The pool swirled and coiled in a rotating spiral, the water within coiling and clouding out to become vapor at the circular edge. Within the viscous pool swirled several hazy images within the waters depths. Faces shrouded by clouded light, the echo of indistinguishable voices, and a soft forlorn melody humming beneath the water beckoned all who heard the song to approach the menacing liquid.Â
âWhy now?â a voice slapped in a reverberating purr, beckoning the tall figure closer to their arched light, âWhy would you choose now, after so very long, to ask permission to return?âÂ
Inhaling a deep, shaky breath, Rosinante stepped forward with his eyes lowered to the pool. Gazing into the depths, he witnessed a grown man with patchy, blotched skin, pierced ears, and tattoos on his chest, back, arms and fingers smiling up at a polar bear mink. Rosinante lulled his head to the side, smiling warmly with his lips in a solid line before glancing to the other side of the pool.
The image swirled and dissipated, morphing into something new and away from Trafalgar D Water-Law and his crew, and shifting into a person sitting upright and rigid at a desk. Their hand movements scratched away at a page, chronicling quests and organizing calendars while shaking off fatigue with a soft sigh.
âWhy now, Rosinante? You will answer me when I speak to you,â the voice spoke, smoke and vapors clouding in a spectral mist and swelling in a clap to reveal a figure clad in a dark robe with large, dark wings protruding from his back. The figureâs hair shone like gold in direct sunlight, his face expressionless and holding an unspoken taunt behind the amber hue of his eyes.Â
âForgive me, sir,â Rosinante bowed his head, closing his eyes and sinking down onto his knees with his palms clapped over his thighs. âTruth be told, I didnât know I could ask. I thought we were only able to watch from here, not go back.â The figure offered Rosinante a soft smile, making his eyes gentle as he stepped forward with his hand extended.Â
âOf course you can ask,â he confirmed while gently tilting Rosinanteâs head up to pierce his gaze down onto his face, âIt doesnât mean I am likely to aid you in your plight, but you can always ask.â Rosinanteâs eyes held both understanding and a gentle plea behind his expression. The figure suddenly looked to the side before gently kneeling down in front of him.Â
âIf I am to do this for you, there are a few things you should be made aware of,â he uttered in a voice just above a whisper, still gazing to the side while clutching Rosinanteâs chin, âI donât grant just anyone a trip to The Over. Many have asked, but The Over can only handle so much of this energy at once.âÂ
Rosinante nodded along to the warning, keeping his hands firmly affixed to his thighs as the figureâs fingertips began to tingle in gentle licks of flame against his face. The wings fluttered behind the creatureâs back, feathers flickered and shook with subtle ribbons of golden shimmer falling from his shrouded skin.Â
âThere are two ways, you may choose only one,â he uttered, gently turning back his attention to Rosinante in front of him, âThe first is, I allow you to visit in the form you are now: spectral in nature, but natural in appearance. You can speak with only one individual and a single touch can be granted in this form. It will only last for an hour at the most, but you will be able to accomplish all you need to to visit your person.âÂ
The golden bob of Rosinanteâs head depicted his understanding, but his eyes held a slight disappointment within his caramel orbs. The golden-haired man hummed and smiled broadly while arching his brow high.Â
âYou seem dissatisfied with the first option, should you desire to hear the other?â he chuckled at Rosinante, gently smoothing his hand over his cheek before resting on his shoulder, âThe other is a path less commonly taken.âÂ
âPlease,â Rosinante whispered, his lips parting and eyes darting between the two spectral and intimidating orbs staring into his soul, âTell me the other.â The man smiles and shakes his head softly.Â
âYou will borrow my wings for twelve hours,â he shrugged, his wings fluttering behind his back before falling to the ground and sweeping behind him, âA half day venturing between here and The Over at will.â Rosinanteâs eyes widened, looking over the figureâs shoulder to his wings and back at to meet his gaze once more.
âIs there a catch for this option?â he asked, immediately charting a course internally to how he could travel between the realms with haste to visit the young boy once in his care, and to return to his unspoken love in The Over.
âOf course, sweet Rosinante,â the man hummed, giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze, âBut I believe you would choose this option regardless of the consequences.âÂ
âI believe we can both agree on that,â Rosinante gave a gentle hum, exhaling a laugh through his nose and smiling down at the pool beside them, âHow soon do we begin?âÂ
The winged man fluttered his feathers behind his back, his intimidating eyes baring through Rosinante's head and into his spirit.Â
âImmediately.â
Sitting in your office, you finally exhale a hefty breath you didn't realize you held within your chest. Chronicling the journey for the Polar Tang in their quest to meet up with the Straw-Hat and Kid-Pirate crews, while ensuring the rendezvous doesn't collide with maintenance and replenishment of supplies for the grand submarine, really began to take its toll on you.Â
You had been traveling with Law for the past twelve years, ever since he had attempted to join the Donquixote Pirates and serve Doflamingo as his right hand in training. Rosinante was quick to stifle that craving, aiding and serving him to rid himself of the amber-led poisoning, while attempting to zap the lightning desire to stay alive as opposed to longing for death.Â
Smiling, you turn to your desk and lift up a small pendant on your desk: a gift Law had given you when you accepted your title as ship's chronicler and professed your wishes to serve him officially. The heart-shaped locket had a small picture within, something you didn't think the sixteen-year-old Law managed to capture with the Den-Den snail shell.Â
Rosinante was holding your waist, sitting you on his lap with the warm light of the fireplace warmed both of your features. The way he looked up at you spoke volumes, his eyes both rounded and half-lidded, his lips parted in a soft smile, and his gaze never leaving your face as you spoke down at him.Â
Running your fingertips over the picture framed within the locket, you snapped it shut before tucking it within your desk drawer. You never had the chance of giving in to your emotions with Rosinante, never confessing your love for him because Law was simply too important and finding a cure for his health was a far greater need.Â
You had served Doflamingo since childhood, given the choice between becoming a person serving in the âPassion Districtâ of Dressrosa, or using your skills as an in depth chronicler to catalog the deeds, decrees, and contracts for Doflamingo and his crew. You chose the latter, and you were ever thankful to be given the opportunity to do so. Growing your skillset, you had become incredibly detailed in your work, and your code deciphering skills were unmatched.Â
You were only five years older than Law, growing and serving alongside him as he trained beneath Doflamingo to rise in the ranks. You couldn't pinpoint for sure when exactly you began to develop romantic feelings for Rosinante, the new Corazon of the Donquixote pirates, at the time.Â
All you knew is you never had the opportunity to confess your love and adoration for the lanky man. Your heart was his, through and through, and you had never felt the swell to match its equal since. Sure, you had taken a handful of overnight lovers from port to port, but in truth: your heart belonged to him and him alone.Â
Marching away from your desk with your journal clutched in your grasp, you found your captain sitting beside Bepo manning the helm.Â
âCaptain,â you have him a curt bow before fully closing the distance, âI have the itinerary you required.â Law smiled at you, shaking your head and softly gazed lazily up at your stature.Â
âChronicler,â he acknowledged, reaching out his tattooed hand and gesturing for you to pass it over to him with a soft beckoning of his hand. As you passed your journal into his hand, he softly tugged you to his side and held up his index finger in a gesture to halt your movement. You nodded your head in understanding to wait by his side, gently rotating your neck and easing the tension on your shoulders.Â
âYou know, Chronicler,â the nasally voice of the red-headed orka-man called from beside you, âIf your neck and back is still giving you trouble, I'd be happy to ease the tension you've got gathering there, or anywhere else.â You rolled your eyes and gently chastised him with your pointed gaze.Â
âWhile I am pleasantly intrigued, as always, to be on the receiving end of your flirtations, Shachi,â you gently arched your brows and looked him over from the hat on his head to the boots on his feet, âWe both know that it'd be a bad idea. Also, we're both on the clock right now. You should be manning the pressure gauge, honey.âÂ
Immediately, Shachi straightened his back and returned to work with a newfound hastened pace. You didn't ignore the barely audible chuckle falling from Law's chest, gently reaching for his shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze. He raised his hand to your wrist, gently cradling it against his face and offering your knuckles a swift peck.Â
âWhile I don't think Shachi would be an appropriate match for you,â he whispered, alongside the sweetness of your name on his tongue, âI do think it might be time for you to find someone. You've been wearing black for far too long.â
While your uniform was cream in color and embroidered with the dark design of Lawâs Jolly Roger, you appreciated the nod to your plight of mourning for a love you never claimed. You leaned forward and offered Law a swift kiss on the forehead as he passed you back your chronicler journal.Â
âWhat do you suggest, hm?â you ask Law with a soft tease in your tone, âFind some unwitting soul and offer them a place in my bed for a night of heat and passion-?âÂ
â-I accept!â Shachi called over his shoulder, hiding his blush beneath his hat and focussing his glasses-shrouded eyes behind his darkened glasses. You chuckled, shaking your head and pulling your hand away from Law's shoulder.Â
âDid you hear your name in this private conversation, Shachi?â Law growled at his red-headed crewman. Shachi shook his head with a muffled âno, sirâ in response, prompting Law to bark back at him, âSo mind your own business. Keep an eye on the gauge, we're about to reemerge.âÂ
You offered a soft giggle, looking at the chroniclers journal and noting several changes Law had suggested in the margins of the calendar border, mostly to do with the duration of interaction with both Eustass Kid and Monkey D Luffy was to go on for. Shaking your head, you gently scolded him with a soft tap with your journal on his shoulder which gathered another breathy chuckle beneath his breath.Â
âI'm serious, you know,â he again whispered a call of your name, gently tugging at your wrist, âYou deserve a chance to move on.âÂ
âLike you did, you mean?â you offer Law a knowing look, gesturing with your pointed gaze down at his chest tattoo, âHeart Pirates, the Jolly Roger, the feathers in your pullover. Of the both of us, who truly needs to move on?â He scoffed at you, pouting and crossing his arms.Â
âThat's different. I'm honoring him,â he gently mumbled, your body slowly stopping forward and reaching down to squeeze at his knee.Â
âIn my own way, so am I,â you whisper down at him, âBut I will try for you, captain.â Offering him a more intentional kiss on the forehead before returning to the base of the Polar Tang porthole window with Ikkaku, you thought on the words your oldest friend offered you.Â
You had been mourning the tall man for upwards of ten years, no longer the woman you once were and now fully embracing the identity you carved for yourself as a pirate. You pictured what would've come of Rosinante if he had survived.Â
He would be thirty-nine years old, would be still wear his face paint? Would his hair be worn in the same style? Would he have joined you and Law and embrace a life of piracy, or rejoin the ranks of Marines? All questions that you would never know the answer to. Nor would you know how he would've responded to your confessions of love.Â
As you docked at port and settled the three crews in together, you gave Law a gentle nod to excuse yourself from the meeting to resupply the ship with the essentials. Penguin was to accompany you a little later, after he managed to swap stories and recipes with Sanji and Killer; the chef's of the other two crews.Â
Humming a soft tune from the days long since forgotten, you sift through a variety of ingredients at the local flora and fauna shop, enjoying the scents and looking at a large assortment of carnations. The one that took your eye the most was the soft, pastel pink bordering the crimson hue of the droopy leaf.Â
âCarnations from Dressrosa?â you asked the shopkeeper, prompting him to turn to face you.Â
âWe got a shipment over the past week. Worth a pretty berry now, considering it's being shipped out by King Riku Doldo III,â he commented, ushering you closer into the shop and urging your basket onto the trolley, âWhile he's done a lot of good for the kingdom of Dressrosa, after the former king was dethroned and rotting in impel down, he's not as passionate about flower production as the Donquixote was.â
You offer him a soft, forced smile at the comment, knowing intimately well how much Doflamingo truly enjoyed flowers. It reminded him of his mother, and it was disclosed to you in one of his drunken stupors that he desired to fill the castle with carnations as a memorial to her kindness.Â
âI'll just take what's in the basket, sir,â you nodded to him, offering a handful of Berry to claim your remedies, perfumes and spices. He nodded, placing them in a canvas bag and handing over your change and receipt.Â
As you moved to turn on your heel and away from the shop, you felt a gentle tap on your shoulder and urged you to turn to face the source of the wandering touch. Before you had the opportunity to meet their gaze, you saw the familiar petals of red and pink from the waving curls of leaf.Â
âYou forgot this,â the deep baritone softly called over to you, gently tugging it down to reveal their soft eyes to you. You darted your eyes between his, inquisitively mapping his face with your gaze. âIf I may?â he softly gestured to your hair, raising the flower up to your ear.Â
Softly nodding, you curiously accepted the gift of a flower in your hair as he tucked the petals into the crevice of your ear. Your eyes never left his face, finding something familiar in his gaze and a familiar softness in his touch.Â
âThank you, misterâŠ?â you lulled your head to the side and looked from his whiskered chin up to his war-torn eyes.Â
âYou can call meâŠâ his eyes seemed to search yours with a foreign pleading, â...anything you want, love. I'm not fussy.â You arch your brow and scoff at the unbridled flirtation, rolling your eyes and crossing your arms.Â
âAlright then, smartass. Keep your secrets,â you step away from his touch and turn to make your way back to the market square where you suspect to be meeting with Penguin in a few hours.Â
âSmartass?â he mumbled in a soft, appalled whisper, âThat hardly seems an appropriate choice.â You click your tongue while biting back a growing smirk.Â
âAny reason you're choosing not to give me your name?â you ask without turning to face him, eyeing off several of the fresh produce and marking the better priced goods for services in your journal.Â
âWhy, is there something wrong with yours?â he smiled at you, gently sifting through the fruits and finding several varieties of citrus. You offer him a lopsided smile of surprise, your tongue toying with your molars as you stare at him in awe.Â
Using this soft moment of silence, you gently rake your eyes over his form. He was tall with lengthy legs, his back long and shoulders broad. His blonde hair hung in loose curls over his head and tied back by a piece of pink leather, his beard shrouding his lips was manicured in a light and maintained scruff.Â
âWho are you?â you asked him, folding your arms over your chest and analyzing him further.Â
âJust a man journeying the crossroads of life and death,â he shrugged, lifting an orange in his grip and offering the vendor his Berry.Â
âCan you be any more vague?â you arch your brow up and narrow your eyes at him. He turned to face you, his expression mirroring yours in a soft mocking demeanor.Â
âCan you be any more intrusive?â he laughed back at you. Your smile all but fled your face, your brows downturning and lip curling in an appalled pout.Â
âFine,â you shrug, reaching up and taking the flower between your index and middle fingers and offered it to him. He was taken aback, looking between you and the flower before slowly reaching his larger hands out and taking the flower between his index and middle fingers from you.Â
As he placed the stem between his fingers, a soft moment of familiarity washed over you in a crashing wave. The small gesture felt like passing a hidden cigarette with Rosinante after all the crew had fallen asleep, passing notes well into the cryptid hours and swapping stories of your adventures.Â
Before you had the opportunity to turn fully away, he raised the flower back up to your face and darted his eyes over your form with an expression of forlorn longing.Â
âThis is yours,â he whispered, gesturing to the vibrant flower in his fingers, âPlease, keep it.â Softly pouting up at him, you nodded in a subtle bob and allowed him to once again place the flower in the crook of your ear.Â
His smile seemed all-too familiar, but no matter how your heart yearned to place a name to his face, you refused to give in to the intrusive thought.Â
âI'm going to go back to my crew now,â you assess him with your gaze, shrugging off your inhibitions and biting back your nerves, âDid you want to join us for dinner with the lot of them? My captain won't mind, I assure you.â The man seemed to stiffen and back straighten in a rigid beam.Â
âAre you inviting me back to meet your crew?â he asked inquisitively, his gaze dating over your eyes and face as he assessed your intentions.Â
âIf you don't want to, that's all you had to say,â you scoff, turning back to the produce and marking another symbol over the page, âNo need to be rude about it, Smartass.âÂ
âNo, no, you misunderstood me,â he chuckled nervously, softly placing his hand on your wrist to halt you, âPlease, let me join you. I just-... I didn't expect you to extend an invite back to meet your family at the offer of a simple flower.â
âWell, you caught me in a moment of weakness,â you tug your wrist away from his grip, softly scolding him with your eyes and turning your body away but holding your gaze against him, âA weakness I won't be willing to extend again in a hurry-.â
â-Please,â he halted you with his gentle, careful whisper, âI'll stop, I'll behave. I was just being playful. It's-... It's been a while.â You shake your head, offering him a soft smile.Â
âIt's been a while for me since I've received such an intentional pursuit too,â you offer him, giving him a soft, tight-lipped and sheepish smile, âI tend not to lean in, but my captain gave me a little push earlier today. This is what my new leaf looks like, believe it or not.âÂ
Your companion gave you a soft grin, a knowing look found in his eyes as he offered you his arm and clutched the assembling bag of groceries you ordered on behalf of Penguin.Â
The questions fleeing from his lips, from what your current passions and hobbies were, to your family and crew felt organic and natural in each fluid sentence. It felt like you were talking to an old friend, his caramel eyes holding something within that seemed truly familiar and all-knowing.Â
His smile never left his face, the softness found in his expression was soothing and almost dreamy. You felt your heart swell the longer you spent with him.Â
As you rejoined the crew, you introduced him to your friends and comrades as, âThe Smartass.â He didn't seem to correct you, only offering a soft smile and holding up his hands defensively and confirming the soft title.Â
The glare from your captain to your blonde guest never left him, feeling as perplexed as you were the longer you held discussion with him. You gently excused yourself from your guest and moved over to your captain's side.Â
The bearded stranger laughed alongside the Heart-Pirates, enjoying a few lengthy monologues from Bepo and balancing the soft teasing from both Shachi and Penguin with fluid-like ease. He was a natural, and it was unnerving to witness such ease and rapport from a stranger to the crew.Â
Sitting down beside Law, you looked down at him and gently nudged him with your shoulder.Â
âDoes he seem familiar to you?â you asked Law, gently nudging your shoulder with him. âHe kind of looks like-.â
â-Donât say it,â Law growled below his breath, âIt can't be. He's dead. Don't, and this is the last I'll speak on it, you hear?â You gave him a gentle nod, excusing yourself from his side and gently bowing out to leave the table.Â
âI understand,â you whisper quietly, softly pressing your lips to his temple and turning away, âGive my best to our guest. I think it's better if I just bow out now before I say something stupid.â
âI didn't mean-,â Law began, turning to face you and reaching his hand out towards you, only to stop as your words covered his.Â
â-Goodnight, Law. I'll see you in the morning, okay?â you gently smile at him, softly upturning your eyes as they meet with the ground in a stopped bow. âIf both foreign captain's offer you any trouble, send them my way and I'll sort them out.âÂ
âAnd your new friend, the smartass?â he asked you in a soft growl, âWhat you want me to do with him?â You shook your head, softly smiling at the way the blonde was gesturing and speaking with animated gusto with Penguin, Shachi and Bepo while they all sat and ate their dinner.Â
âHe seems rather involved with whatever is going on over there,â you confess in an amused hum, âIf he's too much trouble, send him away. If not, enjoy him. I'll be in my quarters.â You gently turn towards your guest, nodding to him to excuse yourself with a polite smile.Â
He snaps away from his conversation and begins to move to stand with a subtle urgency in his step. Shaking your head, you urge him to stay and giggle in response to his soft fluster. His eyes darted between yours, softly slinking back to his seat and looking up at you with his eyes rounded and innocent.Â
Once away from the troop, your bearded guest turned his sights onto your captain and gave him a gentle smile. A smile Law knew all too well.Â
A phrase from the past, a momentum of the friendship he had with the heart of the Donquixote pirates, the smile that held everything in its soft emotion.Â
âIf you ever think of me in the future, I want you to remember me smiling.â
Law immediately sprung up from his seat, kicking the discarded stool behind him and marched over to the blonde guest while uncaring as to who saw.Â
âYou're not him,â he barked down at the blonde man, Law's eyes wide and feral in nature, âYou're not. I won't believe it. This is some trick, some cruel gamble.â The blonde man held out his hand defensively, gently attempting to soothe him and repress his fiery temper with a soft gesture.Â
âListen, kid,â the man softly whispered, his eyes rounded and feigning innocence, âYou need to keep calm.âÂ
Lawâs eyes widened as his heart caught in his throat, immediately raising his hand and calling for both, âRoom,â and âShambles,â to give the two of them a moment of privacy to talk.Â
Blissfully ignorant and consumed with your own plight and struggle to withhold your emotions, you simply dove back into chronicling in your journal to cast aside your comparative narration regarding your new potential lover.Â
Several hours had passed, your mind finding escape within your pages enough to remove your memory from the dull ache reawakening your love for a man lost to you. Shaking your head, you gently coax all thoughts aside from work from your mind. Carving words in code onto your page, you gently discarded several blemishes from your divider and slouched back into your seat.Â
A gentle knock on your doorframe calls you away from your work, prompting you to look up and witness the lanky form smiling at you in the threshold of your room.Â
âLaw said I'd find you here,â your guest hummed teasingly at you. You turned your whole body around in your swiveling chair and lulling your head to the side, âHe's a fine young man, you've done so well with him.â
âExcuse me?â you arch your brow, scoffing at him and eyeing him up and down, âDo I look like his mother?â The guest all but slipped and tumbled unceremoniously against the doorframe, mumbling his apologies and stuttering.Â
âN-No, I just. He said-... didn't you-? Did you-?â he continued to relay, tripping and stumbling within your office and causing your brow to arch up and your lips to purse.Â
âSlow down before you fall over more than your words and your feet,â you shake your head, gesturing with your hands to welcome him in, âCome on in, make yourself at home.â He smiled up at you, gently walking in and collecting himself.Â
âWhat I meant to say was,â he straightened up his pale shirt and fixed the seams at his wrists, âI spoke in depth with your captain. He's grateful to have you still with him after all this time, and all you've been through together.â You look down your nose at him, puzzled by the words he's producing, the flurry seeming more cryptic than ever.Â
âOh, and how did you manage to coax that out of him, I wonder?â you scoff, folding your arms over your chest and offering him a scolding look. He raised his hands defensively, remaining silent to the cause and always gentle in his movements.Â
âCall it âshared historyâ, if you like,â he offered, shrugging his shoulders and biting back a soft smirk. You rolled your eyes, gazing over to your desk and finding your gaze immediately drawn to the locket you drew out for comfort earlier.Â
âA friend of yours?â he asked, his head tilting to the side and reaching for it with his thumb and middle fingers. While you would normally halt such a touch to something so personal, your heart clenched firmly as you forced yourself to stop.Â
As he held it up to his face, his eyes held a sense of purity you thought you almost recognised. He rolled the pad of his thumb over the piece, his face seeming to hold himself back from saying something he felt he shouldnât.Â
âHe was my best friend,â you confessed in a soft whisper, turning your face away from him to gaze down at your boiler suit uniform. Avoiding his gaze seemed to spur you on, your soul screaming at you to talk about your emotions with a non biased party. Taking a shaky inhale, you gulped back and poised a question to your guest.Â
âWould you mind if I spoke about him?â your voice was almost too quiet, but your question was answered immediately by your guest with an urgency you could almost laugh at.
âPlease.âÂ
You fought back a shaky laugh at his haste, gently rising a smile to your lips while continuing to peer down at your uniform. Your guest, the smartass, was really growing on you, and you were grateful he allowed you the freedom to use him to pour your heart out about your lost love.Â
âHe was⊠everything to meâ you began at the beginning, your smile beginning to shake at the corners, âAlthough we didnât speak for some time, his selective mutism ensured that - a long story.â You held your hands up defensively while you moved your head to gaze out of the window.Â
âHe always listened when I needed him to. And⊠When he told me the truth, about who and what he was,â you bit the inside of your bottom lip to halt your emotion from swelling to full intensity, âHe told me to stay behind, remain bound to the desk beneath the whim and thumb of his older brother.â You snuck a look at your guest to gauge his reaction, his back remained turned to you.
âI said ânoâ.âÂ
Your guest chuckled at your comment, his shoulders shaking with a clumsy laugh. His laugh was contagious, mixing with yours as it fell effortlessly from your lips. Even his laugh held that familiarity to you, and you felt at ease with his close proximity.
âWhy did you go with him, if you donât mind me asking?â he queried, the small chirp in his question felt innocent and prompted you to smile a little wider, âWas it the boy? Your captain spoke to me about it a little.âÂ
âLaw was sick,â you nodded to him, âBut that wasnât why I came with him. I⊠I wasâŠâ You steadied yourself, gently taking in a large breath and breathing out steadily, âI was so, desperately in love with him, I couldnât bear the thought of him leaving without me. Selfish, I know.â You shrugged, watching the manâs back as he continued to stare down at the image of you and your heart within the warm light.
âYou really loved him, didnât you?â his voice fell from his lips in a soft whisper. âWhy didnât you ever tell him?âÂ
âWhoâs to say I didnât?â you giggled in response, toying with the sleeves of your boiler suit before rising to your feet. Walking over to stand beside the taller man, you donât move to gaze up at him, only peering at the locket in his hand, âI told him I loved him every day.â
âHow?â the question left his lips before you uttered the last syllable of your former sentence. This prompted you to snap your gaze up and meet his eyes as they bore themselves into the image within the frame.Â
Truly taking him in, really studying him, you could see the melancholy in his face. The soft creases in the corners of his eyes, soft pucker lines from cigarette addiction, the scruff of blonde and silver in his beard, and the soft curls framing his face. He was so beautiful, you felt yourself becoming lost in his presence. The deep sadness swelling within his chest escaped from within, littering his cheeks with a slow outpour of emotion from his eyes.Â
âIn the little things,â you nodded to him, placing your hand over the locket and gently holding the strangerâs hands, âIn the way I made his coffee, in the blanket Iâd draw over his chest to keep him warm while I kept watch. In how I would clear up the rum bottles to hide from Law, and in the soft touch I would sneak with him.âÂ
Rolling your thumb on the back of the strangerâs hand, you demonstrated the initiation of a gentle and innocent touch.Â
âHe probably didnât read much into the actions, but this is how I showed it,â you shrugged, stilling your motions and holding your hand still in his. His other hand timidly reached up to withdraw the flower from your ear and fiddled with it in his fingertips. You sighed softly, truly enjoying being able to rid yourself of the burden caging your heart with him.
âDo you know what my favorite part of today was?â he asked, a softness in his eyes and his heart pressed on his sleeve. He finally shifted his vision from your hands to your own eyes, darting between them gently.Â
âTell me, Smartass,â you smirk at him, gently caressing his bearded cheek with your unoccupied hand, and smoothing your thumb over his jaw. In a bid to return playfulness rather than heavy conversation about love and loss with him, âWhat was your favorite part?â
Placing the flower down on your desk, he removed his hand from yours and softly returned the locket to its former position. In just those actions alone, you couldâve seen that same man you were speaking of within him - but that couldâve been that hope you spoke of momentâs prior with Law.Â
His hands now bare reached towards you, gently drawing you closer to him and pressing his forehead against yours while stooping low. You closed your eyes on impact, almost expecting a kiss from the stranger but happy to sit in his presence and share breaths with him. Spectral golden dust began to surround his body, pooling at his back and spilling down to fall at his feet, prompting his anxiety to rise and propel him to confess.Â
âI had the chance to fall in love with you all over again.âÂ
Your shock was evident on your face, your eyes widening at witnessing the otherworldly transformation of the man in front of you.Â
âRosinante?â you choke back your sob, the swell in your chest threatening to burst and force tears from your eyes immediately. Pulling away from his forehead, his face morphed with the aid of the golden dust and shedded his beard and shortened his hair.Â
âI'm here,â he whispered, softly reaching down and claiming your hands within his own, âAnd I'll be waiting for you thereafter. Always.âÂ
Your heart burst at seeing the young man once more, makeup on his features and that smile you loved splitting up his face. Every emotion burst in your chest and flooded your cheeks with warm, heavy tears. The unspoken questions of how, why, when, what, and who couldnât release from your lips regarding his ethereal presence: especially now with the presentation of large, black wings in lieu of his cloaked jacket.Â
His body began to fade, the light shining in your eyes prompted you to squint to continue to gaze at him. Instead of asking the questions that plagued you, and leading truly with your heart, you managed to stutter out an articulation of your sorrow.Â
âHow can I move on without you? How can I live without you, Corazon?â you whimper out, gently reaching up and surging your head forward to meet his chest, âWhat should I-...? How can I-...? I can't-... Please, I can't move on without you-.â
â-Whichever person you welcome into your heart next, mi amor,â he whispered calmly, softly pressing his lips to your forehead and fighting the urge to release his own tears, âRest assured, my heart is big enough to hold them with you too.â
âCorazon-.â
â-I love you.â
Your cabin split with a flash of gold, a flutter of black wings was all that echoed as you were once again left alone with your thoughts. All that remained was gratitude that you had what little time stolen from you from the beyond, and the hope that you would see him again one day.Â
Once your tears dried up, and you deemed yourself appropriate enough to explore the corridors and halls of the Polar Tang, you would find your Captain in much a similar shape as you were. His face was stained with emotion, his eyes red and puffy while his heart was lighter than it had been for some time.Â
âDid you see him, or was it all a dream?â he asked you, using the back of his sleeve to clear his cheeks of their spillage.Â
âI saw him,â you nodded, immediately moving over to him and circling your arms around his shoulders to soothe him, âAnd we will see him again.âÂ
Law nodded into your chest hastily before his lips began to huff out heavy sobs. You never dreamed of hushing him through it, feeling the tension boil over in your own heart and beginning to mourn for your lost love all over again.Â
âHe said he was proud of me,â Law whimpered, his hands grasping the back of your boiler suit in heavy fistfuls, âAnd he loved us both so much.â You nodded, burying your eyes into the mop of dark hair at the crown of his head.Â
For the next several moments, you both allowed one another to sob openly in the comfort of each otherâs arms. The tightness in your chest felt itself becoming untethered the longer you clung to one another. After allowing yourselves the time you needed to calm down, you softly whispered into your captainâs hair.Â
âI know I donât tell you enough with my words,â you rubbed his back and gave him a reassuring squeeze, âI love you, Law, as much as one friend could love another. I would follow you anywhere, as my captain and as my friend.âÂ
Law held onto you further, his bottom lip quivering at the beginning of a rise of fresh emotions.Â
âStay with me?â he asked innocently, âJust like we did all those years ago?âÂ
âOf course,â you nod, pressing a kiss to his temple and holding him firmer against yourself, âFor as long as you need.âÂ
For the next few weeks, the two of you would become as inseparable as you once were all those years ago. You were a comfort to one another, and that was all you needed to be until you were ready to part from shared quarters.
âYou will look as if the years were never taken from you, a body that shouldâve been yours should you have lived,â the winged Avariel confessed to Rosinante with a gentle hum in his tone, âThey will likely not recognise you, regardless of how you dress and present yourself.â
âThey will still know you as the man you once were, even in the form you are now, you will be familiar to them,â the man removed his cowl, offering it to Rosinante with open hands, âBut you are not permitted to give your name in any form. No âCorazonâ, no âRosinanteâ, no âDonquixoteâ. If your name is spoken, you will return to me immediately.â
The blonde nodded his head, his heart beginning to stir and vibrate in longing. His gut clenched, his breath slowly returning to him as an ethereal ray swirled from the pool around his body.
âYou will only have this day, and this day alone,â The figure stepped closer in, donning the wings on Rosinanteâs back while pressing his forehead against the blondeâs own. âYou will never be able to do this again, and remain here with me in The Under until you are reunited with those you love at the waters.â
Rosinate felt his body shift and change, age weathering his features. The sprouts of scruffy hair on his chin had his eyes begin to pool over with a bittersweet sorrow. He had always wanted a beard, but his marine lifestyle and his presence with the Donquixote Pirates required him to remain neat and tidy until he served his purpose. Knowing, should he have lived, he wouldâve had a beard growing shaggily on his face meant he wouldâve chosen a life of freedom and piracy. Before he came too involved with the way he looked, the figure spoke to him once more.
âDo you understand, Rosinante?â
âA day is all I need, sirâ he confirmed with a soft whisper, clapping the wings onto his back and donning the shrouded cowl with a gentle clap over his chest to honor the otherworldly man, âAll I'll ever need.â
âI just need to tell them how proud I am of them,â he whispered, feeling life return to him with the flutter of darkened wings firmly shaking to life, âAnd tell them both how much they meant to me.â
I'd be so afraid to eat any of it. It's way too pretty! I mean come ON the man wove an entire bloody basket out of CHOCOLATE. That is art! You my good sir, are an artist!

The Stars Made It So Midorima Shintaro x F! Reader
A/n: Hey everyone, I know I still have a few requests I need to get to and the Hazbin Hotel story, but to get the creativity flowing I thought a few one shots would be a good idea! So I hope yall enjoy it!
A soft tune fluttered through the Shintaro household as a young woman moved about in the kitchen, working on what appeared to be a pasta dish of some sort. You continued to hum the tune as you moved about stirring the pot every so often and readying other ingredients as needed.
Then, before you could continue onto the next steps of the meal, your focus was broken by a soft tug of your pant leg. Looking down, a soft smile graced your features as you stared into the adorable features of your young ten-year-old daughter, Shina.
âHey sweetie, do you need something? Dinner will be ready soon.â
She just shook her head, making her shoulder-length forest green locks swish back and forth. Her big (E/c) eyes looked up at you with a soft determination. âI wanna ask you something about you and Daddy. Daddy wonât give me a straight answer because heâs aââ she paused for a minute, trying to figure out the right word. âTsun-Tsun!â She said with a pout.
You tried to suppress the giggle that found its way to your lips. You should probably tell her not to repeat the things you call Midorima, but it was too darn adorable hearing that phrase from her lips. âWhat do you want to ask that Daddy wonât answer for you?â
Shina let out a sigh. âWell, I have to write a report on my parents for school, so I wanted to find out how you and Daddy started dating. But when I asked him, all he said was âThe stars made it so.ââ She said, mocking how Midorima talked.
This time, you let the laugh loose. Well, he wasnât entirely wrong. Stars did have a hand in it, but not how Shina thought. Taking Shina by the hand, you led her over to a nearby love seat. âWell, your father wasnât entirely wrong. Stars did have a hand in it in a way.â
Shina gave a confused noise and looked down at her hands in her lap. âWhat do you mean, Momma?â
âWell, it all started back when your father and I were in high school. I was the manager of the school his basketball team competed againstâSeirin, so we came across each other quite a bit.â
***
â(Y/n)! Watch out!â You heard Teppei yell out. But it was too late you looked up from your manager's clipboard and out towards the courtâŠonly to be greeted with a basketball to the face.
Letting out a very unladylike grunt as you pushed yourself back up from the bench. âAlright, that ball had better be a stray ball from my team and not from a certain over certain and uptight broccoli head. Or there will be hell to pay.â You growled out efficiently, scaring Koga and the others on the bench with you.
âTch. What have I told you? If you do not carry the lucky item for---â the source of your annoyance paused. â what was your star sign again?"
You grumbled your reply.
"Ah, yes. You are bound to have bad day after bad day. And be practically a magnetic force for stray basketballs.â
Riko handed you an ice pack, and you took it gratefully. Then, with a bit of effort, you stood from the bench and stomped over to your sole source of irritation and the plague of your thoughts ever since Seirenâs first game up against ShotokuâMidorima Shintaro. The boy with an amazing amount of OCD, a penchant for relying on the âstarsâ for his good fortune, and as much as you hated to admit a phenomenal ability to shoot from literally anywhere and make it in almost every time.
âA magnet? Really? Well, this wouldnât happen if you and your guys would be more careful while playing! Andââ you threw a glance at Kagami. âIf someone was more aware of his own surroundings too.â
âHey!â
Midorima merely sighed and went over to Shotokuâs bench and retrieved what looked like a small, gold, and blue circular box. Then, after pushing up his glasses like he always does, he handed it to you. You took it in your hands, but as you looked up at him not only in confusion but to ask Midorima what this object was, you noticed something very interesting on the greenetteâs face.
WasâŠthatâŠ.
A blush?
Was the Generation of Miracle's top shooter blushing? Just by giving a box?
âWell, are you going to see what it is or just keep staring at it? There is only so much time in a time out, and you are wasting it.â
Tch. He never changes, does he? You opened the box, and inside it, was a small yet rather cute astrodome. One of those light dome things, that when the lights are off in a room, you turn that thing on, and it shows you all of the stars in the night sky.
âBut Midorima whyââ
âIt is simply your lucky item. Maybe with this, you will no longer be as clumsy as you are or a magnet for basketballs.â
Your lip curled up slightly. âI really donât know whether or not to take that as a compliment or an insult, but thank you, Midorima.â
He shook his head and waved you off. âI merely wanted to offer a meager gift, is all. Something for helping me find my lucky item back when we first met.â
You smiled softly. Heh, yea, that was before I knew what an infuriating broccoli head you are. You thought. But, he does have a few good characteristics, and if you were, to be honestâhandsome as well. Not that you would ever say that to his face.
âAnd he wanted to try to find an excuse to try to ask you out too (Y/n)- Chan! But since he probably would chicken out, Iâm here to give him a shove. So, you can say that basketball to the face was kinda my fault, sorry.â Takao said with a snicker.
You felt your cheeks warm, and you immediately met Shintaroâs eyes with the same look of shock, although you were pretty sure he was redder than you at that moment. âUhm, is this true Shintaro?â
Apparently, the use of his first name throws him off even more, but regardless, he let out an irritated huff and adjusted his glasses. âNo use in hiding it, I suppose. Yes, the blundering idiotââ
âHey!â
ââIs correct. I did and do intend to ask if you would like to accompany me to dinner. Perhaps tonight after the game?â
You let out a giggle and nod. âWho would have known that you were so irritating because you liked me all this time. You really are a Tsundere. But yes Shintaro Iâd love to go out with you.â
***
Shina smiled and giggled. âSo, I guess Daddy was right after all.â
âI usually am.â
Your head whipped towards the staircase to see your lovely Tsundere husband leaning against the railing with a small smile on his face. âHave you been here the whole time hun?â
Shintaro pushed off of the railing and walked over to the two of you. âI came down just as you were to the part where you were telling our child that I was a Tsundere and had to use Takao to ask you out.â He said with a small chuckle.
âEh heh. Well, he did help you out in a way.â
âI suppose. But if we have to get down to the bare bones of it. I believe it wasââ
âPredestined that we ended up together. I know, love.â You finished for him and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
âEww. Momma!â Shina complained.
You and Shintaro just giggled at your daughterâs antics.
Predestined or not, you guess you and Shintaro truly did end up dating because the âStars made it so.â
A/n: How'd you guys like that? I love Kuroko no Basket it's such a good anime and so underrated. If any of yall have any requests I'm more than happy to hear them and write them! NOTES: happy pocky day!! I think this game is actually really cute teehee. whatâs ur guys favorite pocky? (mines the chocolate or matcha one đđ)
reader is g/n, reader is yuu
GOES IN FLUSTERED, COMES OUT CONFIDENT
you caught him so off guard. he was just minding his own business, doing his thing, then suddenly you hit him with a game like this? really are you trying to kill him, prefect? does this count as a confession?? he feels hot, is his face red? he didnât even know pocky day existed!
despite his internal panicking, how could he possibly say no to you? placing the biscuit between his lips, letting you have the chocolate side (or whatever flavor u want) like the gentleman he is. slowly, bite by bite his face inches closer to yours. his heart is killing him, but he doesnât dare to lose. finally reaching to the midsection, his lips find yours, sharing a small sweet kiss before pulling away.
that was much more fun than he thought itâd be. how about another round?
riddle, trey, jack, kalim, silver, malleus
GOES IN CONFIDENT, COMES OUT A LOSER
he was so smug when you asked. say less prefect! heâll play the game with you since youâre so desperate!
then suddenly he gets second thoughts once you both begin to bite down on the biscuit. little by little, the proximity between you two began to close, his heartbeat racing at the speed of light. thump thump thump. he could barely control his breathing and his palms were beginning to grow sweaty. by the time youâve expected a kiss, he pulled away, feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed.
his cheeks were burning hot and there was a discerning look on his face that screamed flustered. with all the talk he had before, maybe this reaction was better than the anticipated kiss. but whereâs the fun in that? you pull out another pocky stick, putting it between your lips for a second time with a devilish grin. youâre killing him, prefect.
ace, cater, ruggie, epel, sebek
A LOSER
had to think long and hard about playing. not cause he didnât want to, but because he knows heâs going to humiliate himself in front of you.
so how did he find himself standing in front of you, with a pocky in his mouth, inching closer and closer to your face after each passing second? this. is. bad. heâs actually going to fail and look like a godforsaken fool. is his face red? itâs red isnât it? he shouldâve known better. not even halfway, he backs up, covering the lower half of his face with his hand.
please forgive him, but he might just DIE and EXPLODE if he hadnât done what he just did. itâs not just about his safety, itâs about yours too. please donât tease him heâs already so embarrassed for being a wimp.
heâs already weak in the knees just being beside you, kissing you would be a whole nother story.
deuce, azul, idia
A FUCKING TEASE
another smug one. except this one has plans to win and actually stick to it. rather than just standing in front of you, he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you in closer. you hesitate for a moment, taken aback by his bold actions.
the game grew intense, his eyes staring daggers into your own. youâre not even sure if he was blinking (he wasnât). he took in your reaction, engraved it in the back of his mind, and plans to replay these moments like they were a cinematic masterpiece. just when you were about to pull away, his lips meet yours, sharing a breathtaking kiss.
your face was warm and wore an expression of shock. he loved it. ah, ah, ah, not so fast prefect. technically that was a tie! whatâs a game without a winner? looks like another round is in order..
jade, jamil, rook, lilia
SOMEHOW A WORSE TEASE
pocky game? why would we want to do that when he could just do this?
cupping your cheek, he leans over and places a chaste kiss on your lips. it was a gentle kiss, contrasting with the way his hands traveled down to your waist, holding my you firmly in place. his eyes bored into you, enjoying your shock. he was smug. so smug. you could feel him smiling against your lips, leaning in closer and closer til you finally had the opportunity to push him away.
he only smirked in return, letting you go, grabbing a pocky and walking away as if nothing happened.

Summary: Your roommate is strange, youâve always known that. Most of his habits seem like harmless eccentricities. His insistence that you lock your door when you sleep, due to his âsleepwalking,â confuses you more than anything. But when you forget one night and awaken to him standing over your bed, teeth bared, you start to think maybe thereâs more to Law than meets the eye.

Halloween Special 2024
Your roommate was a strange man.
You had always known that, of course, from the moment you stepped foot into the house. It was old, built to be so beautiful and grand you could have confused it for a temple, a place of worship. And the rent he offered was far too good to be true. You couldnât afford a studio for what he asked you to pay, let alone half of a gothic mansion to be shared with a mysterious and handsome man. There had to be something wrong with him, some reason he would give this offer to you of all people. He insisted it was just too big of a house to live in on his own, too lonely for one person.Â
âI justâŠhate being alone,â he had admitted.
You didnât believe that, not from someone as quiet as him.
You were extra sure he was strange when you had your first real conversation. He remained flat and reserved until you mentioned you had seen his comic collection, which made him light up like a Christmas tree. He told you about Sora, Warrior of the Sea for two hours after that, with a boyish enthusiasm you had never expected from a perpetually exhausted man covered in tattoos. It was cute, though he didnât appreciate it when you pointed that out, cheeks growing pink and lips growing into what he would insist was not a pout. Yes, you had always known Law was strange, but in a fun way, the kind that brings more fond smiles than exasperation.
But some of his habits were starting to make you think he wasnât quite as harmless as you had convinced yourself.
The first time you awoke with him standing over you, eyes flashing in the dark, you screamed. He had the nerve to jump back as well, as though you had scared him. Sleep walking, he had called it. You donât know many people who sleepwalk with their eyes open and their teeth baring down on you. But he was so apologetic, you couldnât help but let it slide.
âIâve just been so tired from work lately,â he had admitted quietly, cheeks pink and voice tight with embarrassment. âThat hasnât happened since I was a kid. Iâm sorry. IâŠdonât really know how to stop it, but Iâll try. Maybe I need to get more sleep.â
âI think you should,â you had agreed, dripping with good natured concern. âI donât mean to be rude, but you look like you havenât slept in years. Iâve been worried about you, honestly.â
He chuckled. âI appreciate it. Maybe I do need a bit more rest. ButâŠmaybe you should sleep with your door locked. Just in case I sleepwalk again. I wouldnât want to give you such a rude awakening twice.â He had said something else, but frankly you were a little too focused on his hands flexing nervously, showing off his long, tattooed fingers, to catch whatever it was.
And since you had taken his advice, you hadnât woken up to any more men lurking over your bed. You had, however, woken up to the jiggling of your door handle more than once. One time, you had even heard a knock echoing through the room, though he didnât answer when you called out to ask him what he wanted.
You also couldnât help but notice how empty the fridge and pantry were, or how little you saw him eat. He had a small snack here or there, but he seemed to subsist mostly on coffee and whatever he keeps in those tumblers he always has nearby. You had asked once, but he brushed it off, changing the subject not-so-subtly. You assumed they were protein shakes, or some other supplement he used to avoid having to sit down and enjoy a real meal. A lot of Lawâs life seemed like he was actively trying to avoid living it. He had his hobbies and friends, of course, but any of the mundane pleasures of life, like eating, sleeping, or even human interaction outside of his chosen few people he avoided like the plague. He focused on his work, and anything else was either carefully penciled in or discarded entirely.
Every conversation you had about it was unproductive. He insisted he was fine, that this was just how he was, but there was always a tension around him, one you canât help but think would disappear if he would only allow himself to live for once. But you canât say that to him. How can you ask a man if he even enjoys being alive?
But tonight was the night you would learn your concerns were all for nothing, due only to a lack of information, and nothing more.
You try another conversation about your concerns when he wanders into the kitchen while youâre cleaning up. You know it wonât lead anywhere, but you have to try. âDo you think youâve been sleeping better, Law?â
He hums noncommittally.
â...Have you actually been trying?â
âIâveâŠhad a lot to deal with.â
You frown, turning around to face him. âHas work not let up at all? Youâve been running yourself ragged for months.â
He avoids your eyes. âItâll pass soon.â
âThatâs what you said two months ago.â You reach across the counter for his hand, fingers brushing lightly against his, and he frantically pulls his hand back as though heâs been burned. You try not to show your hurt on your face, but from the guilt on his, you know youâve failed. âIâmâŠIâm just worried about you. I feel like things have only gotten worse for you since I moved in. Maybe I should justââ
He jumps at that, quick to correct, to move you away from that train of thought as fast as he can. âNo, no, thatâs not true. And you shouldnât do anything different. Having you around has beenâŠthis is the most alive the house has felt in years. Iâm just tired, really.â
âYouâre still sleepwalking.â
He tenses. âAm I?â Something about his tone is strange. He doesnât seem like heâs surprised, or at least not surprised that he is. More surprised that you know.
âYeah. You really didnât start doing that until I moved in?â
âWell, no one would be able to tell me if I had.â He still isnât looking at you.
You sigh. Even knowing how unproductive these talks are, itâs always a disappointment to learn he wonât open up to you. You honestly canât figure out why he keeps you around. Your presence clearly stresses him out, even if he wonât admit it. âJustâŠtry to get some rest, please. And eat a real meal for once. Youâre a doctor, you should know how to take care of yourself.â
He finally looks at you again, self deprecation radiating from his tight smile. âRight. Iâll try.â
He wonât.
But you can. After you finish wiping down the counters, you get ready for a long night of sleep. No point in staying up worrying over things you canât control. A long, warm shower and comfy pajamas are sure to fix your problems.
And they do, really, for the few hours you remain asleep.
But then you hear the door open.
No jiggling handle, no knocking, nothing. Just the quiet creak of the hinges, and footsteps approaching. Youâve barely opened your eyes before you can feel the bed start to shift, and you look up to see the same sight you did months ago: Law, eyes feral and needy, his mouth open, teeth looking particularly long and sharp in the moonlight. Before you can open your mouth, you can feel his body against yours, every inch of him stiff, his hands clutching your shoulders, his teeth growing closer and closer to your neck.
âLaw?â
His eyes are still hazy, his mouth still approaching.
âLaw!â You try to push his arms away, but you find youâre not strong enough to make him budge for even a moment. But the fear in your voice when you realize youâre about to feel his teeth against you makes him stop midair, his eyes focusing a little.
âHuh?â He looks down at you in his arms, staring up at him with wide, frightened eyes, and he throws himself back with a speed and strength you didnât know he had. You can hear him slam against the wall behind him, knocking all of your wall decorations askew and making the wall make a concerning creak. He stares at you, arms out, as though something is pinning him down, and he looks absolutely beautiful bathed in the moonlight that sneaks through your curtains. His eyes are hungry, and you can see his canines peeking out from his lips, almost looking like fangs. Heâs naked except for a pair of gray sweatpants, hair mussed and tattoos on full display.
âLaw?â He stares at you, still torn between hunger and fear. As you shift to sit up, you can see his eyes flicker between your neck and your breasts, your pajamas giving him a clear view of your cleavage. Normally you would be embarrassed, but the tension in the air makes you forget your vulnerability for a moment. âAre you alright?â
âYou forgot to lock your door,â he murmurs, voice thick and deep. He hasnât looked away from you for even a moment, and he hasnât moved an inch.
âYou were going to bite me.â
He licks his lips, something he often does around you. You had always thought it was a nervous habit, but combined with the look in his eyes, youâre starting to suspect perhaps thereâs another reason. âI told you to keep your door locked.â It sounds like speaking takes effort, and you notice his hands trembling slightly.
âWhy were you going to bite me?â
âI need to leave,â he says, not moving, staring intently at your exposed skin. Heâs breathing heavily. His canines seem to have grown even longer. âOr maybe you should leave.â
âYouâreâŠyou havenât been sleepwalking at all. Youâve been trying to get in every night. To bite me. With your teeth.â
âIâŠhave.â
âAre youâŠâ You canât bring yourself to say the word, even with all of the evidence in front of you. It feels unreal, so ridiculous you feel as though youâre watching someone else live through it all.
âYes.â
âAnd youâre hungry?â
His chest is heaving with the effort of holding himself back. âVery.â
âAnd you asked me to live with you anyway?â
He forces his eyes closed, pushing his head back against the wall. âIt wasnât very smart of me. IâŠI knew I couldnât let you leave the moment you walked through that door. I needed you to stay. You donât know what itâs like. âŠI thought I would have more self control than this, really.â He sounds like heâs trying to convince himself more than you.
âWhy couldnât you let me leave?â You hate that your voice has a tinge of hope in it, like you arenât in terrible danger, like your silly little crush on your roommate is more important than the very real threat he poses.
âYouâreâŠyou. And god, I need you.â He huffs out another breath. âYou need to leave, really. Before I lose control.â
That should not have sent a shiver of excitement up your spine. âWhat if I didnât?â
âThen Iâd bite you.â
âAnd what if I wanted that?â
His eyes shoot open, and before you know it youâre pinned to the bed, a starving animal holding you down, every muscle in his body taut. âYouâŠyou shouldnâtâŠâ He struggles to even get the words out, to keep up his good guy act when you can see the hunger in his eyes.
You lean up, exposing your neck fully, and just smile.
Youâre pierced in a second.
The sensation is colder than you expected, and for a moment it really and truly feels like youâre going to die. Like youâve made some horrible mistake for a pretty face and youâre going to pay the price for it. But before long, the ice in your veins fades away, leaving behind a pleasant warmth. It almost feels like youâre drunk, as your eyelids droop and an easy smile comes to your face.
You can feel every inch of Law pressed into you, from his warm tongue against your neck to his solid chest against yours and, most importantly, his hard and aching cock rutting against your thigh as he drinks. He hardly takes any time away from your neck, but whenever he does heâs panting, practically moaning against you. One of his hands goes to your chest, palming clumsily at your breasts, which easily spill out of your flimsy top. He looks down to see them, and groans from deep within his chest. âGod, look at you.â
You try to respond, but in an instant heâs against your neck again, suckling, while his hand finds your nipple and pinches it between his fingers. You moan, far louder than you would ever admit, and your hips rut up into his. You can feel a wetness soaking easily through your pajama shorts, which he finds as well as he rubs against you, forcing the fabric between your folds and rubbing it against your clit. Your nails find his hair, gripping for dear life, and you hear him moan again. You canât see them, but you can practically feel his eyes rolling into the back of his head. You try to speak again, to tell him to please fuck you, to complete the pleasure of the moment, but the only thing that leaves your lips is a pathetic cry of, âLaw!â
He pulls himself back from your neck, lips dripping with your blood, staring at you ravenously. You fear he might swallow you whole. You fear you might enjoy that. His hand comes up, fingers gathering the blood dripping from his lips and chin. He maintains eye contact as he slowly and deliberately licks his fingers clean, refusing to waste even a drop of you. You clench your thighs together, which once again rubs the fabric against your clit just right, making you moan softly. His pupils blow out even further at the sound, his eyes nothing but inky blackness and desire.
You arenât sure if itâs the warmth in your veins or your desire for Law that leaves you so pliable, so vulnerable underneath him. Either way, you find your thighs falling apart and your arms wrapping around him, begging him to take you. You whisper to him, âPlease, Law, please. Finish what youâve started. Have me.â
He leans down to clean the rest of the blood off of your neck with his tongue. âI want you,â he groans. âI have since the moment I saw you. God, youâre so delicious.â You feel his teeth graze against you again, desperate for a second taste. âYou taste even better than I imagined, better than I dreamed.â
âYou dreamed about me?â
âEvery goddamn night. Youâve been haunting me.â He nips at your neck gently. âI couldnât let you leave, no matter how much better it would be for you. Iâm sick.â
You thrust your hips against his again, making his eyelids flutter and a soft choked noise escape his throat. âIâve wanted you just as long.â
âIâve never lost control over myself like this. Youâve done something to me.â He says it almost like an accusation.
You wrap your thighs around his waist in response, forcing your hips together again. âYouâve done something to me, too. Iâd like you to finish it, if you donât mind.â
He growls against your skin, something feral finally unleashing from him, and in one smooth motion heâs ripped off your pajama pants and underwear, leaving you bare and dripping for him. He thrusts into you in one smooth motion, making you nearly scream as your eyes roll back from the sensation. His pace is frantic, like if he stops for even a moment youâll change your mind, or heâll come to his senses, and it will all be over.
âNeed you,â he mutters. âNeed you to stay. Say youâll stay.â Thereâs some deeper thread of desperation here, his voice pleading, nearly afraid. Like after all of this youâll see him for what he is and leave him all alone in this house again, to be forgotten by time and left to rot.
âIâll stay,â you moan. âI wonât leave you, Law.â
His hand finds your clit, a reward for giving him what he needed. His hands are as skilled as you had always hoped they would be, callused and moving exactly how you want them to. He makes you clench around him, ready to come undone so quickly under his attention. âYouâre so alive,â he whispers. âSo beautiful. And mine.â
âYours, yes, yours!â
âForever,â he insists.
âForever!â
With your promise, his thrusts quicken, growing sloppy as he loses what little control he had left. His fingers and hips work frantically, bringing you to the edge easily, causing you to tighten around him as your vision goes white. At the same time, his teeth come down on your neck again, and he spills inside of you, filling you to the brim as he freely takes what he wants.
Youâre panting, your heart pounding out of your chest, your blood flowing freely into Lawâs waiting lips. Once heâs had his fill, he licks you clean again, before raising his head to look you in the eyes. âForever?â He asks again.
âForever,â you confirm.
He smiles. You watch as he bites his bottom lip, his fangs easily piercing the soft flesh, and he kisses you deeply and desperately. The taste of iron fills your mouth, at first repulsive but quickly growing into something sweet and irresistible. You lean further into him, sucking on his lip, taking whatever you can get, only stopping when he pulls back, pinning you down so you canât chase his lips.
âForever,â he whispers, tone filled with wonder. He kisses you again, tenderly, almost worshiping. âAnd you wonât have to spend a moment of it alone.â
Youâre starting to grow unbearably hot, but even as you squirm, Law doesnât allow you to move. He holds you there, under him, cock still inside of you. âLaw, itâs hot. I needââ
âI know. Itâll pass.â He grins, teeth flashing dangerously in the light.
âWhat?â The haziness from blood loss and whatever endorphins came from a vampireâs bite start to wear off, and you start to tense. âWhatâll pass?â
He doesnât give you a straight answer. âIt wonât hurt much, I promise.â
âLaw, what did you do?â
He smiles, nuzzling you affectionately. âIâll teach you everything you need to know. You wonât have to try to figure it all out alone. Itâll be the two of us, figuring it all out together. And weâll have forever to do it.â He kisses you again as the heat overtakes you, turning swiftly from discomfort to pain.
But youâll be alright, of course. Law is right there to walk you through it.
And he will be forever.

Hey everyone! I'm making this post again cause yours truly messed the poll up xD that's what happens when you make things half asleep đ Anyhoot! As I said before, I still plan to fulfill all the requests, I just finally got everything back normal from this crazy week--a fun little trip to the hospital, but I'm good now so don't worry y'all. But I do have a quick question for you guys...
As you guys probably know, I run an etsy shop where you can buy longer than usual story requests. So basically, yall would be getting longer and more personalized content than you do here--trust me it's worth it. Buy yea! I run that and I was thinking about adding a few more listings and that's where you guys come in! Y'all will help decide if this is actually a good idea or not. So without further ado....
A little background on what it is. So. If you go into my shop you'll see that I offer the ability to get a multi chapter commission of any anime or video game you'd like--long as I can look it up if I don't know it, I can write it. (Aside from horror games, those are the only ones off limits for very specific reasons.)
What I'm thinking is offering that as like a backup still in case I don't offer ones yall want and also offer specific genre multi chapter commissions so like you don't have to worry about me not knowing it, it'll be right there for ya.
So what do yall think? Just the regular multi chapter option nothing else needed or that multi chapter option and the specific multi chapter option where I have multiple options available to choose from? (That does include non anime and video game options will start becoming available for example Marvel!)
What kind of option would yall like?
Keep everything as is. It's just fine the way it is
Keep the original multi chapter listing, and also give the multi options
Take away the original multi chapter option & give the one w/ multi specific opt
It looks like we have our results! I'm keeping the original listing and adding the new ones! So stay tuned for new products in my store my friends! Can't wait to show yall!!

Let's get this started shall we?
Catch and Release ~ Ch 2
âI swear when I get outta here, Iâm gonna skin you creeps alive. You hijo deââ Argeliaâs screaming was quickly cut off by a familiar voice yelling out in pain just a few feet from her.
The auction house just barely got another mermaid and they were wheeling her tank in right next to Argeliaâs. But thatâs not what stunned Argelia into silence. No, it was who they wheeled in.
âCamie?â Argelia all but whispered, her deep brown eyes widened. This was the first time she truly felt fear. Not for herself, but for her dear friend.
Camie cringed as she felt another uncomfortable shock from the hellish collar they put around her neck. âH-hi Argelia. It looks like I ended up finding you after all. Iâm sorry I couldnât rescue you myself.â
Argelia shook her head, her hair swishing around in the water of her own tank. âDonât say such things. Weâll find a way out, somehow. And when we do, you can be sure Iâm going to flay every last one of these damn humans.â Argelia growled.
Camie smiled slightly at her friend's fierce protectiveness. âDonât worry Argeliachin, I have friends that I recruited before I ended up here. I was supposed to be part of the rescue crew, but heh. Looks like theyâre gonna have to save me too.â
The young woman just nodded at her friend. She didnât want to spoil any of her hope. Because she knew there was a fat chance in hell that humans of all people would come to their aid. She admired Camieâs naivete though, at least itâll guard her from the pain.Â
âSilence you! I already had to deal with your witch of a friend with she so rudely stuck her tongue out at me! I will not have mere product talk back to me!â Disco, the owner of the auction growled at Argelia.
Disco was a sadistic bastard in Argeliaâs eyes. He was a spindly tall and frankly ugly human male. He always carried himself like he was above everyone and that anyone was below him. Especially Fishmen of any kind.Â
âMake me you filthy human.â Argelia hissed at him.
A disgustingly arrogant smirk crept up onto that evil manâs lips. âWith pleasure.â He murmured.Â
Argelia gave a furious shriek as his circus freaks of minions hoisted her up from the water, grasping at her tentacles in her hair so she couldnât smack them into oblivion. Next thing she knew, Argelia felt the cold snap of the same exact collar they had put around Camieâs neck, putting its unfeeling metal grip around hers.Â
âTry to bite back now honey. One action, one word that I donât like, and you get a little zap from this little collar here.â The man laughed.
Argelia narrowed her eyes but didnât try to test his words. He had already seen what it did to Camie, she didnât need a demonstration of what these demonic things would feel like to her.Â
She huffed as he walked away from her, sinking back into the waters of the tank she was confined to. She might as well take in the surroundings, perhaps she could find something of use that could help her and Camie escape.Â
Looking around, all she could see were cages upon cages. Every last one was built differently to house each occupant. It made her sick to see things like this. Aside from the cages, she could tell that there wasnât much to this place. At least not for the backroom where she and Camie were being held. All there was was the big open space and the curtain where she assumed the perverts and scum would be waiting to bid on all of them on the other side.
âSo essentially, nothing remotely useful at the current moment. Guess Iâm going to have to wait till weâre out there in front of everyone.â Argelia thought as she gazed out of her tank with eyes full of contempt.Â
âAlright you idiots, we had enough of a failure with the first one, you idiots better not mess the presentation of these two up!â Disco yelled out as he walked back in from the curtain.
Argelia glared as Discoâs mime-like goons wheeled her and Camie through the curtain and into the blinding sunlight of what seemed to be the âpresenting stageâ as she heard Disco and his minions call it.Â
âNow everyone I have a special treat! Not one, but two mermaids! A hot commodity so letâs start the bidding shall we?â Disco yelled out to the crowd of what had to be at least thirty maybe forty people in the audience.
â500,000,000 Beli for the both of them!â A loud and obnoxious voice yelled out.
Argeliaâs eyes immediately shot to who yelled and her face scrunched up with disgust. He was a giant of a man, that clearly looked like he had never missed a meal. Slovenly and mannerless. Obviously some kind of royalty somewhere.
The girl let out a huff making bubbles blow around her mouth. âGreat, another human with a Mer-kink. Just what we need.â
