Does there happen to be a molecular biologist on Tumblr anywhere who can take a crack at what is going on in the Blood Ocean from Iron Lung? They straight-up give us the mysterious molecular structure of the AT-5's blood, and from what I can tell, it's mostly blood, but there's something else, and I just do not have the know-how to interpret what it means.

I know Mr. Szymanski and Markiplier do not pull their punches. At all. Ever. So I'm really curious to see what's going on here, if it means anything specific, or if it genuinely just looks like artistic nonsense.

The notes say what it does (vaguely), but I wish to connect those additional structures to what they are saying. This is an unreliable narrator scenario, too, so I can't really trust the notes.

The summary question: what the hell are we looking at?

Any help would be appreciated, and if we reach a proper conclusion, I can add the information to our fandom's master reference!

Ironmary!Simon :D

He has scarring resembling teeth across his cheek most of the time, but strenuous situations/emotions cause actual teeth to emerge and his mouth to extend. Also, tree roots grow throughout his torso, emanating from his missing arm. The roots replace his skin at the end of the limb, then begin growing under the skin moving toward his torso before eventually rooting where they are not externally visible.

rocky has been planning this whole speech in his head for years about how he loves adrian so much and always will but he has fundamentally changed during this mission and cannot imagine any version of events where he's not by grace's side for the rest of his short life, that grace is his partner and his best friend and his love and he's changed the way he speaks and sings to better suit grace's ears, has a permanent melody that uses grace's heartbeat as a metronome, and he love love loves his mate and has waited to see them again for so long, but if they want him to give up grace he doesn't think that is something he'd be capable of,

and then when adrian actually meets grace they can't stop purring and they're saying 🎶hero grace. saved stars, saved planets. saved adrian mate. love love love.🎶 they're using a courting frequency.

grace likes their voice. cuddles up to them when they watch him sleep. they talk about science, and culture. sometimes rocky just listens to them talk.

"you're thinking too loud, rock," grace says. adrian has one of their limbs around him and chirps in agreement. "something wrong?"

"The last time any human touched Ryland Grace was an act of horrific violence"

Well... Yes and no.

The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.

But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.

There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.

They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.

Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.

Based off this thing I saw where Simon gets pissy, shouts at Grace and throws something and Grace, being the sensitive guy he is, starts crying and Simon, not used to his words having any sort of power like that, instantly is like I'm the worst person ever. Grace has been nothing but kind and patient with him and here he is making him cry. He apologizes over and over again, sent into a baffling state of desperation and hysteria to try to make up for it.

Grace shows him mercy, sinking down and giving him a hug and a kiss to the forehead to talk him off the edge. He then tells Simon he still needs time to get over it and the hurtful words Simon said, but that Simon doesn't deserve to punish himself so severely, just be more controlled next time. The start of Simon learning hes the only one in control of himself, he can't make excuses here and he won't be punished severely which creates even more pressure for him to grow as person.

Don’t listen to the haters I trust you more with the iron lung lore than the fandom.wiki community 100%. It’s so frustrating to be in a fandom (I’ve been in several; not just IL) where the wiki is an amalgamation of general but inaccurate assumptions and straight up headcanons. Your methodology (from what I see in your posting) is clean and archival and I would kill to see a more professional fan wiki for iron lung.

Thanks. It's very sobering to realize that not everybody is going to like me, or what I do, no matter what. I gave up pleasing everybody a long time ago and truly only write for myself. You guys are just along for the ride.

This is an opinion blog, sometimes, and I have every right to enact that. This does not mean I am on a high horse or think that I am the law. To clarify, I've repeated this numerous times in my ask responses, but I am just another fan like you. I just have ADHD and perfectionism issues.

I cannot believe I've hit a point where I even have haters. What the hell. I'm sort of stunned. This is my first "big" fandom space, admittedly, so all of this is feedback is very overwhelming at times. I came from No Man's Sky (of which I made this Korvax translator for), which is basically dead on Tumblr lately...

I am doing my damn best to live up to a high standard on my own. I'd let other people cooperate on this with me but I am concerned about vandalism to a deep degree. I may see if I can get an editing team put together before initial unveiling. I've had multiple people offer to contribute, but proofreaders are scary, because then they see all my terrible fuck ups! Haha

But they are necessary, y'know?

I am doing my absolute best to keep each page clean and organized. I can give you a sneak peek if you are worried about what the site is going to look like:

Don't mind some of the placeholder text, missing backlinks, etc. I'm still working on it heavily. It's only been three evenings' worth of production!

I'm keeping a public and transparent change log as well, so everyone can see exactly what gets updated and when, once the site is published. You'll also get to see the entirety of my pre-production fuckery:

I don't know if a Weebly site on a free plan counts as professional, but I am doing my best to use the tools available to make it sufficient enough. I hope this doesn't look like total shit for being three days in! Oh, I've been so nervous.
