Superman said, “all immigrants are people and deserve respect and love they aren’t aliens they are humans and the people who disagree should die” and supergirl said, “A women’s purity shouldn’t be defined by the man who has caused them harm and the exploitation of young women is disgusting and the men who do such things should die” and they are right
Thinking about a Ryland stays on earth au where he becomes a pretty big public figure. Continuing to work on keeping humanity alive while waiting for the beetles.
During some random interview it's revealed that this man, who is currently doing some of the most important scientific and political work in the world, is also married to famous asshole movie star Tom Ryder.
Gravity Falls x Goslingverse (mainly Courtland Gentry) AU where Colt and Ryland are Mabel and Dipper while Court is his own person
OR! Or!! The Pines and Graces are distant relatives, Stanley and Stanford are cousins with Holland March. They met their weird-kinda-messed-up-in-the-head nephew who was nicknamed "Driver" because of his stunts, and then met Court, Colt, and Ryland.
Few years later when Mabel and Dipper were dumped into Stanley's shack he gets flashbacks about the Gentry-Grace brothers.
3 months later after Stanford went back he's absolutley flabergasted that there's another set of twins in the family
Is it funny to imagine a family tree entirely consisting of Ryan Gosling? Yes, absolutely. But I feel we are completely missing the equally funny (or possibly more so) option, that is NONE of these guys are related, they just all happen to know each other and look the exact same.
Colt and Ryland? Just two dudes who roomed together during college, drifted apart after Colt dropped out to focus on his stunt doubling career.
The Driver and Colt have obviously met on set before, the staff frequently confused the two for one another.
Court and The Driver have probably met before, they both do shady business, neither know the others name but The Driver has been Court’s get away driver once before.
Ryland does online tutoring on the side and has taught Claire before. Claire asks Court if he has a brother that’s a teacher, Court doesn’t know what she’s on about.
Ryland had a slight ‘bad boy’ phase after the ‘staggering waste of oxygen’ incident and he’s science career went off the deep end. The Driver was Ryland’s drug dealer for a VERY short amount of time. Ryland sent him a dealer ‘break-up’ text and thanked him for his time and effort. The Driver was actually kind by touched, you don’t often get thanks in his line of business.
If you asked, they’ll say they don’t see the resemblance.
I can't draw, but I have this idea in my head for a ColtlandGentry AU animatic that I need to put out there:
Scene opens with a teenage Court patching up young Ryland and young Colt (after one of their dad's beatings or maybe after bullies beat them up). Court has his own injuries that are black and blue and bleeding, but he's focused on his brothers.
Colt says: "I'm gonna be just like you." and Ryland does the echo of "Just like you."
Cut back to Colt saying: "No matter what you say I can do."
"I'll follow you until the day-" Cut to Court with a warm, happy smile on his face at his little brother's cute words.
"-I can smile at you and say-" Hard cut to Court, centered on the screen and staring directly at the camera, his face much older now and his eyes wide with horror and grief.
"Big brother, I'm just like you." Camera cuts to be behind Court, and we see him standing in front of a window with multiple TVs, and on half of them, it shows the Hail Mary's launch with Ryland's photo on screen, and the other half of the TVs show the boat explosion with Colt's face on screen and the caption, "Colt Seavers presumed dead."
Come, throw your stones at me, I'm already throwing them at myself for thinking up this heartbreaking idea.
I find funny that people made designs for the kids of Ryland Grace, or any of the characters of the Gosling/Grace family (Colt, Ken, Driver, Court, any of them really), because in my mind they reproduce by mitosis generating perfect copies, all the children of a character played by Ryan Gosling has to also have Gosling's face.
The only characters that may be able to break this curse/blessing is Holly (daughter of Holland March) and Simon (or any character play by Mark), because Simon himself has the whole Markiplier Universe of his side, making his DNA to have a chance against Grace's and actually have a fair opportunity to have a child that look as something else than a clone of one of them.
But the other guys? Jody Moreno? Jackson Healy? They would have mini Ryan Goslings, it is the rule of Gosling/Grace family's DNA in this multiverse.
Normally I like to throw Simon into the PHM 'verse so he can be happy, but let's switch things around for a sec.
Grace fell asleep in his biodome on Erid, and wakes up in the middle of a submarine at the bottom of the blood ocean. He (and Simon) are understandably freaked out by his sudden appearance, and Grace is even more freaked out by his surroundings. They're shouting at each other, Simon is ready to fight, swearing up a storm, while Grace is trying to simultaneously cower away and not touch any of the blood-soaked walls. It's pure chaos.
Suddenly the radio kicks on, Ava demanding to know what's happening. Simon does his best to explain, but he's frustrated and confused and not entirely convinced this is real. But then Grace cuts in, and starts to ramble as he tries to figure out how he got there, talking about wormholes and hallucinogens and the side-effects of long-term heavy metal exposure. He's flustered, and when he gets flustered, he starts talking.
And up on the surface, Ava just freezes. Because she doesn't know how the fuck Grace got down there, but she knows what he is. And what he is, is a scientist, something humanity desperately needs. The Quiet Rapture wiped out most of the human race's scientific minds, and the few that remained were fought over fiercely by the different factions, often to their detriment. Grace would be an incredible resource, if he actually knows as much as his ranting seems to imply.
The blood ocean might be able to help humanity, but a scientist definitely can. Especially a scientist with as diverse a portfolio as Grace. He may have started off as a microbiologist, but during his time on Project Hail Mary and his mission to Tau Ceti, Grace has picked up a little bit of everything. He is arguably the smartest person alive in the universe at the moment. And while Ava might not realize this, she knows enough to recognize that he's valuable.
She orders Simon to come back up to the surface.
Simon is pretty far from the hangar at this point, so the trip will take them a while. As they travel, Grace tries to strike up a conversation to get to know Simon a bit better. It doesn't take much for him to figure out that Simon's situation is awfully similar to his own; sent on a one-way trip to find answers for a human race desperate for any solution. He finds himself relating to Simon, empathizing with him, even if his first impression wasn't the greatest. Besides, Simon is the first human Grace has seen in years, and he's enjoying finally spending time in the company of someone who's the same species, even if Simon is kinda prickly.
At the same time, Simon can't help but be grateful that Grace's appearance on the sub means he gets to leave the blood ocean, even if it's only for a little bit. Grace is also oddly non-threatening, and treats Simon so kindly that Simon doesn't really know what to think of him. He feels a bit guilty, because he knows that he's going to be delivering Grace to the COI so they can essentially enslave him, but it has to be better than dying down here in this fucking death trap, right?
Over the course of their trip back to the hangar, Simon and Grace start to bond.
By the time they actually return and the SM-13 is pulled out of the ocean, they have definitely grown a little bit attached to each other, Grace perhaps more so than Simon. So when the sub is cut open so that Grace can be extracted, he grabs Simon and drags him out too, not wanting to be parted from his new friend.
Ava, of course, orders Simon to go back down right away, now that he's brought Grace to them. He argues that he fulfilled his part of the bargain and that they promised him freedom, but Ava dismisses it and tells him that he hasn't found anything yet, so he hasn't actually served his purpose. Simon is dismayed, but not surprised, as they try to force him back into the SM-13.
Suddenly Grace is grabbing him and dragging him back. He refuses to let them send Simon down to his death, literally hiding Simon behind himself as a precaution. He's shaking with fear as the COI members surround them, but he won't budge, even when Ava orders him to stand aside.
Ava could force the issue, of course. They could push Grace aside, maybe hurt him to force him to move. But doing that would be risky, and she doesn't want any harm to come to humanity's newest hope. So she agrees that Simon can stay, but orders him to be taken to a cell.
Once again, Grace intervenes, and says, no. He's not going anywhere. Realizing he can't trust Ava not to throw Simon back into the ocean the second his back is turned, Grace demands that Simon stay with him. Ava doesn't love it, but if keeping Simon around will make her new pet scientist happy, then fine.
As long as he's restrained. He's a murderer after all. They can't let a murderer have free access to COI's new asset. That part is non-negotiable.
Grace stiffens at her words, but ultimately agrees with more than a little bit of wariness. He's not entirely convinced that Ava is telling the truth about Simon; she's given him no reason to trust her after all. But even if Simon is a murderer, sending him down in that sub to die is a cruel punishment, and Grace can't allow it to happen.
Thus he finds himself working for the COI in this strange, starless universe, trying to find a way to keep the human race going despite dwindling resources, all the while he's got a convicted murderer essentially chained to the lab bench next to him. Grace is miserable, and he hates that he's partially responsible for Simon being trapped here, but hey, at least no one is dying, right?
Imprisoned together, Grace and Simon slowly grow closer, learning to rely on each other as two people stuck in the same awful situation. Grace is determined to keep his new friend safe, and Simon is growing increasingly protective of Grace as the man continues to show him nothing but kindness, despite their circumstances.
And then, one day, there is a raid. Word has gotten out about Grace, and the other factions of humanity have decided they want him for themselves. The COI's starbase is under attack, and the target is Grace. Simon demands that Grace free him from his shackles so that he can fight, and although he's terrified, Grace helps Simon break the chains. Just in time, too, as the first raiders arrive to try to abduct Grace. Simon doesn't know who they are, whether they're from Eden or a splinter of COI or something else entirely. Simon doesn't care who they are. All he knows is that they're a threat to Grace, and Simon refuses to let Grace be hurt.
He fights like the Butcher. Nothing gets past him.
When the attack is finally over, Grace is a wee bit traumatized but miraculously unharmed. Seeing how fiercely Simon fought to protect Grace, Ava finally admits that he's earned her trust, and she officially designates him as Grace's bodyguard. His situation will essentially be the exact same, only he won't be chained up anymore. And maybe he will begrudgingly start to be accepted into the COI as one of them. Maybe.
Simon is nearly overwhelmed with relief. He doesn't care if they like him. All he cares about is that he's finally free. Ava finally kept her promise. Who cares if he's still stuck here with Grace, that's where he wants to be anyways. This is all he ever wanted, the chance to live. And thanks to Grace, he's getting that chance.
Grace is now Simon's angel and his saviour, and he will devote himself to Grace for the rest of his life.
(And eventually let's say Grace stumbles onto a way to re-open the wormhole that he fell through so that the remnants of humanity can travel through it to his universe. The people of Erid wake up one morning and are very surprised to discover that a bunch of human space stations and ships have just materialized in their orbit.
Meanwhile Rocky is just pissed that Grace went and had an adventure with a new friend without him. He is very jealous of Simon, up until he realizes how protective Simon is of Grace. After that, Simon gets Rocky's stamp of approval)
I’ve seen people do au’s of Bloody Mary where Grace’s twin brother is Colt Seavers from the fall guy which I honestly love but I haven’t seen anyone do what I consider to be the funniest option available which is make Ryland Grace an escaped Ken from Barbieland.
Think about it throughout PHM Ryland never talks about having a family he mentions having a girlfriend once in the book all we really know about her is that they moved in together briefly and that she had a lot of stuff.
Let’s say after Ken and Barbie break up. Ken decides to go out on his own and stumbles upon the real world. There he learns about science and becomes completely invested in that pathway. He either eventually figures out how to become a human or he stays a doll which could explain why he was the only one to survive his hyper sleep (and so he can live with rocky longer)
It could explain why he so heavily believes in non water based life so much because he WAS a non water based life form. Water doesn’t exist in Barbieland it’s all plastic.
Furthermore this could explain why he decided to become a teacher being a doll previously it’s only reasonable to assume he’d enjoy kid’s presence the same way Barbie does.
He also loves the beach and we all know that Ken’s previous job was beach
In the Barbie movie the CEO of Mattel states “we’re not worried about Ken…. Ever.” Meaning that it’s likely they wouldn’t care at all if a Ken left Barbieland and perused an education became a scientist and eventually a school teacher.
All this to say imagine Simon and Grace getting into some kind of fight where Simon is like
“You have no idea what it’s like to live your life forced to be a cog in the system. Knowing that what you want doesn’t matter, nobody caring about who you are not even your name matters”etc. etc.
and the entire time Grace is having PTSD flashbacks of this:
And then responds with:
“You wouldn’t last an hour in the place I grew up”
The reason on how Andy got Woody is because Andy's family (or rather his dad's side, specially Andy's great grandfather or just grandfather), was one of the co-creators of the Woody doll and brand. However once space rangers got into the toy industry it was shut down and forgotten.
Andys Grandfather (or great grand) managed to keep one of the rare originals Woody dolls in existence and its original packaging. The grandfather (or great grand) kept the doll as a collectable and passed it down to his son and the son gifted it to Andy.
I'd say Woody is unaware of where he was given to Andy. This is established by the fact that he wasn't played with (bc he's a toy).
stratt and grace and the rest of the phm science team running on 4 cumulative hours of sleep at an unscheduled conference. dimitri and lokken are trying to explain a new complication in the hail mary's fueling system and the resources necessary to iron it out but they keep getting interrupted by government officials butting in until grace (who doesn't even look up from his laptop and checked out of the conversation two days ago) snaps "we raise our hands to speak"
complete silence for like 3 seconds. the french prime minister sheepishly raises his hand and stratt smiles for the first time that week (grace buries his entire head behind his laptop screen for wont of a better option, like jumping straight into the sea)
I just had a vision of an au where some of the Eridians left their planet when the petrova line showed up as a last ditch effort to save their species and find a new home. Rocky’s ship crash lands on earth when he’s young (maybe around like 30 years old?), and 12 year old Ryland and Colt are the ones who find him.
The idea is still a little half baked, but I think I’m gonna make some more comics of it just for fun lol.
Wattpad: pay me monthly 🤩 and we will remove ads for you. also free offline stories I guess as long as you keep paying me. but we have censorship so keep your kinks to yourself. what we don’t have is tagging systems, so good luck trying to find what you want or avoiding what you don’t want to read lol
meanwhile AO3: so everything is free in our house. read whatever you want offline. also no ads. no capitalism. no censorship. be as wild as you want with your fics. also we have tagging systems so you can search or avoid any specific tags, pairings, relationships or characters. whatever you want.
I’m sorry but if you’re still complaining, you don’t realize how good you have it with AO3, one of the last platforms on the internet that is free of capitalism and censorship. just artists and writers creating and sharing their works with the community for free and for fun. just authentic love between artists, their works, characters, stories and audiences.
It terrifies me that there’s so much raging passion in the lgbt+ community that insist on marginalizing asexuals and implying that asexuals don’t deserve to have safe spaces. There’s still so much acephobia so I just wanna know which blogs are genuinely supportive and a safe space for asexuals
