truthfully I am always amazed at how maxf isn't jaded about lando's success. like that...I don't know if I could be that..ok..for lack of a better word, about it.

that's really at the heart of what makes mr fewtrell so interesting to me, like surely he must've gone through catastrophic ego death at the end of 2020 into 2021, when the thing he'd trained and worked his whole life for had crashed and burned, and instead of pulling away from racing and resenting lando for doing what he never could, he functionally fell into lando's embrace instead, started to orbit him, and never left. he found a way to be okay with who he was without racing, because lando helped him and gave him something to do. what is it about his personality that made it possible for him to accept that, need that, use that? it's fascinating to me because it wasn't inevitable, he didn't have to stay, but he did.
