Currently watching “Hogan’s Heroes” because it’s Memorial Day, and when you can’t go to gravesites and bbqs, you watch old war movies/tv shows. 🎥 🇺🇸
I have never seen “Hogan’s Heroes” before, but I have heard the name a couple times and it seemed like the kind of thing my Dad (who I also remember today) would like. 🪖
This is the most looney tunes shit I have ever seen in a live action anything. This is glorious. This is fantastic. Why have I never seen this before? 😂
Episode one involves an underground system of tunnels with steam room to work off the extra pudge so the guards don’t realize they are getting extra food in. Also a manicurist. Because no one expects an escaped prisoner to have pretty nails. 💅
What is this bugs bunny nonsense? 🐰
Beautiful.
Fandom Problem #14,937:
"TOXIC MASCULINITY IS EVERYWHERE! WHY ARE MEN AFRAID TO BE SOFT AND KIND?!"
(Soft and kind gentleman character appears in media)
"HE MUST BE TRANS OR GAY! CISHET MEN DON'T ACT THAT WAY!"
Y'all are enforcing toxic masculinity. You are telling cis men that only toxic assholes are masculine, and insisting that gender neutral traits such as being gentle and kind are feminine traits.
You created this problem.
Baths are indeed amazing.

Look, I'm sorry. But I'll be mad forever that Zutara wasn't canon in the cartoon. It's dumb. I'll be having a perfectly lovely day and all of the sudden I'll think about the wasted potential and just go "Augh!"
Honestly same. It's so obvious in the show that Zutara had been planned from the get go. Especially with the fact almost everyone on the set of A:TLA supported Zutara but two men who wanted their delusional self-insert ship.
Right? All the narrative beats were leading up to Zutara. I mean, Kataang isn't totally unfounded. Katara and Aang developed a friendship and Katara occasionally found Aang adorable (if her blushes are to be believed). But it really felt like the only reason they ended up together is because Aang is the titular character, the avatar, and ostensibly the main hero. He got the girl because he 'deserved' it. And it turned Katara into a prize to be won.
There was so much more to Katara than that and Kataang (to me) devalued her character.
Zutara is the culmination of both characters' growth. Their story arcs were their own, but they intertwined beautifully, complementing and contrasting each other.
Katara was kind and caring, but she also held intense amounts of rage. Her powers could heal, but also cause terrible destruction. And by learning about herself and the world around her, she found that not everything is black and white, including the people of The Fire Nation and, in particular, Zuko. If a romance had to occur (and I suppose it did), Zutara would have acknowledged her growth. She would not have been a prize for the hero to win, but a nuanced character who had put aside her prejudices and learned to love and respect a man who also went through his own tremendous growth.
TL:DR Kataang felt unearned. Zutara made sense.
So. Many. Parallels.
Arg! Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg!
Look, if they were real people then Katara and Aang ending up together would've been fine. Truth is stranger than fiction.
But this IS fiction. And you don't drop all this symbolism and parallels and themes without a freakin' payoff! And there is SOOOOOOOOO much from a literary/cinematic perspective that points to Zutara. Even the voice actors figured they were getting together. I mean, what the actual heck!
I binge Zutara posts every couple of months. Because I love Zutara. But it makes me so angry that it's not canon! So I binge and then I need like two months to recover.
Time to binge again.
So we have Band of Brothers which follows paratroopers, The Pacific which follows Marines, Masters of the Air following bomber crews/fighter pilots. Now we need:
Which Spielberg WWII series do we need now?
The cavalry (tanks) in North Africa
The Medical Corps
Submariners in the Atlantic
The Navy in the Pacific
So it seems we need a show set in North Africa. What are we calling it?
Bank of Sapphire Cold?
An Ikea of Ruby and Cold
A Chocolatier of Pearl and Fog
A Pilates Studio of Aquamarine and Sunshine.
“A Gas Station of Peridot and Sunshine” would actually be a pretty good title for slightly-purple short story about childhood roadtrip nostalgia.
A Home of Sapphire and Snow
Ngl, that title slaps
A School of Turquoise and Clouds

Fandom Problem #14,660:
Let's be clear: Yes, old Disney films had racism in them.
No, Walt Disney wasn't "the most racist man in Hollywood" as I've seen some people claim. The racism in Disney films were actually considered MILD for the time period. Those crows in Dumbo were considered positive representation at the time, because the bar was so low. Look up cartoons like, "Coal Black and the Sebben Dwarves" if you want an idea of what was considered the norm in animation.
It actually drives me NUTS how many companies were built on far worse racial depictions, yet don't get nearly as much flack as Disney gets.

I love that, like. He KNOWS the audience want to clap and so he's using them as an extra instrument. He turns around and goes hey, stop, and hopes they understand conductor gestures and it works, and then he has clapping he can use when he wants
