The idea George "punishes" usurpers by cutting their dynasties short is a fan invention.
The modern Targaryen line is descended exclusively from Viserys II, who claimed the Iron Throne over Aegon III's still living daughters after Baelor the Blessed died. It's clear-cut usurpation, and probably an intention use of irony by having Rhaenyra's son usurp her granddaughters.
Yeah, GRRM has his own weird ideas on who needs to be punished and why, but he doesn't use Laser-Guided Karma on undeserving dynasties. Otherwise he wouldn't have gone through so many lords of Harrenhal. Sometimes people just...die. He realizes that. The fans don't.
https://www.tumblr.com/godihatethisfreakingcat/821349503391203329/im-surprised-that-you-didnt-get-canceled-yet-when?source=share you have brought an interesting point. the show has made some people realize how fucked up the general consensus on the blackfyres truly is. this is probably because most of those who talked about the blackfyres were hardcore targaryen stans before the airing of the show. however, the show also brought a lot of new haters who either hate the blackfyres based on the worst headcanons they can come up with, or out of insecurity for their favorites, by trying to erase what daemon and the other blackfyres have and give it all to daeron and his sons instead. but if we are being honest, the conversation around the blackfyres wouldn’t have reached this level of toxicity if grrm had dropped the unreliable historian narrative altogether. grrm has said he finds such a narrative interesting, but i believe he sacrificed too much depth and complexity of the characters for it to work , he doesn’t even execute it well in general, which made the characters feel shallow and weak. i can only count the truly good and compelling characters in fire & blood on one hand. and his fictional historians are not compelling either. i really see no point in writing about the blackfyres through the pov of a historian who hates them so much with no apparent reason, despite never meeting them or even being alive during their era. not many readers bother to read between the lines, and yandel’s writing is so weak and contradictory that sometimes i wonder if there is actually anything to read between the lines, or if it’s just bad writing from the author. so, i suppose that the blackfyres being villainized and victims of the fandom’s nonsensical interpretations is partially grrm’s fault. you cannot expect nuanced discussions about the blackfyres when all we know about them comes from the extremely biased writing of a biased historian who came much later after the main events.
This technically came in just over the line of a workday, but I'll answer it because it was only by eighteen minutes. (No more asks until Friday night, though, guys, okay?) Yes, totally agreed about GRRM's culpability in the Blackfyre narrative and subsequent fandom wars. IMO, getting all these fake "biased historians" to write your laundry list narrative based on how much you want to drive the fans nuts, and then refusing to say what's actually correct, is a lazy way to write and not a substitute for storytelling.
All I ask of this mega-expensive fanfic atp is to nail Aegon´s Bloodstone Emperor moment, nail the storming of the dragonpit, and to call out Cregan Stark being a hypocrite and pardoning Corlys for regicide for some pussy. (Did Black Aly even know Corlys?)
Ok one more thing. Since Tyland didn´t hide all the money beneath the rug I want Rhaenyra´s rule to collapse into anarchy because Daeron, Aegon and Borros are actually competent antagonists unlike in the book. That would be nice

in more pleasant news: this year is seeing the biggest humpback migration in Australian history, bigger than it was PRE whaling. That's right, there are more humpbacks migrating off the coast of Australia than there were BEFORE industrial whaling started.
A huge, fat W for environmentalists and Greenies. what an achievement
we did it! we saved the fucking whales!!!!
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is

sometimes your soulmate doesn’t even exist in this universe. sometimes you’ll only meat your soulmate when your universe and their universe start bumping purses in the eternal void and she gets catapulted into yours and you two fall in love and have a whirlwind romance, then when she goes back to her universe she grows up, has a kid and becomes a vampire for a bit and you’re still 17/18 years old so even if she came back when your universes begin hooking up again you wouldn’t be able to reunite because she’s now an adult and you’re seemingly stuck as an eternal teenager. happened to my friends Tim Drake and Jubilee.
Is it a crackship if it happened in one dubiously-canon crossover thirty years ago?
It´s canon in Marvel 616. Who even knows what canon is in DC.
they were an extremely hilarious pairing
arcane s2 butchered all its characters so hard it even butchered them from beyond the grave
I love how this means Silco was about to brutaly murder the daughter of his dear friend who is part of his tragic backstory for DARING to be adopted by Vander until she reminded him of himself by forsaking her sister in a moment of anger and he went ¨man, literally me. I´m going to foster this resentment so she never heals from her trauma that I caused and I have someone to talk to.¨
Hot take, but Jinx wasn't in the wrong for blowing up the council of fascist oligarchs who ruled the functional apartheid state
Yeah but she was in the wrong for working with the fascist police that killed her parents for years as part of Silco´s cartel.
Im confused by what you mean? I also don't remember the end of season 2 very well because of how badly it was rushed (and I have DID)
And yeah any alignment with enforcers is morally reprehensible
Silco and Jinx worked with Marcus, the Sheriff and leader of the Enforcers, to opress Zaunites so they can profit of their suffering for years. She even framed the Firelights for her bombs so the Enforcers would have justification to kill them like they killed her parents.
Indeed, but season 2 NEVER calls her out on THAT during her "redemption" and deems her blowing up the council as like the WORST shit she's ever done, which is what op is poiting out here???????
Doesn't matter that it wasn't an act of "calculated" rebellion against them, Jinx (like everyone else in Zaun) has the right to hate these fuckers and wanna take them down.
They could've ended up with a very complex and interesting character this season who isn't a revolutionary, did some FUCKED UP SHIT to her own people, like you mentioned, but STILL is correct in hating her oppressors and enacting violence against them. Because no matter how much Silco's 7 year rule hurt the undercity (regardless of his intentions to free Zaun) it doesn't come CLOSE to the amount of damage the subjugation and exploitation PILTOVER has put it through with 200 years of systemic oppression!
The writers are fucking BLIND to this 'cause they genuinely think the worst you can do in this show is hurt Piltover/Piltovians in anyway. To them they are a bunch of "misunderstood" rich people who know no better and are hurting their poor by "accident" and not by DESIGN through the system THEY put into place. And that Zaun is just a filthy place full of evil people (to the point they use a antisemic slur to describe EVERYONE in it in the Pitch Bible) who DESERVE being hurt by their overlords because they are an unruling bunch who should just "behave" and lick the boot stepping on their necks, like good ol' papa Vander who was right all along about how "bad" and "useless" using violence to defend yourself and your people is. . .
. . . except for when foreigners are invading THEN its A-OK to use violence to defend PILTOVER!
Man you... You GET IT.
I guess I have a chip on my shoulder about Jinx. Because she committed systemathic violence in order to uphold a system of oppresion, Silco´s cartel, just like the Enforcers killed her parents to uphold Piltover rule. She and Marcus even had the same boss at the end of the day.
And this is just sweapt under the rug by EVERYONE to concentrate on her attacking Piltover. Haters, stans, TB shippers, Vi defenders, the show itself. NO ONE cares about her being both an oppresor AND a victim. Because that way she´s far easier to love or hate.
But like... it would make her such a better character if they had focused on that fact even at the cost of her likability.
Timebomb would be SOOO much more interesting as a semi-canon/ambigous ship if Ekko´s dead friends meant something post season 1.
Her relationship with Vi and how both of them joined groups that would put their parents down without a second thought for daring to protest against oppresion.
Or imagine if Isha was one of the kids Silco enslaved or if Jinx has killed her parents and there´s a moment of realization about how many Powders she created.
And if they had commited to keeping her a villain or to giving her a redemption instead of this weird third thing they did, the context of her being both a victim and a victimizer could have added sooo much.
But no dead Zaunites killed by parasitic systems don´t matter unless they personally mattered to the protagonists.😒Even to the narrative, Piltover lives are simply more important and the damage caused to them by the people they oppressed NEED to be adressed and attoned for by Jinx, but not the deaths she caused to the people that were underneath her.

Here you can donate to the families in Gaza. We have collected $4,912 / $20,000. 🙏🙏
The voice of truth for every Palestinian 🇵🇸
An Israeli soldier is seen firing randomly toward civilian homes and displacement tents in Gaza, describing the act as “for entertainment.”
At a time when civilians are being killed daily by stray bullets coming from the eastern areas of the Strip, violence is treated as a game wituhout accountability, and without humanity.
This is not an “isolated incident.”
This is not a “mistake.”
It reflects a reality where civilians are dehumanized and treated as targets.
Documenting these acts is a duty.
Silence is complicity.
After the ceasefire !!
Airstrikes targeting displacement tents in Gaza despite claims of a ceasefire and narratives that the war has “ended.”
For civilians on the ground, there is no post-war reality. There is no safety. Only changing methods of the same violence.
A ceasefire on paper does not stop bombs in the sky.
And declarations of peace mean nothing when tents are still being bombed.
Donations for GAZA!!
This donation campaign is for ANAS family. Not for strangers, not for a cause I'm distant from but for the people who raised me, the people I love, the people I'm terrified of losing.
They are in Gaza, trying to survive something no human being should ever have to endure. Constant bombardment, displacement, hunger, fear, and the feeling that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Every day is about staying alive one more night.
If you choose to help, you are not donating to an abstract crisis. You are helping real people with names, memories, and lives that matter to me more than anything.

It´s so funny that I go back and forth between hating canon Jinx as a person, somewhat liking her as a character and reading fics about the amazing, emotionally complex and mutually affectionate version of Timebomb the fandom collectively made up in their heads after season 2 had Ekko just forgive her for everything for plot convenience.
Anyway Season 1 time-skip Jinx is not a missunderstood anarchist that only needs love to get better. You are larping drug cartel-enforcer dog who spent seven years murdering poor people and working with the same authoritarian, corrupt police force that killed her parents and she only started to bit the hand that feed her because hurting others to make herself feel better became her default when her fragile mental state Silco fucked up begins to break down.
Her morals and character arbitrarely change depending on whoever she´s emotionally dependant on at that time (Silco, Vi, Isha, Ekko).
Oh and it doesn´t matter if you secretly feel bad about it, unlike in season 2 in real life years of abuse should not be forgiven because of symbolic gestures and convenient trips to alternative universes where you aren´t a scumbag.
