Sometimes I forget that Hermes is a trickster™.
So today, I hop in my little car and head out on a three-hour trip to a job orientation in the city I’m moving to soon. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I had another (better) job on the line that I was hoping I’d hear back about sometime soon. I’m a few minutes into the trip, and I get a message from the other job.
Saying the position was filled.
Understandably, I was bummed. I had been desperately praying to Hermes to help things go well, and I really thought that job would be perfect. Stupidly, to my own admission, I was a little mad. I didn’t actually say anything to him (thankfully), but I was still upset (again, stupidly, now that I’m looking back on it). I recognized that that was a stupid reaction, and that he probably had something up his sleeve that I didn’t know about, so I settled in to go to this orientation.
I’m about halfway there, and I get a call from a call center I’d applied to, just for shits and giggles when I was popping applications into everywhere that was taking them. I hadn’t even finished the application. The woman asks me when I’m available to come in for an interview. I tell her I’m on the way to the city right that minute, but I’m short on time, and I have the orientation from 3:00 to 4:30. She says that 4:30 would be too late, and asked if I could come earlier.
I absolutely could not come earlier, but I said yes, because I’m
✨ d u m b✨
So here I am, panicking that I’m going to be late to my orientation to the Not Great Job™, so I call them to let them know. Whoops, the person that was meant to do my orientation is out sick, was supposed to call me to reschedule, and they can’t do it today. So I’m two hours into a (would have been) meaningless trip, if it hadn’t been for the call center. So I go “well, hell, alright then” and go to the call center interview, the entire time being childishly bitter and thinking “Oh my god, why is this all going so badly??? I thought Hermes was going to help me with this”.
…
And now I’m all but hired at a call center with paid vacation, benefits, a lovely atmosphere, and 4+ dollars more an hour, depending on commissions. Not only am I getting a better job, but it’s at a call center, which is all about, y’know, communication and sales.
Those things Hermes rules over.
The entire way home, I could just f e e l him going
As if he was just going
“What, did you think I was gonna make this easy for you? Where’s the fun in that?”
Please.
I truly am in the hardest time of my life right now. Not only and I not able to work due to my illness but my bank account is severely overdrawn. I need all the help I can get. Every little bit helps.
Go to paypal.me/kellyrussell1 and type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries.
I’ve been sick.
You may have noticed I’ve taken a break lately and there are a couple of reasons for that. I won’t get into all of them because I don’t have the energy but the big is - I’ve been sick.
I’m still in the middle of the circus of doctor’s visits and tests and some progress has been made in terms of diagnoses but there’s still a long way to go.
I wanted to make my reentry by a nice good prayer/worship post but I just don’t have the energy to be creative in that sense. So, if you have the time, please post your own worship post. I’m not asking for prayers for me just share your worship with me the way I’ve been sharing my worship with you.
I’m not sure if/when I can resume my regular posting schedule but I hope I can be posting again if irregularly.
Thank you.
I don’t know why I bother.
But this is my cashapp $catsandtea
I’m currently -$1200 in the hole and I just need some relief. Please. I’m literally begging.

✨ beginner polytheist tips✨
I notice a lot of new polytheists and aspiring devotees asking what to do to find their deities/feel closer to them/talk to them/etc, so I thought I’d share somewhat in detail what has helped for me when I chose to put my faith in them - aside from prayer and divination
🌱🔸make plans/rules for yourself and follow them. habit forming is a stepping stone to worship. for me, if I don’t do anything else faith-driven, I at least ring my chime. It doesn’t have to be so obvious, try to work it into your normal routine
🌱🔸just about anything can be an offering! buried offerings are my biggest but writing, brushing your teeth, self control, treat yo’ self, baths, your blog, video games with character select any video games, photos, playlists - you name it. if it makes you think of them, it honors them
🌱🔸on the other hand - if you feel they are stubbornly distant, study them more, try new offerings, look elsewhere. do you have pop culture icons that remind you of someone without inherently representing them? has something at the store been catching your eye? dig deep, follow your gut!
🌱🔸if they do at all, they will not likely present predictably. they have shown themselves to me through physical objects, in birds, in the sunlight between the blinds, in baths, the melodies of my heart, and I suspect endless other variations. but never once did i expect it
🌱🔸 rainfall can be an excellent tool for communication. speak/pray to your deity and listen to the shift in the weather for responsive gestures
🌱🔸 new moons are good for being noticed! light candles to illuminate yourself, talk to them full moons are good for noticing them! turn out/dim the lights and let yourself be overwhelmed
🌱 🔸can’t bury/burn food? don’t like throwing away offerings? your deity might prefer that you eat it for them! if you have strange cravings or see something new, indulge! even if you don’t like it, you tried it for them and tbh that’s just as special
🌱🔸if you’re having trouble branching out, ask your current deity what they think of other gods you are interested in. pay attention when you reread their summaries, was there someone who stuck out this time? don’t forget, the lore is not a set in stone representation of their behavior/interactions with others but it’s important to still be mindful
🌱🔸 if you are trying to use divination, ask your tools what they think of your deities/reach out to a third party diviner some readings might be more willing (and more helpful!) than others.
🌱🔸 if you can’t lucid dream/astral travel (like me) give daydreaming a try! concentrate on what it would look like if you had a meeting spot with your deity. picture what you would wear (if anything), how large or small they are, setting details, lighting, etc. then lose yourself in that world during mediation, chores, walks, right before bed, whenever you can zone out
🌱🔸 if you still can’t, fake it til you make it. improvise with nature sounds, sit in the dark (if you’re okay with that), watch optical illusion gifs, anything that can get your mind creating. take notes on your theories and keep track of what you’ve tried.
🌱🔸 limited supplies? pick from what you’ve got save old jewelry for charms, grab your spare crystals, trinkets you’ve held onto for years, and you can use divination - or my personal favorite “just guess” what they might like. interacting with their item could help form those bonds
most importantly- keep them in your thoughts! you don’t have to do any of these things at all to connect with or find your deity. in fact, I have tried all of these countless times and still not reached some in particular. you might find your own method along the way and that’s all the more special.
remember that whomever they are, they love you already and they know you’re trying
Hi there.
Sorry for my distance, again.
I've been back to the drawing board in many cases with my life and I feel like I have a more solid plan than ever. I don't know how this blog will fit into that equation but I know my Hellenism isn't going anywhere so I'll doubt I'll be far from it.
The Greek gods have always been my home. They give me solidity when I feel shaken. They are not the only gods I've dealt with though. I've briefly worked with the Nurse gods before and I feel like I may need to contact them for this next project if mine.
Part of the reason I stopped working with the Norse is because I grew up a strict monotheist and mixing Pantheons felt like cheating. Allow me to disabuse of such notion if you feel that way yourself. The Gods do not demand exclusivity the way to her religions (primarily Abrahamic) do. The Ancients took on a "When in Rome" mentality when it came do religion and sailors, soldiers, and merchants often came back from foreign lands and brought a God or two back with them and introduced them to others.
I think that's all for now but I just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive. I'm healthy and I hope all of you are too.
give a man a fire and hell be warm for a day. teach a man to fire and youll get your liver pecked out by an eagle every day for the rest of eternity

I started this Tumblr as a way to document my journey through Hellenism and over 100 of you took the enough interest to follow. You are all so sweet. Thank you for listening to my ramblings.
I've kind of taken a break here recently to have a mental breakdown work on some other projects but I do plan on going back to my regular posting schedule. Thank you so much for your patience.
