Explaining my AUs:

Flies in a Web

A year and a half has passed since the vile Kraang attacked New York unprovoked, and the turtles are slowly recovering. All have some physical and mental issues to get through, but they are all otherwise okay, until a shocking meet-up at Todd's treehouse changes everything.

There is another turtle, who has no memory of who he was before the Kraang incident, and he could be a potential secret brother. They also meet a grumpy teenage chameleon, who doesn't seem to like them and has untold secrets that hold a risk for even bigger problems in the future. Suddenly, the brothers are thrown into a new mission: find out who the turtle is.

Unfortunately, that may be a problem, for Raph struggles through visions from an unknown source, Donnie closes off and spends all his time researching for unknown reasons, Leo struggles with physical trauma and his new leader position, and Mikey has taken up to training with Draxum at an exhilarating pace.

As the turtles whirlpool with personal issues and untold mysteries of their new friends, there is something tunneling behind it all. With all that is going on, can the turtles solve the enigma of the mystic beings, or will they finally dig a hole too deep for them to get out of?

Since school likes to kick me in the butt for a good ten months, I will not have a lot of time to be able to do certain things, though I do not mind taking time after work on the weekends to draw something people want. ROTTMNT EYE HEAD-CANONS!!!

(Plus Ocs)

Raph: Hazel

A lot of people fluctuate between brown or green for his eyes, and since hazel is both, I just did that! I also gave him a blind eye and kept the scars from the movie (it’s for the plot in my fic as well)

Leo: Blue

His was pretty simple. Sometimes people go with green, but the blue eyes just fit so well for him. I didn’t add any additional markings because his stupid face bananas are already difficult for me to draw.

Donnie: Yellow

I see the two different eye colors for the twins so much (red and blue) or I see boring ol’ human eye colors. I headcanon Donnie as appearing more turtle-like in behavior and appearance than the rest of them, so why not just give him what his species already has? Also, his markings are covered by his mask because I am not drawing them bro.

Mikey: Brown/Amber

I used to love the idea of blue eyes for baby Mikey, but then I saw how good and soft the brown eyes look, and gave him that instead! I also head-canon that the more mystic you are, more bright your eyes get, so in my story they’ll eventually switch to amber!

Woody: Gray

Woody is not at all related to the turtles, as he was once human. Gray eyes are a very neutral color, and he is kind of a mystery, so a wanted something that wouldn’t give too much away.

Xsis: gray-blue

I gave her my eye color, but the sections are to resemble a real chameleon’s eye to show that they can look two different directions. She’s just cool like that idk.

In the beginning of the show, about episode three of season one, Rayla offers Ezran a blood-red liquid to drink. Callum, thinking its blood, pulls Ezran away and explains that they don’t drink blood. Rayla then says it’s Moonberry juice, and is not happy with the assumptions humans make about elves.

However, Callum said he had heard “horrible, awful stories” about elves before. He had probably heard the story of the Order of the Blood Moon. Since this cult was all Moonshadow elves, and Rayla is one, Callum thought that all Moonshadow elves drank blood (it would also explain why Amaya original called Moonshadow elves “the worst kind”.

Janai’s Decree in Court

Lucia was arrested for putting out a soul candle, a candle which Sunfire elves let burn through the night till sunrise so the spirit of a dead loved one can go back to the sun. At this point, the Sunfire elves are in a camp after Lux Aurea was destroyed. Lucia is the architect for the camp, so her concern for the camp catching fire was understandable, but she did ruin a sacred rite.

Kareem, Janai’s brother and mage advisor, is one who lets the past define the future. He wanted justice in the form of death as the ancestors did long ago. He convinced Janai to call a tribunal of the Six Horns to obtain that justice for the elves.

However, during the trial, Amaya chose to speak for Lucia (with Commander Gren’s translating). Amaya said to the Six Horns that Lucia is not guilty, and that she had every chance to consider the pain she had caused and chose to do harm anyway. However, Amaya also explained how death is not the answer, and that justice can be fair in different ways.

Lucia is found guilty, and Janai chose Lucia’s punishment: building and designing a shrine with guidance from Sunfire priests so that soul candles could burn without threats to the camp. This punishment was fair, as building is exhausting work and building a shrine will constantly remind Lucia of what she did. This will allow her to grow and learn about Sunfire elf culture so she doesn’t make mistakes like this again.

Janai used both the history of her people to understand the ways of the Sunfire elves, but she also listened to her heart and her fiancé, looking towards a future that is safer for her people.

Soren realizing this about his father is so important to his character.

Soren’s whole life revolved around his dad, even when their mom was still around. Viren saved Soren’s life, and Soren responded to that by staying with him. Soren loved and looked up to his dad so much, and I really shows through season one. Even when Viren is obviously questioning Soren’s intelligence and loyalty, Soren always listened to his dad.

Finally realizing how terrible his dad was to him and everyone around him, Soren betrayed him and saved Ezran from jail while gathering up a rebellion. He then went to Xadia and left Viren after finding out Viren was making an army of monsters.

Soren had always shown loyalty and care towards the people he wanted to protect (in season one, when the moonshadow elves were coming, Soren had a hand on Callum’s shoulder before the fight to protect him.) Soren also protected the town after his mistake with the dragon, and let Corvus got knowing he would help get people to safety.

Although his intelligence isn’t the highest and he can be insensitive sometimes, Soren is a kind-hearted man who fights for his friends, who’s loyalty never wavers, and who’s always there to… punch someone, whenever they need.

Definition of a massive himbo who I love very much.

Callum is voiced by Jack De Sena, who is famous for also voicing SOKKA from ATLA. The fact that the writers made a hilarious nod to it is incredible to me!

Queen Aanya: The Crown without an Adult

Don’t mind my chuckle, King Ahling’s reaction was funny.

Queen Aanya was forced to grow up fast, becoming extremely wise and understanding as a queen and maturing greatly even without the influence of her parents, who passed away before she got to know who they were.

In episodes 5 and 6 of season two, she is already proven to be far beyond her years. When the other rulers of the five kingdoms chose to fight alongside Katolis only if everyone was unanimous, Aanya mentions how she cannot decide and says that doing what everyone else does isn’t a decision.

Viren isn’t thrilled about this, so he decides to tell her the story of her parents and how they saved a hundred thousand lives by dying to get the titan’s heart home. Aanya, knowing that these lives were saved and knowing they owe Kaitlin’s a debt, says no. She’s right to. Sending a million men and women to die in unknown circumstances through violence isn’t a balanced deal, and by choosing to keep her people away, she’s saving even more lives from every kingdom then her parents ever did.

(Then Viren decides to be petty and send assassins after the other kingdoms because he’s a big crybaby like grow up buddy.)

THE DRAGON PRINCE ANALYSIS!!!

Here, Viren is speaking to the mirror, saying that he thought it was going to be “something valuable, something important”. This is almost identical to what Harrow says about Viren before he died (kind of).

Harrow states how Viren feels as though he is “above the people of [the] kingdom”, specifically more important than everyone else. Viren denies this, yet uses the privilege he has as the head advisor and mage of the kingdom to steal, threaten death, torture prisoners like Runaan and Gren, and influence Soren and Claudia to do the same.

Later on, in season four or five I believe, Viren goes into his deep sleep after using Dark Magic for the first time in two years after his death. When met with moments of deep weakness, like a dying child Soren, he feels weak and useless. Dark Magic helps Viren feel powerful and important, but at the cost of his own sanity. His past self tells him that he can choose a different path entirely instead of Dark Magic, and so he does.

Idk how much of this is accurate as I am only in season two in my rewatch, but feel free to add anything and make corrections!

Bro watching a show that uses Latin for spellcasting as you TAKE LATIN as a language class is so fun.

As you can see here, Runaan from The Dragon Prince says a spell that takes a message to someone via arrow, but the actual Latin words mean nothing about messages at all. “Regina Draconis” means Dragon Queen, as he is sending a message to the QUEEN of DRAGONS.

I found a ton of other connections throughout the show since I’ve watched it like 6 times now.

Another thing, all the natural elements have spells spoken in Latin while Dark Magic is phrases spoken backwards, because it’s unnatural.

I’ve always liked how these two are very huggy and sweet, but they still show their affection differently. Raph is more gentle per se with people because of his size and spikes, while Mikey just jumps on people and smothers them.
