That whole, “We are the good side, the moral side, the side who are going to shift the paradigm and make things better for humanity” that we leftists do?
That can be radicalized and weaponized, as long as the marketing is effective enough.
Say that a relative of a Hamas higher-up was sent to do undergrad in the US and to learn what to say to get progressive students who care about injustice, to think the things that he’s been assigned to get them to think.
Now give this person a professorship where he can cherry pick information to polish & feed to hundreds of kids for four hours a week, every semester.
Kids who will go on to spread the information to their friends and their social media networks, and their families. Who will go abroad and plant the seeds that someone else will fertilize. Who will go on to teach it to their children and maybe even lecture halls of their own, to perpetuate the cycle.
You know, the modern version of what we’ve seen happen in Iran and in other fascist history, before the progressives backed the men who rose to power… on their backs.
Or give this person a TikTok. And watch how fast the influence spreads from what he says. Like what we saw happen when the pronunciation of the world, Palestine, became an In Group vs Out Group litmus test.
The leftist desire to be seen doing the right thing, to not be seen doing the wrong thing, and to be perceived as knowing the moral way to human, creates a competition of staying current that can only be achieved through media saturation.
It only takes 28 days to subliminally take someone’s thoughts from them and replace them with your own.
And as the algorithm sees what you’re watching all the way through, it’ll give you more and more of that same subject, which only strengthens the new thought patterns as being “just something that normal people think.”
Even though it’s become an obsession to the point where you can’t have a conversation with anyone about anything, without using Social Justice jargon or reminding you of the topic.
And then comes the purity culture.
Stripping topics of any and all nuance, reducing them down to their most basic elements and then using pseudo-logic from that, to draw conclusions about others.
“If you use the word, “Conflict,” to describe what’s been happening there, and not the word “genocide,” then it means that you don’t actually know what’s going on. Which means that you don’t care. Which means you’re a bad person. Which means I can’t be mutuals with you anymore.
Because after all, you’re only as moral as your sketchiest associate. And if I’m friends with someone who uses the word, “conflict,” and therefore condones genocide, then that means that I condone genocide too by association. Because I’m telling you that it’s okay to condone genocide every time you use the word, “conflict,” by being your mutual. Which is why I’m blocking you right after I send you this DM.”
And as the standards grow, the circle of perspective, shrinks. Which breeds more obsession, extremism and fear or hatred of anyone different.
I’m not immune to this pattern and neither are you.
