How Did the Gods Come to Be?

“It is said that the Universe was born of Light and Dark. Two opposing forces that came together in perfect harmony.

But for all they created, they destroyed. They could never truly meet peacefully, for it was in their nature to push against one another.

Some say Light and Dark were beings of their own power- with just as much agency and sentience as you and I. Others claim they were forces of instinctual nature, unable to think or do. Between you and me, I believe they were the predecessors of the gods.

The gods themselves came from this warring.

Mianite was born first from the order of the Universe the two created. He woke to a peaceful emptiness, an expanse of perfectly ordered chaos.

Dianite came next. As Mianite’s order broke down and Light and Dark fell into inevitable conflict, Dianite rose from the chaos. He opened his eyes to war, two sides fighting to dominate the other. He rose and watched as order broke down into chaos.

Ianite was last, or so they say. She arose when order and chaos balanced out. Mianite and Dianite completed each other, and as such they created balance, just as Light and Dark had come together to make the Universe. When she came to be she saw both the careful order of Mianite and the relentless chaos of Dianite and found the silver lining. The thin middle became her home and her domain.

Light and Dark may have long ago left us, but the gods remain. And as long as they remain, we must have faith.”
