Curiosity glowed with pride as she showed them the rock she just found. "μГΩ°?" she anxiously blipped. "No," they answered with amusement in English, "not Earth. ¥¡￦." The little rover hesitantly repeated the word. They smiled. Curiosity still struggled to understand the planet in native terms, but she was bright and dear to them- a lovely little pet. Perhaps "pet" wasn't really the correct term; "ward" better suited this tiny, newly sentient creature. They had maintained Curiosity, extending her life far beyond the expected two years. In return for their kindness, the panoramas sent back to NASA were carefully pieced together to omit all signs of her benefactors. She no longer considered herself the property of Earth. Curiosity was now a citizen of this red world.

You know what else was invented by women? Masked vigilantes, the precursor to the modern superhero. Baroness Emma Orczy wrote The Scarlet Pimpernel in 1905. The character would later inspire better known masked vigilantes such as Zorro and Batman.
