NIOHURU X // dragula season 5's drag supermonster ✦
reading about the latest court arguments from trump's lawyers is so unintentionally funny. their argument is that trump can't be prosecuted for things he did while in office - presidential immunity. the counter-argument, per the special counsel, is that no, you definitely can be prosecuted for things you did while you were president, that's fucking wild to say otherwise, presidents could do some truly heinous stuff in office, this is ridiculous.
but then the dude is like "but what about all the other presidents who did bad stuff? would they need to be prosecuted???"
LIKE, YEAH. YEAH DUDE. LET'S DO THAT. yeah!
“Could George W. Bush be prosecuted for obstruction of an official proceeding for allegedly giving false information to Congress, to induce the nation to go to war in Iraq under false pretenses? … Could President Obama be potentially charged for murder for allegedly authorizing drone strikes targeting US citizens located abroad?”
like. YEAH. YEAH, DUDE.
"people can use pro-kink language to groom children" yeah thats true. they can also use minecraft to groom children & yet it would still be bad to accuse random people posting about minecraft of being pedophiles innit
“Why are you so upset about adult content bans? You don’t even post that stuff. can’t you just look at porn somewhere else?”
Well, you see, I have this small problem where my very existence is considered adult content by a small but very powerful group of people and I actually rather enjoy being able to exist in public without restriction so uhhhh put that in your bong and smoke it kiddo.
Extremely good point

Finley Ave NW, Atlanta, Georgia.
Think i saw this in a episode of The Walking Dead ? The show is filmed in the state, they must have used a lot of these abandoned houses
Here's the thing about Atlanta (from a long-time resident, though sadly I don't live there anymore). It's not like denser cities like New York or San Francisco, where land is limited so every inch is utilized and buildings rarely sit vacant for long. Situated in the middle of Georgia where there's a lot of open country in all directions (and in fact people from a pretty dubiously wide radius outside official city limits will identify as "from Atlanta" without being questioned much unless they're from one of the rich suburbs), Atlanta is a SPRAWLY city. There are sections well within city limits where you are literally in the woods. In one neighborhood I lived in, we had a backyard and would see deer and rabbits passing through there. And we were technically in the "inner city." We didn't have a lot of skyscrapers except right downtown, but instead of going UP, Atlanta spread OUT.
So here's the thing about a city like that. Because there's so much space, even though there is still a gentrification problem like many other places, and I could write volumes about the way that has pushed poor residents even further to the margins, where by city design there are fewer resources (I myself was affected thanks to the Beltline which turned many low-income inner-city neighborhoods into suddenly hot properties), at least for now, there remain sections that locals refer to as the "forgotten zones" of Atlanta. There are big ones in Vine City/English Avenue (aka The Bluff), Bankhead, Dixie Hills, Oakland City, Lakewood, Pittsburgh, Mechanicsville, and the outer reaches of the West End, just to name a few. Areas that look like war zones, where entire blocks will be filled with abandoned, boarded-up and falling down buildings with at most a small handful of places still being lived in. You see a lot of utterly unsalvageable structures in ruins overgrown with kudzu vines and on the same block there are struggling families and people just trying to survive. I've LIVED in these neighborhoods, several of them, over many years and been part of these communities.
Now that Atlanta's become "the new Hollywood" and damn near everything is filmed there, I definitely recognize "apocalyptic" scenes shot in neighborhoods where I know for a fact, often because they were my neighbors, people still live. I'm not condemning anything especially an industry that brings revenue and hope to a troubled city - something a lot of people might not realize, since the glitzy glamorous side of Atlanta is widely publicized but the fact that it's a city with one of the biggest wealth gaps nationally flies under the radar, i.e. the poorest neighborhoods are absolutely devastated while the rich live in sparkling towers - but it needs to be said that THAT street? Where you need post-apocalyptic gloom with boarded-up, overgrown, and graffiti'd buildings all around? Has people who still live there. By however thin a thread they're holding on, however rough the streets outside, they live there and that's their home. Please just remember that.
My taste for derelict abandoned objects in photography was definitely cultivated in part by growing up around here. I’ve spent my life trawling the suburban industrial counties, post-gentrified hollow communities, even abandoned lots in the city itself.

Impart me in your wisdom of ancient times
one time there was a tumblr user with the url “pizza” and she would just comment on any text post about pizza saying “omg that’s me” and then we found out she had an entire tag dedicated to saying the n word
One time somebody paid $750 for the url ‘hi’ and got deleted in less than a year for promoting weight loss scams
There’s always been something deeply wrong with this place.
A few weeks ago the UN reported that everyone in Gaza is facing a food crisis -and that 1 in every 4 people in Gaza are starving -a quarter of their population is hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people. EVERYONE is hungry -their medical systems have collapsed and there are imminent outbreaks of diseases. How HUMILIATING and dehumanizing it is to have to fight for basic necessities. Imagine seeing a humanitarian truck -something rare because as we know the IOF has been collectively punishing Palestinian people for months now and has been committing mass genocide under the guide of 'war.' Not letting through resources to prevent people from dying from starvation is beyond depraved. And the fact we will NEVER see this on western/European mass media is just... absolutely infuriating.
Remember, Gaza isn't just starving, they are being starved!

Literally the most relatable post on this site
Being an adult means sharing space with assholes. There's gonna be shit you need to do, and the only way to get it is by working with one or more huge assholes. They're not evil. They're not gonna hurt you. Usually they're not even bad people, they're just assholes. And you gotta know how to share space with em.
Being an adult means accepting that you're an asshole sometimes. You can try your very best, and still come off like a huge asshole. It's just gonna happen. You gotta know how to say "Hey man, I was being an asshole. Sorry about that. Won't happen again."
The UK government has drawn up a blacklist of countries they say let people transition 'too easily' in its latest attack on queer migrants.
The reform would mean citizens from the blacklisted counties will be forced to comply with complicated British rules if they move to the UK and gender-recognition certificates (GRC) obtained may not be recognised in this country.
If this goes into effect, this policy would target primarily immigrants.
