reminder to all disabled people that youāre allowed to tell people āi canāt do thatā about stuff you can ātechnicallyā do but which harms you or requires a period of recovery or preparatory rest etc. you donāt have to explain the complex nuances of your condition to anybody who demands it. iāve found itās honestly better to give the least amount of info about your symptoms unless you trust a person a lot. you hold the power over your health information. you choose whether or not to share the details of your condition with people who might not understand.
having free control over our endrocrine systems and the ability to change our genitals is currently inextricably tied to trans rights, and for good reason, but frankly i don't think it even needs to be. it should just be a matter of bodily autonomy, and that should be universal. if a cis dude wants tits and a pussy i think that would be fine. if cis women want a dick or nothing at all that should be allowed i think. people shouldn't need to be transgender to be allowed to change their bodies. free the nipple, enlarge the nipple, remove the nipple. whatever the fuck you want. i dont know if there's a term for this belief but i hold it very strongly. everybody biohack yourselves NOW
When I am king, we will valorize sanitation workers the way we currently valorize the military
So heroic posters showing trashmen battling allegorical monsters? I'm down.
Yeah but that's just the beginning. I also want Sanitation Worker Discounts at every business and blockbuster movie propaganda glorifying sanitation work. I want random people to salute garbage collectors and thank them for their service. I want drivers who get impatient with the recycling truck and honk at it and swerve around it to become social pariahs
There are hardly any female werewolves because they break all the classic rules of femininity. They force you to confront female violence, strength, size, grotesqueness and uncontrollability. Historically female shapeshifters always shift into something dangerous (snake) or sleek (cat) or dainty (bird) but female werewolves ignore the masculine gaze completely. They're distorted beasts that have no ulterior motive except to destroy. Nothing about them is nurturing or modest. They're the opposite of what a woman "should be." Their omission from pop culture is not an accident.
I know this is maybe not the point of the post, but this reminded me of this beautiful poem called When My Wife Is A Werewolf by Rosamund Taylor which I really adore so I thought I would share it.
This is taken from a collection of contemporary queer Irish poetry called Queering the Green, which has some truly wonderful work in it and is available from The Lifeboat Press (currently sold out but hopefully available again soon if you're interested).

After a certain point of height, being tall stops being beneficial and in fact becomes actively detrimental to countless aspects of your daily life, and it gets worse the taller you get. The world isnāt designed to accommodate people of my height. My back is constantly sore from having to bend over (I try to squat when possible but oftentimes you really have no choice) for every little thing. Iām too tall to fit on my mattress with my legs extended completely. I hit my head on things constantly. The desks at my workās āopen officeā setup are impossible for me to use ergonomically comfortably, and I canāt use them as standing desks without squatting. Finding clothes that fit me is a very difficult and miserable experience. I stand out everywhere I go and am always the tallest person in the room. Appliances and sinks are always too short for me to comfortably use. In my car I have to bend over to see the stoplight above at a lot of intersections. This is just a glimpse into the way being tall is frustrating at best, and makes things significantly harder at worst.
Someone once said in the tags of one of my posts that being super tall is basically a disability. At first I thought that was maybe a bit of an extreme statement, but the more I think about it and the more I suffer the consequences from living my whole life in a world that isnāt designed to accommodate people like me, the more I think that might not be such an exaggeration after all.
Basically what Iām saying is this. If youāre lucky enough to have a tall girl in your life, try to keep her struggles in mind and do what you can to help. Also maybe offer to give her a back massage or something
as a girl who regularly sets "tallest person i've ever seen" records for people, i also really really really have to say.
STOP FUCKING SAYING STUPID SHIT ABOUT IT OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU IMBECILES ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN PICKING ONE OF THREE DIALOG LINES THAT I'VE HEARD FROM LITERALLY EVERYONE I'VE EVER MET SINCE I WAS TWELVE
like not only is there the sheer irritation of hearing the same thing over and over again day in and day out but also
>i didn't ask for or do anything to become this tall
>i do not enjoy almost any aspect of being this tall
>you are commenting on an aspect of my body that i do not have any control over
>WHY THE FUCK!!!!!!ARE YOU ALL!!!!!!! SO GODDAMNED SEXUAL ABOUT IT?!?!?!?!
>seriously. one of the great realizations that transitioning put together for me is that i feel *exactly* the same yuck when an old lady goes "waouw ur so tall" as i do when some fuckass man is like "hey baby nice tits!!!!"
>holy. motherfucking. shit. none of you react well to having any of this pointed out to you. at best, i've been told (not paraphrasing) that i need to learn to "shut up and just deal with it bc you're tall so it's gonna keep happening". at worst, i have literally had someone explicitly threaten to kill me bc i said smth flippant when they asked if i played basketball.
so yea i would fucking love a little support, maybe a back rub
BUT CAN YOU PLEASE STOP SEXUALLY HARRASSING ME?????
...please
I hold your heart and you hold mine.

Hooking up when having hEDS is fucking wild. Iām 31. Iāll go home with someone telling me I could pass for 21. Then when Iām riding them my knees are popping like Iām 51.
Fucking same
Except its my shoulders
thinking about the time a former housemate said to me "hey I put these box fans in the living room because it's hot" while gesturing to the fans that I was actively sitting in front of because it was hot. and I said "okay thanks." and she kept standing there like she was waiting for something else so I said "am I blocking the airflow? do you need me to move?" and she said no I'm just letting you know they're here, in the living room, for circulation. and I said well yes, I did put that together. I am enjoying them. thank you. and she looked confused. so I asked "am I meant to do something with this information or are you just informing me?" and she said no I'm letting you know they're here because It's Hot In Here. she seemed a bit aggravated, and her emphasis seemed deliberate.
it took me asking three more times before she finally told me she wanted me to leave the fans where they are instead of moving them to my room or something. and I said oh! I had no intention of doing so but thank you for letting me know what the expectation is.
about a month later she brought up that conversation as the moment it actually clicked for her that I Am Autistic And Will Not Magically Intuit The Unspoken Request You Didn't Ask Me.
I have observed enough allistic communication to know that generally, if somebody points something out to you that you can already see or are already clearly interacting with, they are making an indirect request. but as I don't know what the request is, the only way forward is for me to guess (and likely get it wrong), or prompt the allistic to tell me clearly what they need.
however, allistics don't realize they do this, so asking them to say the unspoken surprises and confuses them. this is not their fault. allistics can be quite emotionally fragile and perceive directness as confrontation, so they habitually rely on indirect speech and coded language to preserve others' feelings. this is why they may find it difficult to be direct, even when asked. I have found that with enough gentle encouragement and reassurance that they are actually helping you, you too can achieve successful communication with your allistic friend or loved one. :)
Remember when Xbox was going to basically ban used games for the xbox one, and Playstation made fun of them with that video titled "how to share games on Playstation" and it was just one guy handing another a game disk? And now Playstation is getting rid of physical disks entirely
Itās like they expect us to just forget their original marketing schemes in favor of more and more money grabs.
