the theme of spiderman: brand new day being about non romantic love!! the ongoing throughline being that peter needs to not be so alone, that he needs friends. the way jean's story was about her sister. the way frank cried for peter, was soft with him like that, apologised like that because he cared about peter. the way mj's boyfriend doesn't matter at all because what matters is that she's ned's friend. the way the first person who remembered peter was his best friend, his oldest friend because of their special handshake. the way peter being bruce's friend was enough to snap him back from being hulk. the way peter being jean's friend so that she's not so alone is the entire reason we have an ending as happy as we do.
the way these non-romantic relationships are so important to the story.

Guess who got into yet another KR webnovel where the protagonist, surnamed Kim, has to struggle against the horrors of capitalism...
I've been reading Assistant Manager Kim Hates Idols, following the recommendations of a GSGW reader. I read the premise, thought "Oh this would be hilarious, and right up my alley!" and ended up reading up to chapter 125.
Well, I was right. It is hilarious, everything Kim Iwol says has me doubling over due to how #real it is and how comically extreme he is. It's also checking most of my boxes, most of the characters are decently fleshed out, the novel doesn't shy away from conflicts within and outside the group, and of course, Kim Iwol doesn't get away with everything just because of his Main Character Buff. He suffers from consequences from the system when he changes things from their original course in the past, or when he stubbornly refuses to adhere to it.
What I didn't expect, though, was how much it would emotionally devastate me to see him suffer, because it really felt like the system is Kim Iwol's personal hell.
Even from the very beginning, the system's condition for giving him a second shot at life, was for him to "earn it". He still has to work his ass off to "deserve" this second chance, and honestly it felt more like he was being held hostage to work towards it, as his sister's life & assurance that he wouldn't have to go back to his workplace, were on the line if he didn't. What's more, this second shot at life involved him having to work with the people who had indirectly made his own work life hell in the past, due to his boss's daughter's obsession with them.
And even as he tried his best to make this second chance work for him, it was as if the system was just setting him up to fail.
For one, it's the system's personality. While systems with personalities aren't rare in this genre, it surprised me how... Vitriolic Kim Iwol's system is. Kim Iwol literally likened its manner of speech & behavior to his horrible former boss, Manager Nam, whose scoldings have left him with severe, long-lasting trauma. It is always so antagonistic with him. Every achievement just earns him another task/KPI to succeed, and every mistake or failure is nitpicked to death and punished severely. Any initiative from Kim Iwol that deviates from "the big picture" of the system, is punished severely and personally (as depicted in the recent chapters, where Kim Iwol's every insecurity is made into an "attitude controversy" simply for making SpArk do something they didn't do in his first life). It continuously moves the goalposts, purposely withholds information and verbally abuses him every chance it gets.
And what really gets me is how despite all his complaints and internal declarations of how much he hated how unfairly and cruelly the system treated him, a part of Kim Iwol... Still believes that he deserved it. His self loathing is all consuming. He internalized all the abuse hurled at him from his family and manager Nam, and it followed him even into this life.
When bad things happen to him, when he gets mistreated and abused in this life, he tries to take it on while internally saying that he deserves it. Because it was so normal in his previous life, it also became expected in this life.
When he has good people in his corner, rooting for him, when good things happen to him, he runs around trying to "take responsibility", to compensate for "taking up space" and "intruding" on the group, despite his presence being pivotal to the functionality and harmony of their dynamics.
It's just so heartbreaking to see him beat himself down like this when he's already gone through so much and when everything seems to be working against him. He's perhaps one of the few protagonists I would rather walk the flower path instead of one of thorns and hardship...

Currently reading "Assistant manager Kim hates idols" and... guys, wtf 😢. What's with "Kim" characters and the massive impostor syndrome they carry? Kim Rok-Soo (Cale Henituse), Kim Soleum, Kim Iwol, Kim Dokja, Kim Suho (Lloyd Frontera)... just to name some. Are all these Kims from the same family branch? I would not be surprised if they are, honestly.
So, in the new webtoon of GSGW I noticed that when they go to make Soleum's very firsts special equipment there is this security employee guarding the door of the room where the machine is, and I was like "was that mentioned in the novel? I don't remember", so I started to re-read the novel and lo-and-behold, it is mentioned... but that's not the point... now I know stuff...
So, at first I thought "Maybe is J?" But then I remebered that there is an idiot that might probably become a sort of eldritch god and, yeah... am I crazy or could that be Soleum? If it turns out to be fucking Soleum! Like, dude! Aigo, you're driving me nuts! Just sit the fuck down!
i can't wait for the group to know Sunfei's name, i want them all to still call him Suo but when he lies / fucks around (playfully) they look him dead in the eyes and say: "Sunfei, what the hell."
i need them to only use Sunfei when they're done with his antics as a scolding tactic.
with that said, i think it'd be funny if Sakae consistanly calls him Sunfei instead of Suo or Hayato, and it makes Sunfei annoyed.
Danny ends up having his accident at a much younger age where he's still a toddler and instead of falling back out into the lab he falls into the Ghost Zone. So new little baby ghost Danny is hurt, scared, and really, really confused and somehow ends up in the Far Frozen, mainly because the yetis are the only semi decent doctors around and about the only place a ghost CAN go for proper medical care and this kid clearly needs it. They've never seen anything like him! So he ends up adopted by Frostbite and somehow coparented with Pandora.
The problem is that Danny is still a Halfa. That means he has both humans and ghosts needs to meet. Human needs neither Frostbite nor Pandora, no matter how much they love their little Phantom, can provide. The solution? Well, Pandora happened to have a younger cousin by the name of Diana, who's still alive, and if she called upon her, she's relatively certain she'd be willing to help make sure Danny's human needs are met.
Cue Pandora and Frostbite crashing a Justice League meeting to ask Wonder Woman (and Batman once they see he has experience with kids) to help them raise Danny because he's nothing human and ghost and needs parents in both worlds. They thought about using Danny's human parents, but... well... it was their neglect that killed him, and they didn't like their attitude about ghosts. In fact, the incident with Danny and his disappearance and presumed death had gotten Jazz taken away (she's now fostered by Lancer)

Diana would be thrilled at being trusted with such a responsibility. Bruce would be so angry at hearing what happened to Danny. Like, who do I arrest?
And Jazz being raised by Lancer would be so much better for her!
The League would be in the middle of a meeting between Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman when a Lazarus green portal opens up in the middle of the room and out steps a towering woman with blue skin and four arms wearing ancient Greek armor. She's take one look at the assembled cast with her red eyes before she spoke.
"Please, lower your battle stances. I did not come for a fight."
"Why are you here then?" Batman grunts, not relaxing his stance at all as he took in the unknown. Superman cast a glance at Diana, recognizing the armor to be if Amazonian make.
"And why can't I hear your heartbeat?" Superman added in, looking very worried.
"I came here to make a request of my living kin." Pandora explained, carefully blocking the entrance of the portal to sheathed the precious creature Frostbite was holding within the entrance, hidden out of sight of the League, "I am the ancient spirit of Diana's cousin. A Daughter of Hepheastus created on Zues' command many, many years ago in a time of myth."
At this Diana let out a gasp, finally recognizing the being in front of her,
"Lady Pandora!"
"Please, call me Pandora." The ancient being chuckles, "I am not so big on formality, Princess Diana."
"Oh. I could never- you're mere presence is an honor in and of itself. My Lady!"
Batman diverts the attention back to the topic at hand,
"You mentioned a request? What is it?"
"Oh, calm down!" Pamdora scoffed at the suspicious tone in the Bat's voice, "it's nothing bad! I just need some... well, it's a rather awkward situation." Pandora glances at the portal behind her before turning back, "What I am about to tell you can not go beyond this room. The safety of the universe as a whole could be in jeopardy if thw wrong ears learn if this."
The gathered heroes all give nervous glances before nodding their agreement, Batman subtly using a scrambler to ensure no unwanted ears and eyes can see this and only his cowl will retain the recording.
"As a spirit, I reside within the Infinite Realms. Some may call this by a variety of names, Hades, the Underworld, Hell, Valhalla, Heaven, Purgatory, the Spirit Realm, to name a few, some of the younger spirits even call it the Ghost Zone. It is where the spirits of those who have passed yet not moved on reside, as well as where godly spirits of concepts such as Time and Nature reside. Some being are Born there, others die and live their afterlife there, all are connected."
"Why would you tell us this?" Superman asks, perturbed.
"Because it's necessary for you to understand the importance of what I ask." Pandora smiles before turning to Diana, "Princess Diana, my dear cousin, what I ask us something I can not ask another. It is of a personal matter, but one that is so very important."
"What... what is it, My Lady?"
Pandora waves her hand, gesturing for Frostbite to join him. Bruce, Diana, and Clark all tense up a bit at the sight of a yeti stepping out of the portal whik3 carrying something before the bundle in his arms glanced up. A tuff of fluffy white hair framed a pair of wide green eyes that glowed a toxic green and a chubby face with green freckles long his nose, dressed in a warm onsie star constellations patterned over it and a black hood, and holding his thumb in his mouth. Pandora carefully lifted the child, only about 5 years old at most, into her arms for a snuggle before handing Danny back to her co-parent,
"This is Danny, he is a youngling ghost only recently formed. However he formed a little... differently from most other spirits. Frostbite and myself have taken to co-parenting the child when we discovered that he is a very rare breed of spirit. One who is only partially ghost, and partially human."
"We cannot take care of his human needs. Pandora speaks so fondly of yo Princess. We would ask that you be his guardian on this realm. That he can grow healthy and loved."
Diana looked at the child with awe. The she looked at Lady Pandora and nodded firmly.
" I would be honoured to care for my kin. What is his name? "
Danny poked his head up, holding up one small hand with all digits spread.
"M' this many!"
Diana smiled down at him and nodded.
" well done young one. Would you like that? To spend time with me and my colleagues? "
Danny's little head tilted to the side, thinking deeply. He looked at Frostbite and Pandora who both smiled gently.
"Umm. Otay! Mama and Papa say I 's need a nover gar-dee-an. Cause I'm not all ghost. You look strong! And nice!"
Batman was even smiling fondly by this point. The child was cute.
" Lady Pandora, Lord Frostbite, what do we need to take care of him? How often can you visit? Can you stay on this planet safely? "
Frostbite chuckled. The Batman was truly a kind soul. Scarred as it was.
"We can stay here far longer than a normal ghost. Myself and Pandora are old. Even for those of our kind. If it would be acceptable we would trade out time spent here. We are willing to give training to your young as well. But we both have duties in the Realms that may take us away for long stretches of time. That is why he needs another parent."
Diana slowly stretched her arms out to Danny who giggled and leant toward her. Pandora gently gave her the child. Danny instantly snuggled into her arms happy as anything and began to purr . Diana gasped and leant a cheek on his head.
"He purrs?"
Pandora laughed lightly and nodded..
"Oh yes. It is something all of us can do. Ghosts are emotional beings. We literally broadcast our feelings to all within range. Putting is a sign of comfort and contentment. Or of offering comfort. A good sign."
They all converse for a while about Danny's needs and requirements. Batman finds a bit of a kindred soul in Frosbite, both being very intelligent beings who have an interest in scientific fields. Frostbite being in the medical field while Batman is interested in forensics and chemistry. The two end up trading quite a lot of information. Pandora, outside if the formalities, is an absolute riot.
After awhile, Pandora and Frostbite had to leave. Frostbite had brought along a duffel with Danny's favorite toys and Pandora had difficulty leaving her 'little warrior' with a promise to keep in touch and visit whenever they could. Now was the difficulty part. Trying to figure out how to explain to the other members coming into the meeting later where Diane got the kid.
Diana would just straight up tell the truth, in the least revealing way possible.
"A member of my family asked me to care for him as they could not."
Everyone thinks he is Amazonian and because they don't let men live on Thermyscria... They asked Diana to take him in instead of like, dropping him at an orphanage. Bruce and Clark obviously go along with it. It's basically true, in a round about fashion.
Most of them see the baby and sadly the meeting has to be postponed. Baby too cute. All of the heroes who have/had kids that young at one point are just around Diana giving her advice that ranks from utterly useless to somewhat useful. And Danny is getting ALL the cuddles.
Also, he's baby. They know it isn't malicious. It is frustrating, but smol bean gonna do what smol bean gonna do. Batman watches and is just, so GLAD none of his were meta's. He can only imagine what Dick would have done with those powers.
Diana is thrilled. Her baby cousin is already so powerful! He will become a strong protector one day! How wonderful!
Superman is watching and just has to wonder if he was that difficult? Calls his parents like, so Wonder Woman has a child now. Adopted like I was. Um, he has powers sort of like mine, some different, but, how difficult was I at times? Uh-huh, so this is to be expected them? Can I give your number to WW. She might like some advice?
Meanwhile Jazz is sad she can't see her brother anymore. But Mr Lancer is REALLY nice. And he talks to her and spends time with her lots! And he listens properly! He remembers what she likes! He got her books on stuff she wanted to know. And even when he's busy he remembers to feed her properly! And still tucks her in! Even though she doesn't need it cause she's big now. And he's just so nice!
Now, Jazz... she's a smart cookie. She knows that the reason she can't see her baby brother anymore is because her Mommy and Daddy didn't pay enough attention to them, and their machine hurt him really, really bad. Bad enough that he's gone forever. But she also knows Mommy and Daddy study ghosts, which means ghosts are real, which means her baby brother might have turned into a ghost! This is what inspires Jazz's ghost interest because if she knows about ghost, she can find them, and if she finds ghosts, she might be able to find Danny! She doesn't wanna be a ghost hunter like Mommy and Daddy were though, being a ghost hunter is what took Danny away. Instead she still wants to be a psychologist but with an interest on ghosts so she can one day find her baby brother Danny.
Lancer isn't sure what to do about Jazz's newfound interest in ghosts and correctly assumes it's a coping mechanism. What he doesn't realize is how deep it will end up being.
Oh WW may not realize it but she is going to NEED that advice, Danny is a tiny feral gremlin and it's all hands on deck to take care of him. Whole Diana is his primary caretaker, Bruce and Clark do a lot of babysitting for her, as does Martian Manhunter since Danny became instantly attached to J'onn the moment he saw him (that space obsession yo) and he's about the only one who can find Sanny when he goes invisible or intangible
It's going to take Jazz years to learn all she needs to be able to find her brother. She reads up on magic, science, psychology. Anything she can get her hands one to try and find him. And sure, at one point she starts to doubt. But it's her baby brother. She can't let it go. Now Clockwork could stop this. But honestly he approves. What she will end up doing will be phenomenal. And he wants to watch as she grows. She ends up with a ghost patron she doesn't know about yet.
Diana will need them. All children are mischief given form. One with invisibility and intangibility? There are NO limits to what he can get into and out of. It is a bit of a nightmare. A true challenge. Danny Loves his new family! He misses his Jazzy. But he knows she is ok! Mama Pan and Papa Frosty said so! His new Uncle J'onn is SO cool! Diana has to keep detaching a clingy child from her co worker. Clark is a tiny bit jealous. He is ALSO an alien you know?
Danny doesn't care, Uncle Clark isn't as cool as Uncle J'onn. Diana has to try so hard to not laugh at poor Clark. Bruce has no such reservation and teases him endlessly. Bruce is also Not as COOL as Uncle J'onn. But he makes up for it by giving Danny lots of new cousins to play with! And Uncle Flash has a big family too!
Ya know... with all those science-y people, one of them is bound to help him realize he can go faster if he runs while intangible (this turns out to be a mistake not fully understood until Danny used this trick while hyper)
At what point does everyone discover Danny can shift back to human (black hair and blue eyes)? I vote he does so while playing with the BatClan and everyone thinks it's shapeshifting at first. It's only later, after some fun decoding of toddler talk, that they finally realize that Danny has both a human form and a ghost form.
It would also be cute if he did it when Diana held him. Just stared at her and nods. Then there is a bright light and suddenly he looks like he could be her son.
The idea of him doing it on meeting the batclan is hilarious. Especially if it takes them a while to figure it out. The Flash family would try to get him to match them and be so sad he didnt. So many grumbles about him already having favourites
With the reveal of a human form - does he get enrolled in school? Do they wait until he's old enough to control not only his powers but his impulses to use them?
They would wait a little bit. Just because he is so young, and they have noticed he doesn't always notice he is using his powers. This is a bitty baby ghost. And ghosts live off emotions. Until he is older it would NOT be safe to put him around other kids. No matter how sweet he is. If he tried to protect another kid from being bullied can you imagine the accidental harm he could cause? No they would err on the side of caution there. But in the meantime he would have SO many lessons! And by the time he got to school would probably be significantly advanced purely by accident. Which would lead to an absolute sulk of epic proportions.
Danny: Mama Di! School is boring! Why did no one tell me it would be boring! It's too easy!!!!! And the teacher told me off for not paying attention! But I already knew what they were teaching!!!!
Diana: Well, did you at least have fun with the other children?
Danny: They were weird. I don't know. Maybe tomorrow?
I'd love to see if somehow Ellie/Dani gets created, and raised as Danny's twin, but I'm not sure how that would happen. Luthor figures it out? Maybe Vlad hears about Danny in the Ghost Zone? And where does Danny fall in the timeline? Is he closer in age to Dick, Jason, Time, Damian? Somewhere else? Could Ellie and Conner be found at the same time by Young Justice?
I just love Ellie.
Also, we've got Jazz who probably maintains her perfect record through high school, maybe makes a friend because she's not being raised by the "weird" parents (although, she is being raised by a teacher...) Does Jazz know Sam (who would absolutely love the occult), does she know Val? How do Sam, Tuck, and Val all fit into this version? Just random kids at school? Tucker might've known Danny. Do people beyond Mr. Lancer know about Jazz's interest in ghosts?
Are the Fenton's still in Amity? Do they try to get into Jazz's life?
Also, is the Ghost Portal open and are there ghost attacks? If so, how are they being dealt with?
Does Danny ever try to go back and look for Jazz, or was he so young that he barely remembers her?
Do canon!Danny's rogues know little baby Danny?
Wait, where exactly is Danny being raised? Does Diana live in Paris? Or is she in America?
Also, maybe Danny's multilingual, as he's been raised around heroes who know several languages, and maybe his ghost biology makes it easy for him to learn new languages.
I had a sad/cute idea for how Ellie could be made. Now Danny knows he can't see his Jazzy right now. But he misses her so so much. And he saw Mama Pan making doubles to train with! So, he thought, maybe he could try? And then he would have a double to play with like he played with Jazz.
But ghost powers work on emotions as much as logic. And a lot of his desire was missing his sister. So he accidentally manages to make a new baby ghost just like him, but a girl. Cause he was missing his sister. It leaves both of the children very tired for a few weeks. And in the meantime the adults have to figure out if this will be long term. Will the new child survive? What exactly did he do?
Frostbite works as fast as he can, and finally figures out that the new child (his new daughter) will not fade. And while she shares Danny's early memories she is not entirely her own person. So the League are all informed of what he managed. And they have to sit him down and tell him he is not allowed to play with that power again. It is very good the have Ellie now. But making babies is supposed to be an adult job. So he has to wait till he grows up to be allowed.
Danny didn't expect this at all. But he has a new sister! And that's so so cool! And she misses Jazzy too. So they can whisper about her to each other and share it. And he didn't mean to make her. And he won't do it again. But he loves Ellie lots. So he's not mad about it.
After the incident the Ancients decided to explode the portal. With how they were with their own children they were not trusting those two maniacs with access to the Realms.
And as far as their home dimension is concerned their negligence caused the death of their child. Even pleasing guilty would see them in prison for at least a few years. Jazz won't have to worry about them for quite a while.
Jazz would be aware of how people saw her parents and would not share her interest in certain aspects of he study outside of the people she trusts most. She's not ashamed of what she studies. But being bullied would make school hard. And she doesn't have time for that! She has stuff to learn! She might meet the other kids, but at that age most stuck within their year group. But she may very well tutor them. Sam's interest in the occult could lead to them being friendly. And Tucker was friends with Danny from a very young age. So they would probably be at least in contact. Even if not close.
With Danny being adopted by two ancients everyone knows about baby Danny. It's highly unlikely they would get to interact much. Pandora and Frostbite would not let bad influences near just yet. He has time for teen rebellion later. He's still far too small for such nonsense.
Danny would keep Jazz in mind. Maybe when he is older he will try. But a certain meddling Clock would stymie his attempts. He wants to see how far Jazz can go. No shortcuts. Not even for the youngling.
Danny is almost certainly multilingual. The League would want him to know as much as possible. As would Pandora and Frostbite. Pandora and Diana would likely teach him Greek. Frostbite possibly latin. Children take to language incredibly well. And with some of the languages being alien? Danny would be thrilled!
Jazz confides in Tucker, one day, when they're being sad about Danny together, that she thinks her brother might have become a ghost, and that she intends to find him. Once she's sure he can keep a secret.
And Tucker? Tucker is ride or die. The adults think he's hanging out with Jazz to process shared grief, and that's part of it, but... he's studying ectoplasm with her in secret. Because he WILL find his friend. Even if it's only briefly, even if it's only to say goodbye in person.
Technomage Tucker and Jazz? Oh hell yeah! When they are finally skilled enough? They are most likely going to be a bit over confident. They are probably going to end up in the wrong dimension a few times. So that should be fun and full of adventure. Lots of stories to share when they find Danny!
Damian stands in silence as he looks at the crestfallen figure of Danny, who is still sitting on the chair where he has been sitting for over an hour now. The blood son of Batman has no idea how to start, it’s like his lips have been glued shut with grizzly glue at the same time that every single word has erased itself from his brain. Damian Al-Ghul Wayne feels both powerless and oh so sssstupid.
“I guess this is it then.” Danny is the one who breaks the too long silence. Humorless smile on his pale lips.
“What do you mean?” Words come back to Damian’s mouth and find their way out of his lips.
“Now you know the kind of monster I am.” Danny says, and Damian moves faster than any speedster in the infrastructure.
Danny’s eyes open wide while his he-hopes-still-boyfriend hugs him tight.
“Do not dare call yourself that ever again!” Damian growls.
And Danny cannot hold it anymore, he returns Damians tight hug, both staying like that for many more minutes. Danny crying inconsolably as Damian caresses his hair and whispers sweet nothings to his beloved’s ear.

Batman enters the room where the rest of the interrogation witnesses are waiting while sitting around the round meeting table. He takes seat right between Wonder Woman and Superman.
“So, that was something.” Nightwing breaks the tense silence.
“So young and yet has already burdened so much. The weight of a crown is too heavy for a child to carry and yet he carries his like Atlas to the skies.” Aquaman follows, his tone carries the sorrow he feels for the young boy that is the King of the Infinite.
“I cannot believe he actually told us about his death.” Constantine adds. “That’s the most intimate thing for a ghost, something only shared among those they consider fraid, their family, to share that with us… I don’t think you people understand the importance of him telling us about it.”
“I knew he had barely manifested when he fought the tyrant for the first time, but he to think that he’s literally just a kid!” Deadman exclaims.
“A kid just trying to mend the mistakes of his parents.” Zatanna says, her tone solemn.
“What now?” Flash questions. “I mean, based on what he said and on what we know so far the kid just wants to live.” He continues and everybody in the room can hear how his voice slightly breaks at the end.
“What do you think?” Superman, no Clark asks his best friend, for he understands how close this case is to B’s family.
“Since it seems that it was Gotham herself who offered to be the king's sanctuary, it will be Gotham who will keep sheltering him.” The big bad bat states. “When we leave, he comes with us.” He adds as he looks at his eldest son.
“Yeh, about that, I don’t think they’re gonna finish talking any soon.” Nightwing says with an awkward smile.

Back in the interrogation room, Damian is sitting on a corner with Danny sitting on his lap, his head resting over one of Damian’s shoulders, his pretty eyes puffy and still shiny. Damian has taken off the domino mask from his face, he is looking at Danny’s face and caressing his cheek with his thumb.
“Do you feel better, qalbi?” Damian asks with gentleness.
“Yeah… sorry smearing snot on your cape.” Danny answers, voice hoarse.
“It is quite alright. It is always gets dirtied by some more disgusting substances anyways.”
“I bet.” Danny huffs a chuckle and Damian’s anxiety lessens at the sound.
“Daniel.” Damian calls and sweetly makes Danny look at his, their faces so close that their noses almost touch. “I am not angry at you, nor disgusted nor disappointed, nor any of those silly things your mind might be whispering to your heart. I was surprised, confused and scared. I am sorry if I made you feel like I would turn my back on you, I just needed to calm down and organize my thoughts.”
“You mean it?”
Damian just nods his head. Danny’s bottom lip wobbles but he doesn’t cry again, instead, he surrounds Damian neck with his arms and gives him a tight hug that the other teen gladly returns.
“I am so sorry you had to go through that hell, my love.”
Danny breaks the hug and with the palm of his left hand he touches Damian’s cheeks, the slightly taller teen then rests his head to said palm as Danny says, “At least I wasn’t raised in an evil cult?”
“Just how much of my life is written in that manual of yours?” Damian questions as he remembers that Danny mentioned the ‘Gotham Manual’ that the city’s spirit had given him before moving to Gotham.
“Not much, really. It’s more like a wiki-page with your most basic info. Nothing too revealing.”
“Is that why you choose my table that first day of school?”
“Nope. Up to that day I had barely read the intro of the book.” Danny reveals without an ounce of shame. “In reality, it wasn’t until that day that I started to properly read it because I wanted to know about the new friend I had made, then I found out about you and your family’s extracurricular activities, and I stopped reading it again because it didn’t feel right to know about that without your permission.”
“You are a good actor.” Damian acknowledges.
“Thanks. It took me to almost die a second time to learn.” Danny jokes and Damian makes a face, which only makes Danny’s smile stretch.
“Is there a way for me to stop the incoming jokes and puns about dead that will plague my future with you?”
“And let Jason be the only one with a tombstone in this graveyard? Never.”
Damian throws his head back, taking it away from Danny’s cold hand and letting it rest on the wall.
“But, talking seriously Dames, you don’t feel scared of me, of what I am?”
Damian looks at his – thank the heaves – still boyfriend. “Daniel, my father is Bruce Wayne, I have no proofs but also no doubts that he has had intercourse with Superman at least once, also, most of my siblings have had intimacy with non-human individuals. Believe me roohi, I am not bothered by the nature of your biology nor power.”
Neither Damian nor Danny knows this, but after Damian said that every bat and bird did a big sneeze (Clockwork knows though, and he did a sensible chuckle while watching his screens).
“O-k, I so much didn’t need to know that about your family, babe.”
“It is but a matter of a fact.”
“Still… wait! Does that mean that you’re still willing to, you know, do the deal with me?” Danny questions as a beautiful rouge blush spreads across his freckled face and neck.
“As long as you are also willing to take me.” Damian purrs, the tips of his lips suddenly gently touch the tip pf Danny’s own.
The answer is Danny closing the very short distance between them.
It was just a peck, a long one mind you, but when they broke apart their foreheads touched and their eyes locked… and Damian saw how Danny’s eyes filled with tears again.
Danny chuckles a sniff and Damian kisses the tears away. They stay like that for a while… until Danny’s stomach betrays him.
“Aww, come one.”
“Come, love. The cafeteria here has some descent food.”
“Gasp! Can we eat in a room where we can look at the outer space?!”
