"some reason" :^)
Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima If you can GUARANTEE that nothing even APPROACHING those could EVER happen under ANY circumstances Then I will fold to Nuclear Power
Three Mile Island
NO ONE DIED
Fukushima
NO ONE DIED
Chernobyl
essentially a human-made accident through gross mismanagement and neglect, that physically can't happen with other reactor types (in part because they all have containment buildings now). so yes we can guarantee that nothing even approaching chernobyl will ever happen with modern reactors.
even so chernobyl still killed fewer people than the German Atomausstieg has through increased air pollution because of additional coal being burnt
welcome to team uranium!
Love people using 3 mile island as an example. 3 mile island is an example of where things WORKED, that the failsafes kicked in so only a miniscule amount of radiation was released, which not only didnt kill anyone, but no one was injured, no adverse health effects were caused, and there was no damage to the surrounding environment. Despite the incident, the other reactor continued to run until 2019!
And again: the point isn't "do you prefer renewables or nuclear". The point is "everyone fighting againsy nuclear power has further entrenched coal and oil power and caused a LOT more damage to the environment"
'what would Anne Frank write if she was in Gaza now?'
LEAVE HER ALONE I BEG OF YOU
She was young girl living in the Netherlands writing about her experience hiding from the Nazis during the holocaust, being sent to the concentration camps and later dying of typhus.
the poor girl is dead, let her rest in peace. don't bring her into this conflict, we don't know what she would feel but we know her sister was a proud zionist and so was her father, upon his liberation from the camps.
Anne Frank is dead, let her and her soul rest in peace I BEG of you. Don't bring her into this, let her REST
.
@slyandthefamilybook. Well said.
Also she wouldn't be in Gaza since Jews aren't allowed there
Bro be acting like the International Court of justice didnt rule that Iserael is committing a genocide.
Did opp evens watch the case, the stacks of evidence proving that Iserael is in the wrong or are u did the propoganda succesfully blind u?
a. i’m not a man 😂
b. sweetie, do you even know what the icj ruled? because it wasnt that 😂😂
and yes dingus, i watched the entire thing. i watched israel’s defense too. did you?
the former president did interviews to address how this was misinterpreted by the media.
in addition, let’s get into the actual DOCUMENT
not only was it biased and they admitted they did not take israel’s history or oct 7 into account, but there was no rulling that israel committed genocide. the ruling was that israel COULD commit genocide 😂😂 and that it needs to adhere to laws it’s already adhering to to make sure genocide does not happen.
the wording is stupid af, which is why you idiots misinterpreted it so badly. plus hamas hopped on it.
Summary of the Advisory Opinion of 19 July 2024 | INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
essentially all it does is explain the laws israel and palestine are held to. it also states israel is in “breach” of natural resource laws, but it doesnt take into account that fatah and hamas rule these areas, not israel.
for the “settlement policy,” the court ruled that israel MAYYYYYY be in breach, which does not mean it is.
transfer “MAY” be forcible.
it also talks about “settler violence” while providing no proof or evidence of actual violence. or admitting that most of that is in response to PALESTINIAN violence. hence the bias.
btw? it isn’t a fucking official, actual ruling. it’s an OPINION, as they stated.
also, one side is completely represented here and the other is shunted. israel’s sites and property being destroyed was not discussed. oct 7 wasnt either and the icj refused to see the evidence.
the un btw, is a body taken over by dictators:
The United Nations General Assembly is about to open, with the traditional lead-off speech by the president of Brazil followed by the presid
former secretary generals even admit there has always been bias against israel.
the current secretary general was a friend to arafat and visited putin in russia. the council of disarmament is headed by IRAN.
the UN human rights council is 64% dictatorships. its head is the ambassador from morocco, a country that is essentially an ethno state. “Morocco has been considered a repressive country for its restrictions on basic human rights, including freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the right to criticize officials.”
they elect reps from dictatorships to leadwrship positions concerning refugees, human rights, women, and children. iran was the head of the commission for the status of women for awhile. IRAN. plus the members of the councils are 60%+ from dictatorships and countries committing actual abuses. this means the MAJORITY of the membership of these councils are from countries without basic freedoms. hmm, i wonder if they might have an agenda here.
so you really think the UN is neutral? that it isn’t lying to you? the UN chooses israel to shit on so no one pays attention to the nasty shit the majority of its members’ countries do.
also? the majority of holocaust experts have decried calling this a genocide.
take for instance Father Patrick Desbois, whon studied mass graves of Jews from the Shoah:
https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/amp/news/256393/french-priest-and-holocaust-expert-takes-on-those-who-attempt-to-link-jesus-to-hamas-cause
Why the UN being corrupt needs to be proven to people at this point is beyond me. It should already be common knowledge that UN Aid workers have a history of forcing women from the countries they're supposed to be aiding into prostitution.
literally
people constantly use the UN like it’s so infallible source when it’s been a circle jerk of fascist jew haters for decades now. since the 60s and even before.
hate it that people first response to Israel saying they like hummus or falafel or shwarma is 'uegh what else do they steal'
SHUT UP
WHEN WE WERE KICKED OUT OF ARAB COUNTRIES WE TOOK OUR CULTURE WITH US
WE TOOK OUR RECIPES OF HUMMUS AND SHWARMA AND CHICKEN AND SALAD
WE TOOK OUR CULTURE AND OUR FOOD WITH US WHEN WE WERE KICKED OUT, WE HAD TO KEEP HOLD OF OUR IDENTITY SOMEHOW
JUST LIKE WITH FOOD, IRAQI JEWS WILL DO STUFF DIFFERENTLY TO MOROCCAN JEWS, SAME WITH POLISH JEWS AND GERMAN JEWS
WE HAVE DIFFERENT DAVENING, FOOD, DRESS AND CULTURE
yes Arabs and Jews have alot of the sake type of food BECAUSE WHEN YOU COWARDS KICKED US OUT WE TOOK OUR IDENTITY WITH US WHICH INCLUDES DRESS, FOOD AND LANGUAGE
.
but also we were colonized when we were forced out of judea and israel to “arab lands.” arabs conquered and colonized those populations and forced their culture on the indigenous populations.
jews of arab lands are not arabs just like jews of europe are not european.
"Free Palestine" was a Jewish slogan in the 1940s. Jews were the Palestinians (although most hated being called that). Everything we do is stolen or co-opted by the Arabs.
Jewish airline
Jewish Symphony Orchestra
Jewish Exhibition
Jewish indigeneity
Jewish currency and coinage
Palestine invaded by Arabs
I need to say something and I need y'all to be calm
if it isn't actively bad or harmful, no representation should be called "too simple" or "too surface level"
I have a whole argument for this about the barbie movie but today I wanna talk about a show called "the babysitters club" on Netflix
(obligatory disclaimer that I watched only two episodes of this show so if it's super problematic I'm sorry) (yes. I know it's based on a book, this is about the show)
this is a silly 8+ show that my 9 year old sister is watching and it manages to tackle so many complex topics in such an easy way. basic premise is these 13 year old girls have a babysitting agency.
in one episode, a girl babysits this transfem kid. the approach is super simple, with the kid saying stuff like "oh no, those are my old boy clothes, these are my girl clothes". they have to go to the doctor and everyone is calling the kid by her dead name and using he/him and this 13 year old snaps at like a group of doctors and they all listen to her. it's pure fantasy and any person versed in trans theory would point out a bunch of mistakes.
but after watching this episode, my little sister started switching to my name instead of my dead name and intercalating he/him pronouns when talking about me.
one of the 13 years old is a diabetic and sometimes her whole personality is taken over by that. but she has this episode where she pushes herself to her limit and passes out and talks about being in a coma for a while because of not recognizing the limits of her disability.
and this allowed my 9 year old sister to understand me better when I say "I really want to play with you but right now my body physically can't do that" (I'm disabled). she has even asked me why I'm pushing myself, why I'm not using my crutches when I complain about pain.
my mom is 50 years old and watching this show with my sister. she said the episode about the diabetic girl helped her understand me and my disability better. she grew up disabled as well, but she was taught to shut up and power through.
yes, silly simple representation can annoy you if you've read thousands of pages about queer liberation or disability radical thought, but sometimes things are not for you.
golf sucks but mini golf is fucking awesome....truly one of life's great paradoxes
golf:
wastes crazy amounts of space and water
soul-crushingly boring
extremely frustrating to all but the highest level of players (most golfers will never even shoot par)
prohibitively expensive (golf clubs are very costly and one round of golf can cost $100+)
mini golf:
18 holes will fit into an area the size of a small park; most courses use astroturf, which doesn't even require water
a fun game of skill to challenge your friends to
easy to get into, but difficult to master
cheap (you and your friends can probably play for like, $20)
BONUS: cool obstacles and gimmicks (windmills, water features, secret holes, etc.)
Golf: completely fucking silent practically on pain of death
Mini golf: dunking on ppl while theyre taking a shot is pretty much required
i will introducera you all to the best thing ever…
Adventure golf!!! ⛳️
it’s basically the two combined to make the best game. It’s basically just a miniature golf course mimicking a real golf course, but ya know mini. It is the best. trust me.
My high school history teacher once said, "America has supported miserable governments just because they were Anti-Commie."
And I'm seeing the same with the Far Left. They are supporting some of the most objectively horrible "governments" in the world (Iranian regime, Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, etc) with stone age-era penal codes just because they're Anti-West.
A very large chunk of the American Left supported Stalin in the 1950s. They thought they were being lied to about his crimes, though. The Iron Curtain did keep a lot of things hidden.
And now a very large chunk of the American and European Left are supporting religious fascist terrorists. They have all the information in the world about what those terrorists are doing. Like enslaving Africans, for instance. But that's okey-dokey with them; the Left can ignore that. They can scream that rape is resistance. They can heil Hitler at the Olympics. Anything and everything is permitted so long as they perform the One Neat Trick that gets them welcomed into Far Leftist spaces these days: Hating Jews.
I know a lot of left-leaning gentiles feel like Jews are over stating this. They feel like we are being overly sensitive or overreacting. They agree that some people step over the line, but think that antisemitism can’t possibly be as pervasive and as animating of a current political moment* as we are claiming.
I don’t think any of you who have thought that or wondered about it could possibly want for us to simply be overly sensitive or overreacting more than we wish we were.
Because right now what we are seeing all around us, for those of us who are leftist in our principles and our values, is that we no longer have safe comrades or even safe allies amongst many leftist communities or organizations, so our goals for the future and a more just and equitable world are largely being pursued by people who do not think that we, as Jews (and especially if we are Jews, who do not condemn the existence of Israel) should have any place in that future or that world.
*I do think it’s a moment not a movement as a whole — yet — but it’s edging very close to completely subsuming western leftism entirely because it’s been an omnipresent undercurrent that would ebb and flow, but has been flowing and growing for nearly a year now with no coubterbalance.
Leftists supporting fascists literally helped lead to the creation of the modern Iranian Republic. Ironically, coincidentally, also via student protests.
Would be nice NOT to see history repeating itself.
University students and progressives were targeted by the regime. Thought Influencers, if you will.
That whole, “We are the good side, the moral side, the side who are going to shift the paradigm and make things better for humanity” that we leftists do?
That can be radicalized and weaponized, as long as the marketing is effective enough.
Say that a relative of a Hamas higher-up was sent to do undergrad in the US and to learn what to say to get progressive students who care about injustice, to think the things that he’s been assigned to get them to think.
Now give this person a professorship where he can cherry pick information to polish & feed to hundreds of kids for four hours a week, every semester.
Kids who will go on to spread the information to their friends and their social media networks, and their families. Who will go abroad and plant the seeds that someone else will fertilize. Who will go on to teach it to their children and maybe even lecture halls of their own, to perpetuate the cycle.
You know, the modern version of what we’ve seen happen in Iran and in other fascist history, before the progressives backed the men who rose to power… on their backs.
Or give this person a TikTok. And watch how fast the influence spreads from what he says. Like what we saw happen when the pronunciation of the world, Palestine, became an In Group vs Out Group litmus test.
The leftist desire to be seen doing the right thing, to not be seen doing the wrong thing, and to be perceived as knowing the moral way to human, creates a competition of staying current that can only be achieved through media saturation.
It only takes 28 days to subliminally take someone’s thoughts from them and replace them with your own.
And as the algorithm sees what you’re watching all the way through, it’ll give you more and more of that same subject, which only strengthens the new thought patterns as being “just something that normal people think.”
Even though it’s become an obsession to the point where you can’t have a conversation with anyone about anything, without using Social Justice jargon or reminding you of the topic.
And then comes the purity culture.
Stripping topics of any and all nuance, reducing them down to their most basic elements and then using pseudo-logic from that, to draw conclusions about others.
“If you use the word, “Conflict,” to describe what’s been happening there, and not the word “genocide,” then it means that you don’t actually know what’s going on. Which means that you don’t care. Which means you’re a bad person. Which means I can’t be mutuals with you anymore.
Because after all, you’re only as moral as your sketchiest associate. And if I’m friends with someone who uses the word, “conflict,” and therefore condones genocide, then that means that I condone genocide too by association. Because I’m telling you that it’s okay to condone genocide every time you use the word, “conflict,” by being your mutual. Which is why I’m blocking you right after I send you this DM.”
And as the standards grow, the circle of perspective, shrinks. Which breeds more obsession, extremism and fear or hatred of anyone different.
I’m not immune to this pattern and neither are you.
The only differences between fascism and communism are talking points and the titles the ruling class give themselves.
its just a horseshoe!
I see a lot of posts saying "teach boys about consent".
While that is true, a lot of parents will do that and fail to see how their own actions are the problem.
If you've spanked him, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you've forced him to sit on Santa's lap, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you've forced him to give hugs and kisses to family members, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you've grabbed him in order to force him to sit still, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you've labeled him as "too sensitive" for not wanting to be touched, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you've assumed he's okay with something because he technically allowed it even though he felt pressured, he's less likely to understand consent.
If you're only going to criticize his actions but not your own, it won't work.
I am a firm believer that it's not just what he experiences in his life, but what he witnesses too. Okay so you don't do any of those to him but you do those things to his sisters? His cousins? His mom? He is learning consent is for him hut not for women.
One of my sisters has young children, both of whom are some flavor of neurodivergent. She is too, and as a result she often lost patience quickly with some of their quirks. The biggest offender is that her kids are extremely wary around anyone they deem to be a stranger, making social connection very difficult for all participants.
When I first met her daughter, she was 3 or 4, and was extremely reluctant to come and meet me. My sister began to shame and push and pull her towards me and I stopped her. I said "don't force her, don't teach her that she has to let men she doesn't know touch her, she doesn't need to hug me"
My sister froze in place, processed it for a moment, and let her daughter go. She went back to hiding behind mom. We continued our conversation and her son slowly approached me, hugged me, and climbed up onto the chair I was in to sit beside me and partially in my lap. After a few minutes, her daughter joined him. She didn't hug me, but she came over to touch and talk to me.
My sister was speechless. Her kids DON'T do that. I've heard many complaints from many family members about how antisocial they are. All I did was stick up for their right to offer or withdraw consent- and really just her daughter's, as her son had met me pre-covid and had already gotten over the hurdle at 2 years old, but her daughter was born during covid and thus it made her severe distrust of strangers even worse.
Now her kids are in elementary school and making friends easily and I regularly get stories from her about how she witnesses them connect with other socially withdrawn kids and stand up for both themselves and their quieter friends. She took my advice to heart and started allowing them to voice whether they consented to something and now her little boy will approach a crying kid on the playground and say something like "do you want to play, or do you want me to just sit with you, or do you want to be alone?" and then actually listen to what the other kid tells him.
My niece has an incredibly traumatized boy in her class who escaped war with his family, and he doesn't talk to anyone. But he visibly relaxes when my niece goes to sit next to him when he's too scared and curled up in the classroom's Quiet Corner. She reads to him and shows him her toys and holds his hand on field trips and yells at anyone who is mean to him. I'm told she's the only person who can approach or touch him without causing a meltdown besides his family, and it started because the first time she sat with him she asked if it was okay if she did so and she waited several minutes for him to nod before she sat down.
But they still avoid the family members that forced them to interact even when they were uncomfortable. I still hear those complaints, hundreds of miles away, and the jealousy that I've only met the kids a few times but they talk incessantly about me. If I call one of my family members and the kids are over, I can hear them in the background trying to talk to me if they figure out it's me on the other line.
Anyway. Long story short I didn't have to advocate for my nephew the way I did my niece, but advocating for my niece in front of the both of them dramatically changed the way both of them were taught to manage social interaction. Consent isn't just about teaching the boy. It's also making sure he sees that consent being practiced with everyone.
hot take apparently but i think it's good for white people to relate to poc's art. i think it's good for straight people to relate to queer art. stop acting like we're different species who could never possibly understand each other what the fuck is wrong with you
A note to Christians supporting Israel: Jesus was a native Palestinian man. His mother was from Nazareth, he was born in Bethlehem, which are both places in Palestine.
To support Israel’s attacks on Palestinian people is also supporting the genocide of Jesus’ brothers and sisters.
Jesus’ whole message was to spread love and encourage resistance upon the oppressors of him and his people.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
Mashallah, and may the holy month of Ramadan bring good tidings to our Muslim brothers and sisters who are suffering in Palestine.
Palestine didnt exist when Jesus was born. But you know what did? Israel. Also its hilarious that you talk about Jesus message of peace and love and then immediately call for genocide.
Also also Jesus never spoke of resistance and if he did it would never be violent. Jesus spent a ton of time with awful hateful people and never turned to violence. Except that one time but thats just because it was his house.
LMFAO!! Israel was not established as an official state until 1948.
And yes, Jews and pre-Muslim natives lived there together. Palestine had always existed (but had probably gone by many names before) and had only became the place you call “Isrrael” in 1948 when the Palestinian natives opened their arms wide open to welcome Jewish refugees of the holocaust. Palestinians welcomed the Jewish refugees with love and acceptance, only to be paid back with genocide and cultural cleansing.
I suggest you make a quick Google search to see for yourself as to when Israel was established. Of course Jesus would never call for violence to free his land, but he sure as hell would NOT tolerate what is currently happening.
So I did as you suggested and googled when Israel was founded and It says about a couple thousand years ago. And yeah of course Jesus would be against whats happening now. Im pretty sure rape and kidnapping is a sin so palestine should stop doing that.
