Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.
Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
asked one of my coworkers how she's doing today and she goes "could be better, could be worse," and another coworker nearby who was eavesdropping chimes in with "could be a lil bit o' alligator curse!" i have no idea what he meant by that but i do know that it has been immediately added to the lexicon.
As someone who was alive when Bob Ross (and William Alexander before him â thatâs where the approach is from) was on PBS, I can 100% testify that you can paint along with him.
You may need to learn how to set up your paints and such⌠but this is what people did, live, while the show aired. Thatâs what the show was for. I had family members create lovely works of art they enjoyed, which I still have on my walls, because William Alexander and Bob Ross both said:
SCREW METICULOUS CLASSICAL ART PRACTICES â JUST GRAB A PALETTE KNIFE AND BIG OLD BRUSH AND PAINT!
They freed a whole generation of people who were taught to paint detail and realism and exact representation of reality â people who largely gave up this kind of thing because it got tedious.
I watched the joy of family members as they rediscovered art as a messy fun spontaneous half hour activity.
Give it a try.
i genuinely feel like im being edged
For this game of dodgeball, I will be specifically targeting the gayest and most autistic among you to eliminate.Â
Okay so normal rules then
A long time ago, in the Age of Physical, software would be stored on beautiful mirrored discs, and inside each disc a tiny wizard lived who would install the software for you.
the idea that every summer will be as hot if not hotter than this for the rest of my life is unbearable i need to (remembers suicide jokes are bad for my mental health) murder an oil executive
since there is such an "english speakers who don't even try to pronounce a foreign mame correctly" epidemic, native english speakers often try to overcorrect and end up thinking they have a moral imperative to pronounce every foreign name correctly at all times. so i'm gonna hold your hand and look into your eyss as i say this: you can't. you can't pronounce every sound in a language you don't speak. and that's fine. it happens to the rest of us too. we won't be mad so long as you try your best.
âI did some research to pronounce this name correctlyâ = đ great! even if the pronunciation was still off (and learning to pronounce a foreign language correctly takes a lot of practice) people generally appreciate it when someone goes the extra mile for accuracy, and honestly, languages are cool
âIâm probably not saying that correctlyâ/âsorry for my pronunciationâ = đ understandable! foreign languages often have sounds that arenât used in English and learning to correctly pronounce unfamiliar phonemes is genuinely difficult even with help
âlol Iâm not even gonna TRY to pronounce that đâ = đ THIS is the problem, if treats languages other than English like they are inherently âweirdâ or âoverly complicatedâ just because you arenât familiar with them
âOne thousand apologies for my butchering of this beautiful effervescent tongue, I will now flagellate myself as punishment for my crimesâ = đ chill

he wasnât even there to be a contestant he joined the crew as a CHINESE TEACHER but the directors noticed his good looks and begged him to compete. poor guy made it to the finals and if he had been one of the winners he would have been contractually forced to be in a boy band whether he wanted to or not
this is the closest any human being has ever come to actually being sold to One Direction
im gonna cry this person is so sweet to their fish
Albino raccoon
Quick, spot the main character!
itâs so weird how much of a raccoonâs⌠raccoonness? is tied up in its pattern. This looks like a completely different animal, some sort of weird marsupial.
@elodieunderglass for your collection
Thank you so much! The comment from @ayellowbirds is genuinely part of the reason I adore and collect colour morphs. Without pattern and colour, youâre faced with the surprise of the animal, like experiencing it for the first time.
(Our brains are so good at categorising experiences, that normally, as soon as we experience something, itâs absorbed, and no longer surprising; how delightful to find that we can be surprised by animals again!)
But it also helps you to pick out whatâs REALLY inherent to the animal, what pieces of gesture and motion (obscured by colour, pattern or our own familiarity) are actually integral to the understanding of the true BeastâŚ.
The albino reminds us to draw raccoons far-footed, and as if they are wearing puffy fur coats that taper comically down each limb.
i think i'd be checking my phone in the cuck chair to be honest
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because theyâre hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.
