Welcome to whumpie-comforts. This blog will most likely focus on whump prompts and tropes more so than writings focused on specific characters. While I do have characters I whump I am unlikely to share them. There's no hard limits for this blog, but I will trigger tag appropriately.
When Whumpee first met Whumper they felt very anxious around them. However Whumpee has often felt anxious for no reason so they shake that feeling off. Then, a while later, maybe during whump, maybe after, Whumpee remembers that and spirals. They could have avoided all the torture if only they listened to themselves for once.
The many uses of Whumpee being incredibly beaten up. Covered in bruises and cuts and maybe a few gashes, add a broken bone in if serious injuries are your thing. They aren’t fatally wounded, but it looks ugly. Maybe whumper realizes they went way too far after seeing just how fucked up Whumpee looks. Maybe Whumpee is getting rescued and caretaker/ team gets to see. Maybe Whumpee is trying to hide the whump and can’t anymore. Also Whumpee just looks very weak and damaged and vulnerable, which is bad for prideful and stoic (possibly living weapons and defiant too) Whumpees.
Whumper who uses Whumpee as a a stress relief tool, taking out all the frustrations and negative interactions they had on Whumpee and defiant Whumpee who shoots the insults others mocked Whumper with right back at them.
whumper assaulting whumpee in whumpee's own bed and now they can't sleep there any more
whumpee has been coming over to caretaker's place night after night, lately. most every night, in fact, for the last couple of weeks. they don't mind at all. this is typical for them - it's why they have each other's keys in the first place. some nights whumpee sleeps curled up on their couch, some nights they sleep beside caretaker in their bed. this is something that they've done before too, frequently, but not like this. not every night, and not with the other strange things that come along with it.
nightmares. shaking. flinching. the way they never seem to turn the lights on in the bathroom. the way they're never going home at night.
one night, whumpee had started out on the couch, woken up in a panic, and come in to lay down with caretaker in their bedroom. caretaker is looking at them through the dark, rubbing their thumb gently back and forth on whumpee's blanket-covered shoulder. worry sits, thick and heavy, in their throat.
"i can't talk about it," whumpee whispers, finally. they're trembling faintly, laying close enough that caretaker can feel it. "i just- i can't. i'm sorry. i-"
"you don't have to," caretaker tells them, keeping their voice quiet and gentle. whumpee leans closer, their forehead pressing into caretaker's chest. they exhale in a slow, shaky breath, so relieved that caretaker can feel their body lose its rigid tension. "i don't- i'm worried. i'm really worried, i won't lie and say i'm not, i know something's going on. but you don't have to say anything. not until you're ready."
rescued! Living Weapon who thinks that they died and went somewhere better
so I was scrolling through Whump (as you do) and I had this idea of a Living Weapon who was rescued, but they think that they died.
like:
LW is found barely conscious on the battlefield, breathing shallow and almost dead
Team brings them back to base, heals them and what not
LW seeing Caretaker when they wake up and they think Caretaker is an angel
They knew they died on that battlefield. They felt their life pouring out through the hole in their armour, the blackness creeping in on their vision, the quiet stillness and silence that followed.
All they know is that they are finally free from the torment of their handlers/owners/whatever, and now they don’t have to worry
You can’t be hurt if you’re dead, right?
And so they actually recover well, thinking that now they are in Heaven or some other, better place away from the carnage of their past life, which now just seems like a horrible dream.
The Team are angels to them, there to help and heal them, and Caretaker is of course their angel
And so imagine the horror and pain they feel when they see one of their handlers brought in for questioning
And the crushing reality that they are still alive and their old tormentors are still around
"get up." a light nudge followed by a kick to their abdomen. "get up."
whumpee shakes their head. curls up tighter into themself. what's the point, if all that awaits them is more endless agony anyways?
a low cry of despair slips past their lips as whumper grabs their hair and pulls them up. "I said," two heavy slaps followed by a warning squeeze to the back of their throat. "get the fuck up."
whumpee trembles, trembles, trembles. tasting blood, feeling it dribble past their chin. it won't stop. what's the point?
Multiple Whumpees but focused on the recovery stage instead of the whump stage. Maybe there's one Caretaker, maybe multiple whom all take care of the Whumpees, but care is split equally between the Caretakers. Either way, now Caretaker (I will be using only one for my ideas for this prompt) has to figure out how to deal with multiple traumatized Whumpees. Even better if they all went through the same trauma so Caretaker assumes they will all be similar but in reality they all act very different. Maybe you have one very open Whumpee and one stoic one, and the open one asks Caretaker to stop doing something and Caretaker does the same for stoic Whumpee but actually stoic Whumpee really liked what they were doing. So many delicious miscommunication options.

FAQ and text version under the cut!
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Where can I find the prompts list?
A: @whumperless-whump-event on Tumblr.
Q: How are the prompts divided?
A: Each day has a "title" or a vague theme, followed by two tropes and one dialogue prompt.
Q: Can I use the title as a prompt?
A: Absolutely.
Q: Do I have to use all of the prompts?
A: Not at all.
Q: Can I use all the prompts?
A: Absolutely.
Q: If I'm writing a chronological story, can I swap days to fit the timeline?
A: Yes, just make sure you tag your days and prompts appropriately. If you're writing for day 6, but you post it on day 12, tag day 6, not day 12.
Q: Can I have early or late entries?
A: Yes. This is a very laid back event, and meant mainly to inspire lots of whumperless whump. It's not a strict writing challenge.
Q: Is there an Ao3 collection?
A: Yes! This year's collection is linked here. The parent collection also includes 2024 and 2025--make sure you select 2026.
Q: Can I write [insert anything here]?
A: Yes. However, this blog will not reblog certain topics (ex. nsfw or suicide), so please tag your works appropriately, so anyone can filter out anything they don't want to see.
Q: Can I use AI?
A: No.
Q: Can a whumper be included in the prompt fill?
A: The short answer is no. The long answer is that you cannot have the role of whumper in your prompt fill (aka: no whumper-on-whumpee); however, if the character you want to be a whumpee or a caretaker happens to be a whumper, then as long as they are not fulfilling the role of whumper, it's fine. Also, if there is a whumper, it must be totally impersonal and faceless. Here are some examples for clarification:
A character's drink is spiked at a party.
OKAY: The whumper who spiked the drink is never mentioned and is completely faceless, and the story is directly about whumpee recovering.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper who spiked the drink kidnaps the whumpee.
A character is left alone in a storm.
OKAY: The character is stranded or lost.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: Whumper tied them to a post and left them in the storm.
A character is mugged on the street.
OKAY: The whumper is a stranger, faceless, and the focus is on Whumpee.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper is a stalker and there to kidnap Whumpee.
All in all, if your goal is to fulfill the event, then try to avoid a whumper. If you're using the prompts elsewhere, then ignore this, but in the spirit of the event, no whumper roles please.
Q: How do I tag my posts?
A: Tag with #whumperless whump event, #wwevent 2026 and #wwevent day [x](Don't just tag wwe, that's wresting.) Make sure to tag the fill type (art, fic, music, etc) with #fic, #art, #et cetera. Then, tag triggers and content warnings. Please put these first in the tag order! It just makes it easier to reblog.
Q: How do I get reblogged?
A: Mention this blog in your post! It's the easiest way for me to find you. Otherwise, I won't reblog it. (This also means if you do not want your post reblogged to the event, just don't mention the blog, and it'll stay private.)
Q: I disagree with something/have an issue with a prompt/want to address a problem. How should I do it?
A: Send me an ask and we can fix it. I am more than willing to work through any problems--I am human, and not without fault.
I think that's about it. That's a lot, so if you've got any other questions that aren't on the list, feel free to shoot me an ask. I'm happy to help!

Whumper/Carewhumper who realized they pushed Whumpee too far. Maybe Whumpee has been stoic this entire time and now just won't stop sobbing. Maybe Whumpee was defiant and now is just... complacent. Maybe there was something Whumpee always cared about, a comfort object or person, and now when Whumper tries to tempt them with it Whumpee just shakes their head. Especially good with a Whumper or Carewhumper who thought that what they were doing was best for Whumpee, but now they very clearly pushed them too far.
