And look who decided to make a intro post! I don't even have one in my main lol
Hi, call me whatever you want but if you can't choose you can go with charlie. Pronouns literally whatever.
I regularly throw phones into the bed because of whump (but it's sooo good!)
I post ideas as they come, I might post my original whump story if I can risk myself exploding.
My favorite tropes are : manhandling / blunt force trauma / exposed to the elements / hallucination / sensory overload / power imbalance / lots of pent up or suppressed emotions / identity crisis / lasting trauma / living weapon whump / psychological whump / totalitarian whump / multiple overlapping whump relationships / found family caretaker / and language in whump for some reason
And hurt : comfort = 1 : 1
I don't dislike nsfw whump, but most of the time it feels like erotica rather than a whump fic for me, so I don't post that here.
Because of the same reason, kink blogs are welcome but I probably won't interact.
No DNIs for now since I've never met people that irks me yet
I may post very gory/intense hurt content(probabaly text)
I am very bad at tagging content warnings! I will try my best but please please please tell me if you need something tagged!
Random asks welcome! @ing from strangers welcome! Silly comments welcome! I love interactions.
The population is divided into Adevins and Foyns. Adevins are 'electric,' meaning they have vast, great amounts of power that often grow hard to control. Think of an armfull of marbles without a container.
Foyns are not 'electric,' meaning they have small, refined, and controlled magic, not practical, really. Think of a few tight-knit pouches of marbles; it's easy to keep in your hands but hard to use when you need it.
The basic concept is that, while Adevins can use magic by themselves, Adevins often overflow. Foyns on the other hand can't use any magic in their daily lives on their own.
Which leads to the adetone. The Adevin gives their loose current to the Foyn for them to use, and in return the Foyn gives the Adevin their refined currents (often called currentas) so they have a place to store their magic.
Simple, right? Here's the catch:
In nature, this doesn't look like a mutual exchange. To a magical population without knowledge of the magibiology it looks like the Adevin gave up their overflowing magic to a "magicless" Foyn.
Conventionally it is assumed that the magic the Adevin gives to the Foyn is a gift, and the Foyn should only use the given magic for the Adevin it came from.
This flips the equal relationship. Since it's an electric-centered society - also can be called an Adevin-centered society - a person needs magic to function in the world. A Foyn can't survive socially without magic; I'm talking elevators not opening, IDs not working kind of survival. A Foyn needs an Adevin.
But they can only use the magic they get for the Adevin. They can't open their own businesses, do their own work. They work as the Adevin's cabinet, in a patron-laborer system, forever the one recieving the wages and never the one giving.
Wait, it gets worse. Adevins have much more current than the total currentas Foyns have. Foyns get hitvenned. Sorry for inventing too many terms but hey. I like making terms. Basically a one-on-one exchange overwhelms the Foyn. A hitvenned Foyn gives symptoms like dissociation, physical pain, nausea, dizziness, headaches. This happens in almost every adetone that doesn't have an experienced Adevin, though varying in severity. A bad hitvenning can leave lasting injury or even be lethal.
It's not like the Adevins can live without Foyns, either. Regularly their magic overflows and results in a monthly or bimonthly Fever. Symptoms include lack of focus, high body temperature, and stronger appetite. When this goes on too long without a Dety session (meditation techniques) or an adetone, they might lose control.
Why would you not do an adetone? Well, to prove the Dety Resistance Metric. Adevin values include generosity but most importantly power. Dety Resistance Metric was invented by a magazine trying to sell tapes. It's how long one can go without adetones or a Dety. Sounds horrible, right? But it gets worse: what happens when they actually do an adetone after their year of holding breath? What happens to their adetone partner? Apparently that's not in their interests.
Foyns have values too. Adevins, who are the leaders of society, are valued for their power, generosity, and calmness - ability to control their currents. Foyns are traditionally valued for their loyalty, ability to stand a harsh adetone, or knowledge of how to use the currents. Disgusting, is it not?
Recent developments have changed the scene somewhat.
I know I know I am on hiatus for six more months but but
I need some dopamine in my system
CW. Authoritarian whump, conditioned whumpee, brainwashing, cultural erasure
Leo - or Lescaro, it depends; is a traitor to the Resistance and a loyal dog of Major Sellers. ISW slick, hair cut and combed back, stands at attention to the Admiral, and knows the Vow of the Citizen by heart. Though the Empire never considered him a citizen. He's an Antonnite - by blood of course, Leo claims he's "civilized" - red eyes, brown hair, leads the League of Lowland Recruits. In all ways, a disgusting little Empire rat and an enemy to his oppressed people.
I can't believe it's only been a year or so...... a brief break on hiatus because I made something it got out of hand and I don't know where to put them
Day 20
"Just enough to assist the procedure," Ryan continued, with the professionally friendly smile. The exact one.
"Not too high for discomfort, only for correction. There's an additional tag here."
Where Ryan pointed was a strip of paper, color matching the white on his chin, secured neatly around the band. The metal pressed cold against his wrist as it wrapped around and slid to fit. Leo idly noticed the CS-IV faintly writ into the metal, most likely standing for maybe Correction Shocker, fourth version.
"Okay," he replied. Ryan took another sip from his mug and spoke again. Leo thought the table was still too clinical white even with the cloth.
"You need to wear this during active hours. Taking them off without permission is-"
Ryan smiled that sympathy smile. The one that didn't really leave much room for objection.
"-marked as EB. It's waterproof, so you don't have to worry about washing hands and such."
Okay, Leo thought. Did that mean showers were restricted to personal hour? He absentmindedly scratched at the white strip of sticker on the side of his chin.
"What about sho-"
A shooting prick stabbed through his left wrist with a single beep. Leo winced, startled. He looked up, and Ryan raised the blue-gray remote in his hand to show him.
"Remember, don't touch your tag. If you're experiencing increasing or high discomfort in the skin then you should tell me."
Leo lowered his hand into his lap, feeling slightly embarrassed. That hurt more than he expected.
"Okay."
Ryan spoke again.
"Was that too hard for you? We can adjust if you want. It's currently set at standard strength."
Leo swallowed. Truth be told, he wasn’t completely sure yet about the shocker, a fact he would never say out loud. But it wasn’t like it was unbearable. It was standard strength, after all.
"No, it's fine."
Leo felt he should add something else to that reply, but the pause passed in a flash and Ryan was talking again.
"Let's keep the tag clean, right? You've been doing great with the EB record. Can't lose that."
True, Leo would avoid the black tag if it was possible. He was reminded again of the lingering unpleasantness from the past encounter with Alvin, black-tag. Leo felt Ryan knew him very well, though that wasn't anything special by now.
"Also, the device has tracker and ID embedded, so we have better reach of you. Pretty helpful, so."
Okay, Leo thought. He felt that mild dissatisfaction again, but didn't think much of it.
okay but do you ever think about the inherit twisted intimacy of torture?
two people spending hours together, lost in the same process. fingers on your skin. the only voice you hear for days on end. the only presence you know. the closeness of having your skin be torn apart under their fingers. having another understand perfectly just how much pain you're in. having to rely on them to treat your wounds, being you water and food so you survive and heal. cry before them, break and have your every emotion on display. having them turn into your whole world.
do you get it?
and then -- the way the torturer can use it as another tool.
torture that leans into intimacy. hands stroking your hair as your warm blood pours out of you. soft whispers urging you to stay awake when the pain is overwhelming. strong arms holding you as you cry, those same arms holding you down as you thrush from agony. suddenly gentle fingers pulling your skin back together because you need to heal before you can take more. having your begging be answered with words of comfort that don't stop the torture. waking up to their gentle smile before the pain begins anew. hearing your name on their lips. taking all the comfort from someone who hurts you, because that's the only comfort you'd ever get.
or -- torture that is clinically, intentionally devoid of intimacy. no questions, no words spoken. the only touch you feel is that of the blade and the thick gloves. not being allowed to see their face. knowing no matter how much you beg not a single word of yours will be acknowledged. never being addressed until you forget that you're still a person. being trapped in a hell with not an ounce of comfort. isolation while still seeing someone daily.
or -- a torturer that combines the two. that goes from all the intimacy to none if you do something wrong or if their mood changes. they come in in gloves and you cry and beg to be acknowledged. constant anxiety from not knowing what kind of day it'd be. getting used to their hands closing your wounds before they're gone. breaking down and trying to do your best to fix whatever mistake you've made to have it back. getting used to no skin contact until they take off the gloves. flinching away from touch as if it burns only to immediately lean in. twisted gratitude when they hug you. always fearing losing what little comfort they give you.
Another bit of a teaser to a whump series im working on:
Older Whumpee who knows they can’t keep up with Younger Whumpee.
They’ve been with Whumper for years, their body is scarred and mutilated. Whilst Younger Whumpee, they’re scar free, they’re energetic, they don’t ache every time they move. They’re not burdened by the same trauma Older Whumpee is. In comparison, Older Whumpee feels like disposable trash.
Older Whumpee ignoring the problems Younger Whumpee has because Younger Whumper’s problems are mental and emotional not physical.
Older Whumpee creating an emotion barrier between themself and Younger Whumpee because their problems aren’t the same.
Older Whumpee who can no longer earn their Master’s affection watching in envy as Younger Whumpee gets treated the exact same way they did when they were new, when Whumper first bought them.
Younger Whumpee who watches the torture Older Whumpee goes through on a daily basis and is emotionally scarred by it but secretly relieved that it’s not them going through that.
hi whump community let me tell you about a drug called datura!! because boy is it a doozy.
datura is a deliriant, which means it is a hallucinogenic drug capable of causing serious and often terrifying delusions and hallucinations that are literally indistinguishable from reality in the user’s mind.
It is poisonous and part of the nightshade family, and the dosage used to get high off of it is actually very close to the lethal dose. it is also not only entirely legal in most places but also very accessible. it’s grown as a house plant, actually. most people who trip off of it only do it once because of how awful of an experience it is. also trips last like a long time (anywhere from 12 hours to 3 days if i remember correctly?)
the hallucinations that come with this drug are incredibly horrifying, making it literal nightmare fuel. also the more long term effects from it can include permanent psychosis and lingering delusions. fun stuff.
common hallucination experiences from this drug include the following:
- heavy gore
- seeing corpses
- feeling like you’ve been transported to an alternate dimension (hell)
- seeing people or entities you know (but a little fucked up)
- parasites and bugs
- feeling as though your organs are falling out of your body
- shadows in the back of your vision
- smoking phantom cigarettes or eating phantom food (phantom in the sense that they aren’t really there)
- torture scenarios
all in all, i think it’s a rlly interesting thing that can definitely be used in whump. like imagine a whumper lacing someone’s tea with that. the whumpee wouldn’t even be aware that something was done to them due to the fact that they physically cannot tell the difference between delusion and reality. real fun stuff. probably need an immortal whumpee though just cuz if someone takes this there’s a high chance of them getting hospitalized.
consider the following: isekae whump. whumpee trapped in another world, either foreign or familiar, in a body that isnt theirs, possibly grappling with instincs that arent their own, facing down monsters or robots or what have you, and being painfully naive and/or oblivious to the dangers around them, or possibly too aware of the dangers to the point of agoraphobia and panic attacks
Since it's a completely different world - Whumpee's most weak point is information. They don't know things that even a toddler from that world knows. Now, consider:
Whumpee, tired and weak from all the wandering and dodging, desperate to not die, finally is able to join a team. Though, the team doesn't take burdens. What they need is help, but, better than alone. Whumpee needs to lie and pretend their way in, hiding that everything is completely new to them.
Injuries appear. Sometimes they go hungry. They can't show them, as the threat of being kicked out is there every minute of the day.
Sometimes Whumpee leaves themself out intentionally. It looks very fun, very rewarding, and the nice team member really really wants Whumpee to go but.. well. Can't risk being shown with not knowing the foreign place. They're just about getting a little bit used to this area.
Someone's suspicious. More lying to cover it up. I'm from another area, actually. I used to live in a tiny village. Which village? The one to the east. No, no, I think that's the other village, there's no way we could have lived in the same- yeah. Yeah.
Whumpee's barely scraping by when another problem appears.
A stranger approaches them. They seem to recognize Whumpee.
Hi everyone! @whumpetywhumpwhump here- I noticed there doesn't seem to be an official Medwhump May running this year, so I'm running one myself :)
I appreciate it's pretty late in the game to be releasing prompts, but I was waiting to see whether the official page was going to post anything before deciding to start mine. Hopefully a few of you would like to get involved (even if it is short notice lol)
RULES!
No AI-generated content
Please tag this account if you post your challenge submissions on Tumblr and use the tag 'medwhump may' (as in the tags of this post)
For completionists, all 31 days must be completed (using either the daily prompt or an alt prompt)
When creating content for chronic illnesses and seizures, PLEASE USE THE RELEVANT WHUMP TAGS INSTEAD OF THE GENERAL TAGS. e.g 'seizure whump' rather than just 'seizures'. This avoids important tags being flooded with whump fics
Have fun!
I will update these rules if necessary! Happy whumping!
