and presenting masculinely, but knowing that if you were to be born a boy you would present femininely; wanting to subvert expectations placed on you and be anything and all but 'normal'

There's a quote somewhere, from an old advice column about 50 or 60 years back, about a woman who transitioned and began to fret about the fact she had only just begun fancying boy's fashion. The sole phrase I recall from this is "once a crossdresser, always a crossdresser! There's nothing to worry about, dear." And boy did this ask remind me of that.

Reminder that you don't have to call yourself AMAB or AFAB. You don't have to say "I'm AFAB nonbinary." Saying "I'm nonbinary" is enough. You don't need to identify with what you were assigned as by some doctor however many years ago. Mentioning your ASAB is scarcely relevant to most conversations, even those about medical transitioning.

Nonbinary is enough, you don't have to supplement it with a binary system of any kind. It doesn't matter how many people want to know your "transition direction." It doesn't matter how many people want to know what your genitals are (which wouldn't be alluded to by your assigned sex anyway). It doesn't matter how many people what to binarise you. It doesn't matter how many binary people you confuse. No one needs to binarise you. Nonbinary. Is. Enough.

i do just want people to be aware that, while "assigned sex at birth" has been widely reclaimed and generalized to general populations, it did not start through personal identification or as a positive term. it was coined between doctors to discuss what sex to surgically and socially assign intersex infants, children, and in some cases, adults. one example of a study using this term is here, mostly inspired by john money [its a heavy read if you decide to open it]. i do just want people to be aware of the history of this term before claiming that it is "coined by the intersex community"—it wasnt, it was forced on us by the medical community.

Going to a seder at a family friend's place tonight and I have been informed multiple times that someone there has changed her name to Stephanie, but because it seems nobody wants to deadname her, nobody has specified who Stephanie is. So I guess I'm just going to get a surprise Stephanie when I arrive.
