Look, I'm glad to see more Asian representation in media, but this hype over the Wasians (mixed white-Asians) is making this Asian borderline uncomfortable 😬

Secondly, media and the public almost always put on a pedestal a very specific type of mixed Wasians, those of East Asian descent. I don't see as much hype for the Wasians of South Asian, Southeast Asian or West Asian descent. And of course, we all know why 🤡

Like I thought we had this discourse back in the early 2010s criticising how Asian representation in YA fiction tended to be Wasians?

Did you know you can speak Hungarian with only using the vowel "e"?

There's even a fun language game, it's called eszperente, the goal is to turn a phrase into only having e vowels but still meaning the same thing. Let me quote an old example for you! The original is a popular children's song, it goes "Boci, boci tarka, se füle se farka". (calf, calf colourful, has neither ears nor tail) The eszperente version goes "Tehenek gyermeke, tehenek gyermeke, fekete pettyekkel tele, se szerve mellyel zengzeteket felvegyen, se szerve mellyel legyeket elhesegessen" (child of cows, child of cows, filled with black spots, neither has an organ to pick up majestic tunes, nor an organ to chase flies away)

Which is obviously very circumvent (that's the fun), but you can easily have sentences that have almost only e's. A phrase from my grandmother (used to illustrate the Szögedi dialect but still) is "egyél kenyeret meggyel; ha nem kell, tedd el, majd megeszed reggel" (eat bread and sour cherries; if you don't want it, put it away, you'll eat it in the morning) The first bit of it is a bit forced (who even eats bread and sour cherries together), but the rest of it your mother could be telling you over the dinner table

So you know. Don't even have to make up a language!

It's disappearing like every Hungarian dialect these days, but as it's supposed to be, it replaces a lot of e sounds with ö sounds. So the above phrase in the dialect would be "ögyél könyeret möggyel; ha nöm kell, tödd el, majd mögöszöd röggel". "Szöged" is called Szeged in other dialects (it's a city)
