FDA is mad they announced that because the exact cause has still not been found. daily harvest products have given people liver damage so bad they needed to have their gallbladders removed. while the current FDA investigation only involves the leek + lentil crumbles, there are many reports of other daily harvest foods like the flatbreads also harming people. if you have been affected by daily harvest's bullshit, there is now a subreddit for it.

Throwback to one of our very first comics, from about ten years ago.

Look. There's a creek near where I live that has its own volunteer non-profit organization.

It's just one creek. One trickle of water among millions. But people decided to care about that creek. A bunch of people, volunteers, got together and they cleaned several tons of trash out of the creek.

They got to work removing non-native plants from the creek banks and planting native trees.

They got a nearby water treatment plant to upgrade and stop polluting the creek.

They educate people and tell them about the fish and invertebrates that live in creeks and why they should care.

I think that it matters. I think that making sure your community has clean water matters. I think making sure one specific old lady's house doesn't flood matters. I think one stream where fish can live again matters. I think one patch of green space in a downtown area matters. If nothing else, it makes people's lives less shitty, and that's worthwhile in itself.

Stop asking "how do I save the world?" Start asking "can I get together several people to clean up that creek downtown?"

btw… important PSA: cutting off the mold on the surface of food does nothing. you can only see the spores on the surface, but mold itself has spread and grown roots into the food. by the time you can actually *see* the spores, that piece of food is completely full of it. youre still eating mold.

many of which are poisonous and have been shown to cause cancer. youre not even supposed to sniff it, because that can get spores into your lungs. like if you look up the health and safety guidelines for mold they barely stop short of telling you to put on a hazmat suit.

like produce is okay as long as you cut around it at least an inch, but cooked foods? you gonna die. stop eating mold people
