"you can be 15 years old and also a terrible person" teenagers do stupid shit all the time, adults do stupid shit all the time, what matters is that you learn about that and that you don't let that define you. you are figuring out yourself and you never really stop doing that.
this is a thing i saw on tiktok and it's been bothering me forever and ever. okay yeah you took bad decisions/hurted people/etc. but that doesn't mean that you're destinated to hurt people or to be a bad person forever and ever. perhaps at the moment you thought what you were doing was good. perhaps you were trying to protect yourself. perhaps you just didn't know any better. perhaps you thought that it wouldn't be that bad. whatever thing you've might've done on the past doesn't define you in any sort of way. you are a human being and you will do a lot of mistakes until you die. putting yourself down won't help on anything. others putting you down doesn't mean anything. don't let your mistakes be something that defines you, but let them be a reminder that you're still here and that you can grow as a person.
if this breaches containment I'll be genuinely happy. be kinder to yourselfs. life is about growing and learning, not about punishing and denying.
Hate when I see someone say something like, "I wish they counted fanfiction as reading." And like, who is they? Who is the invisible audience dictating your life? You can do whatever you want.
Fyi, the point of this post is not if fanfiction counts as reading to you. It's that it doesn't matter either way. Not everything has to justified or quantified for you to do it.

“So…reporters are idiots,” Harris said delicately, looking back and forth between Shane and Ilya.
“And water is wet,” Ilya supplied, grinning.
“Actually technically,” Shane said to Ilya, frowning as he began to explain, but Harris cut him off, probably wanting to stop an unnecessary argument.
“There’s a new headline, about you two,” he said.
“Surprise?” Ilya said dryly, shrugging.
Harris chuckled but continued. “Yeah, um. We don’t have to do anything about it but I just wanted to let you know. See what you thought. So someone saw Ilya’s phone screen, I guess. When he was out with friends. And I guess you have Shane saved under a nickname? Because now rumor has it that you’re, uh, cheating…”
Both men were quiet for a long time before Shane spoke, his tone flat and annoyed. “Which one is it, Ilya?” He asked, turning to his husband.
Ilya, knowing how Shane would react, grinned. “Right now? Is zaychik. With heart emoji. Funny that reporter thought this was real name. Harris is right, he is an idiot.”
But Shane was too busy grimacing to notice. “Yeah, let them think he’s cheating. It’ll blow over eventually. We’re not telling the whole word you call me that.”
Ilya didn’t care at all what the public thought but he didn’t want to give up a chance to tease his husband. “Why?” He wheedled, laughing. “Is such a cute name, sweetheart! Reminds me of you!”
“What does it mean?” Harris asked, curiosity getting the better of him.
“Bunny,” Ilya answered as Shane winced.
Harris burst out laughing. “Ah, very…badass.”
Shane flipped him a finger and walked out to choruses of laughter.
