here's your reminder that like trans people, many cis intersex people have to fight to be recognized as the gender they are. cis intersex people, too, have to fight to have their sexuality accepted in relation to this. cis intersex people are oppressed, and they are very often not protected under the same institutions that protect cis dyads. in fact, those institutions can outright attack them.
intersex rights are not just about our bodies. we would not be persecuted for our bodies in the manner we are if it weren't for the system of gender we have and how oppressive it is to anyone who doesnt conform to its rigid notion of male and female. include us in your fucking activism. even when we're cis.
"You shouldn't identify as [blank] because it might confuse the cis/straights"
Honey with as much kindness as can be conveyed through text, that kinda sounds like the fault of the cis/straight people.
The world is filled with complex people and experiences and we don't actually help anyone by saying it isn't. Its the job of the oppressors to clear up their misunderstandings. Not the job of the marginalized to somehow become... not... themselves.
“why does every piece of queer media have to be revolutionary” ok. why does every piece of queer media have to be a YA slice of life highschool romance au with a trans side character and two cis white mlm leads . you wanna know why every piece of queer media has to be “”revolutionary””?? because being queer is revolutionary .
“i think stories should have lesbians, trans peoples, and people of color as their leads, who struggle with real queer topics like addiction, pregnancy scares, stds, in a way that’s not entirely palpable to cishets” “UM???? WHY DOES EVERY QUEER STORY HAVE TO BE REVOLUTIONARY???????”
“sometimes i just want to watch a gay romcom” ok but these aren’t gay romcoms. these are straight romcoms, with the names and pronouns changed and with a generic coming out subplot thrown in. but keep talking about how you’re better than cishets , i guess 🤷♂️
Happy Pride Month 2022!!!
Faust the Crow loves you even more than she did last year!
If you care about our gay male community please read.
You probably have seen this flag around if you're active in online queer spaces.
I've seen many people, especially gen z on Tik Tok/Instagram call it a "furry pride flag" or even worse, a "beastiality/zoophilia flag"
Please, STOP.
This is the BEAR BROTHERHOOD FLAG.
This flag was created in 1992. It's older than me, and older than most of you on this app. It represents bears, an identity that belongs to gay men and their community, just like butch and femme belong to lesbians. However gay men identifiers usually describe a body type more than a way of presenting.
Bear describes a gay male who is usually chubby with a strong build and very hairy.
It has nothing to do with being attracted to animals.
Those are the two otter flags.
Otter is also a gay male term that describes a body type.
It has also nothing to do with being attracted to animals.
Please learn your history.
This post is important, but if I may add onto the learn your history part, butch and femme aren't exclusively lesbian terms. They are most often used by lesbians, yes, and bi women, but if you ask some older gay men about their identity they might bring up being butch or femme, and that's literally okay!
So like, I guess, don't go after old gay guys who only date "femmes" or dress "butch".
This goes for bear and otter and twink too! While these terms are associated with people who want/prefer a same gender relationship, they were always inclusive of bi+ people.
Two-spirit sapphics are pretty cool people.
i feel like people don't realize that there's no such thing as having "too many labels" because we all actually have roughly the same amount of labels. if you're not autistic, you're allistic. if you're not neurodivergent, you're neurotypical. if you're not queer, you're cishet. if you're not asexual, you're allosexual. if you're not aromantic, you're alloromantic. if you're not trans, you're cis. if you're not intersex, you're perisex. if you're not disabled, you're abled. an autistic, adhd biromantic asexual polyamorous non-binary person has the same amount of labels as an allistic, neurotypical hetero allo monogamous cis person. so if you ever think that you have too many labels, just remember, everyone else has about the same amount as you, so don’t feel bad about picking up a few more for yourself.
They think we have too much labels because they have the privilege to not have to specify theirs.
hot take uh
dont get mad at trans ppl for using the “wrong”/out of date terminology to describe their own experiences like
if a trans dude says “back when i was a girl” or “i was born in the wrong body” just. let them. if they feel it describes their experiences the best, then it’s good for them
as long as theyre not using it to describe other people who may not be comfortable with, it’s ok
there are people who will love you exactly the way you are.
There is nothing wrong with using more uncommon labels for your gender or sexuality. I am proud of you for finding labels you connect with.

Friendly reminder to all wlw: u don’t have to be butch OR femme. You can be both, neither, 55% butch and 45%, whatever, but you don’t have to be one or the other if you don’t want to. Those aren’t the only options of expression for wlw

Lgbtq+ culture is knowing the community still has a long way to go in gaining equal rights but being glad we've gotten this far already
yes, so true. the community has... some flaws, but that’s okay, bc nothing’s perfect! we’ve done a ton already tho, and that’s amazing, but we’ve still got more to do in order to get equal rights.
