It's 2023.
... Its 2023 and it's the first time tampons and pads were tested with blood.
... You know the products period having people use when we have periods.
The things that are supposed to be designed to absorb blood.
Have for the first time been tested with actual blood!
Are you fucking kidding me?!
Yeah the reason there's blue liquid on the adverts isn't for censorship no no no it's because they've been using saline and water to test how absorbent these things are.
And I don't think I need to explain that blood is thicker than a water.
We have a whole fucking proverb about it.
The people doing the study reported that there isn't any study that exists prior to this.
And suprise they aren't as effective at absorbing blood like initially believed.
Women have been saying this shit for years, people with heavy periods have been saying this shit for years.
And no one gave a fuck.
And said we were just over exaggerating or it can't be that much blood.
And they weren't even designed to absorb blood, but water.
Tampons have been around since the 1930's.
Pads have been advertised commercially as period products since the 1880's.
And no one has ever thought to see if they could do the timing they were being marketed for?!
I'm so pissed.
important reminder for people who menstruate:
if your cramps are so painful you can't do daily tasks, take care of yourself or get out of bed. if you pass out or vomit from cramps. if you can't walk or stand up properly from cramps. if you need to take pain medicine when you get cramps or else you will get sick, pass out, whatever.
seek medical help. people talk about how painful cramps are, and it's true, but there's a level of pain that simply isn't normal, and you need to get it checked

new period poll but i remembered to change the duration this time
if given the option, would you replace your menstrual period with lycanthropy
yes
no
once again, don’t want any terfs touching this. also: doing this a second time bc a lot of people found the old one after it was done (i forgot to change the duration from day to week. this new one will last a week)

Period poverty is an issue that has my heart.
It should never be the case that a woman cannot afford sanitary products.
I suffer from endometriosis and I need to always have a supply of sanitary towels ready. Not just any towels either. I need the thickest heaviest flow towels I can get. I often find myself wondering if I was in a situation where I was homeless and didn’t have access to towels how would I cope?
Another scenario that I often think about is if my daughter had her period and I couldn’t afford to get supplies for her. I would have to steal and tell the judge why I did it with absolutely no remorse. I guess that would be the classic stealing a loaf of bread to feed your starving family scenario.
END PERIOD POVERTY NOW

This looks like a really exciting step in the right direction for female health awareness and discussion. Please check it out!
Menstrual products are a human right, not a luxury.
No one should be forced to choose between food and period products, yet so many in our communities have or will. No one should have to miss school or work, or be forced to use toilet paper, or overuse old period products because of their income. Everyone deserves to menstruate with comfort and dignity.
This Period Action Day, I’ve partnered with Flo Period Tracker App who are working to help women and people who menstruate prioritize their health, and experience wellbeing throughout their cycle. Nearly 1 in 4 students in the U.S. still can’t regularly access period products, and globally many more. To drive change, we’re hosting a joint fundraiser in aid of Period. Inc., a global youth-fueled nonprofit that strives to eradicate period poverty over on my Instagram.

[Digital illustration of a Latina woman with long dark hair with a shopping cart in front of a shelf of period products. The woman is wearing a pink mesh top, two-toned pink pants with an insulin pump clipped to the waist, and pink shoes. The shelves have pads, tampons, period underwear and menstrual cups. The text reads, ‘no one should have to choose between food and period products.’]
