ok so i quick reblogged this but ive been listening to it for a bit now and decided to delete the og so i can gush about it a bit !!

i really really love how well amy and victorias themes mesh while also feeling *slightly* out of sync in a VERY GOOD WAY

the mood shifting from pleasant (which i interpreted to be representative of their childhood relationship) to feeling warped, intense and just *wrong* is evoking such strong imagery in my head omg...

I absolutely adore when people analyse my work.

so the way I wrote this track was by literally writing both themes at the same time, on the same file, side by side. So what I would do was mute one half of the tracks at a time and listen to it and then listen to the other half to see if they sounded right.

there's all sorts of automation stuff going on here but Victoria and Amy's basslines work together to form a full bassline which can be heard at the start of the song. Amy's is far more unsteady and reedy, its light and uses a lot of string and wind section in order to feel untethered to represent amy's lack of faith in herself while victoria's is strong, bold and repetitive to represent her overconfidence yet repeated mistakes.

Then the bank heist happens and everything gets shaken up, victoria can largely pull herself together but amy struggles, the motifs of heroes and villains echo through that section while bakuda goes off. Victoria is where she shines the most but amy is collapsing under the responsibility.

leviathan hits, everything changes, victoria tries to hold onto what she had before but its thin and empty, an imitation of her previous life. Amy is fully going off the deep end, bonesaw's motif starts playing (quietly at first) while the heartbeat present throughout the song gets louder and louder and the other instruments fade away. Victoria's motif gets more and more distorted until amy's motif takes over and the heartbeat is in full. Everything falls away, its quiet, uneventful because they're both almost in stasis. The birdcage is represented with the dragon motif, while victoria's still hears a bit of amy. Amy's is still uneventful but the pace is picking up, timeskip but victoria has lived all of it, shes been trapped against her own will (ticking clock in tandem with the beat). Scion starts to become obvious, the simurgh scream pierces through and the scion motif is replaced with taylors but played through Tattletale's synth. The difference is negligable. But it ends. and it ends with victoria's motif, amy still obsessed and victoria with a new start.

ok im ngl i was kinda apprehensive abt this song at first bc i came from the guts and glory song and was kinda shocked to hear leviathan portrayed in an energetic electro song but its super grown on me!!

i adore the way that sound effects are used?? like the endbringer sirens?? the thunder striking?? im not good at music terminology but something in there sounds like a choir and it SLAPS

the theme feeling electro works perfectly by emphasising just how alien leviathan really is and how overpowering his presence is, like exceeding expectations on what its like to be near him at all

I had like a bajillion drafts for this one. Initially it was going to be slower with far more emphasis on 'creepiness' but I realised that It didn't really fit him so I wanted to go with a faster paced almost upbeat track because its not the theme for fighting leviathan, its the theme FOR leviathan. I've got the simurgh scream going on near the end while the scion motif plays. I've got the Eidolon motif going on as a countermelody.

As for the thunderclap, I delayed it by a beat to catch the listener off guard and almost jumpscare them in order to recreate that feeling of leviathan being in the distance and then suddenly being within your city
