i see a lot of "both is good" on this post so let me fill y'all's plates with a lil bit of everything:
-all day the answer has been "i'm fine." then they go totally pale and shaky, looking a little lost and confused. when they're asked a question and say "i don't know," caretaker (s) LEAP into action
-"i'm fine," they say through gritted teeth. "okay, okay. relax. let's just keep going, then." not ten minutes later, we get "hang on. i think i need a second." "hey, are you okay? what's going on?" "i'm not... i don't know." cue the collapse
-"i'm fine" all day to the team, then caretaker gets them alone and asks if they're okay. "i'm fine." "bullshit. take a minute and think about it. what's wrong?" "i'm f--" caretaker glares. "don't." a deep breath. "i'm not sure."
whumpee is so bad at resting when they're sick that leader basically puts out an APB and lets the team know that if seen, they are to restrain whumpee by any means necessary and alert the proper authorities (leader, who is pissed, and medic, who is more pissed). i want to see a character with so few survival instincts that it leads to a manhunt
It's a good month to whump our favorite characters!
In AitCM, to complete, you only have to write 15 days, and the other fifteen days you read & rec a fic that fits one the prompts for the day. (Feel free to create and promote art pieces as well!)
This not only makes it easier to fit into a busy schedule, but it helps promote your favorite writers!
You are more than welcome, of course, to write all thirty days or rec all thirty days—or both—but that is not necessary to complete the challenge.
Join us in filling the world with spectacular whump stories!
Tag us in your stories, recs, and art!

OCs and Fandom works alike are welcome :)
Trigger and content tags required, even if the prompt explicitly requires the content (eg. Vomiting still needs the emetophobia tag)

If enough interest is shown, I will make an Ao3 collection (edit: ao3 collection is made and can be found here)
Side note: please let me know if there's anything I can do to make this post or event more accessible. Should I put the image transcripts on the ID too? Is the formatting causing issues? What can I do?
This is not a contest, just an event. The only awards will be announcements for people who completed the whole darn thing. My entries will not receive any announcements or awards, because I'm hosting

sorry but im a sucker for character development. make your defiant whumpee beg and plead, make your harsh leader sob around a gag, make your weakest angry and violent, make your naïve whumpee go through hell. make your team watch as their entire sense of being collapses, make your caretaker unsure of how to care for them now that they’re so different. make your innocent whumpee’s so violent with rage that the team are afraid of them.
The stoic leader keeping everything bottled up, every injury hidden, every problem under wraps, because he so desperately feels like he has to protect the others. The rest of his team all thinks he’s a killjoy who takes things too seriously, but all of his behavior seems to make sense the day he finally breaks down (from pure stress, an injury, panic attack, etc) and he ends up repeating the words “I’m sorry” like a mantra, believing he’s failed them by not being strong enough.
Whumpee, newly rescued, lies in a bed with Caretaker by their side. Caretaker cups their cheek and softly says “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry we let this happen.”
“Please, I can’t do this,” Character B begs, shaky hands clutching a knife. Whumper chuckles slightly: “Would you rather me do it?” The prison cell smells of musk and the air is damp and suffocating. Character B looks back at Character A, who has their back pinned against the wall, eyes filled with fear. All Character B manages to say is “I’m sorry, this is for your own good.”
“I’m sorry,” Villain mumbled under their breath, looking directly down on the ground. “Pardon, I couldn’t hear you? Could you please just repeat that?” Hero’s voice was dripping with amusement, and they couldn’t help but smile while leaning against the doorway where Villain was now standing. “Hero, please,” Villain was more desperate than they’d ever been, clutching their side as another wave of pain washed over them. The grin on Hero’s face quickly turned into a frown: “No. You don’t have the right to barge in here and expect me to forget-“ Villain’s beath hitched at their raised voice and Hero’s eyes softened in realization- “Oh. You’re actually serious about this.”
The mug shattered as it hit the floor. “I-…I’m so sorry, I swear I didn’t mean to drop it, it just-“ Whumpee began shaking, stammering through their sentences as they bent down to frantically pick up the pieces of broken glass. “Hey, Whumpee, it’s fine, don’t worry.” Caretaker reached out and attempted to put a comforting hand on their shoulder, but Whumpee violenty flinched away: “I’ll do better, I swear-“ They looked up at Caretaker, eyes filled with terror- “I’m so sorry.”
- when Whumpee feels it coming, feels their head start to spin, it’s too late to sit down but maybe they can catch themselves before they fall (the heavy slam of a hand on the table as their knees threaten to buckle)
- when Whumpee doesn’t see it coming!! one second they’re fine, the next they’re on the floor trying to figure out what happened
- when Whumpee doesn’t see it coming but Caretaker does, launching themselves across the room to grab Whumpee before they smack their head off the furniture
- When no one sees it coming and Caretaker scrambles frantically to get to where Whumpee is now lying in a crumpled heap on the floor
- The 0 to 100: Whumpee drops like a puppet with its strings cut in the middle of a conversation
- The False Alarm: “Oh, i’m gonna- no wait it’s fine. Oh ack, no, not good- ok it’s fine. uh oh-“
- The “I Don’t Feel So Good”
- The “Oops I got up too fast”
and my personal favourite
- The “We were having a moment and i Fainted mid hug, my bad”
a whumpee who was forced by whumper to always asks permission before eating something is left alone in caretakers house with no form of communication to ask caretaker if they can eat something
Whumpee was waterboarded for months. They've refused to shower or bathe for the longest time, but Caretaker has finally, gently persuaded them into letting Caretaker help.
It starts very slow. Whumpee turns the tap on, dressed in a bathing suit or whatever they're comfortable in. Caretaker is in the room, careful to keep a watch on Whumpee.
Eventually, Whumpee decides to sit in the bath, in the shallow water. When they're ready, Caretaker half fills a jug, pouring the water on Whumpee's body at first whilst Whumpee's knuckles turn white clenching at the sides of the bath. Caretaker sings various songs whilst they do this to try and remind Whumpee of where they are.
The hair washing is the hard part. That requires Whumpee to tilt their head back, and for the most part, they manage, though their arms are shaking violently. Caretaker keeps singing, cautiously keeping an eye on any other signs that Whumpee is having a flashback, before carefully pouring the water over Whumpee's hair.
Whumpee jumps initially- quickly insisting that they're fine- before Caretaker gets some shampoo, beginning to massage it into Whumpee's hair. Whumpee begins to relax- shoulders not quite so tense, not trembling quite as much.
The second jug of water doesn't go as well as the first.
This time, Whumpee jumps, bringing their hands to their face as they begin to cry. Caretaker drops the jug as once, pulling Whumpee out of the bath and onto the towels.
"It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, you're here with me, it's Caretaker. You're safe. It's over. Its alright."
