I’ve already seen discourse on Twitter about Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend bc apparently, 46 ISN’T age appropriate for a 55 year old man or something and I’m starting to think some people don’t understand the discussion about age gap relationships….it’s not about age gaps themselves, it’s about adults dating people who aren’t adults (usually teenagers). But also, 46 and 55 is age appropriate jfc

Yeah bruh it’s not the actual gap ffs people, it’s the age gap RELATIVE TO THE PEOPLE’S AGES

Let’s see some examples:

3 year gap between a 15 and 18 year old: BAD. ILLEGAL. FUCKED UP.

3 year gap between a 30 and 33 year old: they’re practically the same age

10 year gap between a 25 and 35 year old: hmm kinda weird, might let it slide, but no.

10 year gap between a 60 and 70 year old: yeah trust me you’re good.

9 year gap between a 20 and a 29 year old: let me put this into perspective, person A could be in their second year of college and person b graduated 7 years before. That’s weird and they’re at INFINITELY different stages in life.

9 year gap between a 46 year old and a 55 year old: they’re both middle aged, they’re both at the same stage in life, they’ve probably both have had some sense of stability for a while now and probably no wildly violent life changes like high school/college/first job/first partner have happened in a while. It’s FINE.

Damien loves head massages. You know it, he knows it, everyone knows it. It makes him at like a cat, almost; he gets all soft and cuddly and bumps his head into your hand. You tease that he should also start purring and it makes him laugh, but secretly you’re pretty sure he definitely would if he could.

“Hey, Y/N,” he says as he drops onto the couch, next to you. Fresh out the shower, his hair is wet and leaving a mark on the sofa but you don’t care anymore, it’s been ruined by the years and the cats and all the people who lie on it with their shoes on.

“Hey babe,” you say and he smiles. He’s a little fidgety, a behaviour you know very well, and you let him when he rests his soaking hair against your shoulder and rubs it against your shirt a bit. You decide to make him wait, squirm a little because you know exactly what he wants but you want him to say it, so you pat his head twice and drop your arm.

“Can you, uh,” he says, trailing off like he has done every time for three years, “you know,”

“I don’t know, Dames. You’re gonna have to tell me,” You tease and he groans.

“I want a head massage.” The words are uttered quickly, like he’s embarrassed even though he shouldn’t be because you’re so used to it by now, it’s become a routine, and it always makes you smile and coo.

“Sure thing, baby! You should have just said so!”

You hold his arm as he flips around to have his back against your chest, and he sighs when your fingers press against his scalp.

“You really are like a cat,” you murmur when he sighs again, eyes shut blissfully because you’re stroking the back of his head.

“Yeah, I blame Zelda and Freyja,” he answers, pushing his head into your hand more, exactly like they both do.

Fifteen minutes later, he’s asleep on your lap and he looks like an angel, hair dry but mussed up because of your hands, mouth open and Zelda making biscuits on his thighs.

“Damien, love, wake up,” you say gently, nudging his arm until he groans and opens his eyes. “You fell asleep again.”

“Oh, sorry.” His voice is tiny, sleepy and content, and he hums as he stretches his arms and falls back onto your chest. “It’s just so nice, you know?”

You nod, nudging him until he stands up.

“Yeah. Let’s go to bed, love.”
