The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it

Quick reminder for fanfic writers both on here and ESPECIALLY on AO3…

If your main character has a name and described appearance, DO NOT use the character x reader tag. Like…seriously.

That is an OC. Use the “x oc” or “x original character” tag. Stop using the “x reader” tag. It will not give you more reach because people looking through the “x reader” tag aren’t going to read it. Three guesses why.

You are also making the filtering system null and void, which is harmful ESPECIALLY for archival sites like ao3 where the tags and filtering system are specifically there to make things easier. It’s basic fandom etiquette guys. Common sense and consideration for others. It won’t kill you to tag things correctly.

1. ai witch hunt is harming genuine writers as much as ai does, if not more. you are harming genuine writers as much as ai does, if not more.

2. ai was trained to mimic human-made works. if you think a work “looks like it was created by ai”, please ask yourself what you think ai was trained on and what you think it was trained to mimic.

3. re: this post and this post. you can never know for sure if a work was written by ai (no, ai checker doesn’t work, the machine itself is ai and unreliable). you can only guess based on vibes. so yes, there’s always a chance of you wrongly accusing a genuine writer who doesn’t use ai to create their works.

4. this is the exact reason genuine writers no longer share their works and why more and more genuine writers take their human-made works down.

5. no matter what you claim, I believe this can be considered harassment if what you’re doing results in people getting harassed, which is against ao3’s terms of service — meaning people can still report you for this.

with all that said, I believe this isn’t how collections on ao3 work anymore (so if anything, there’s a chance this is just troll/ragebait, which is shitty regardless). here’s how ao3 collections actually work now.

Captain Ava sat at the table inside of the interrogation room, staring at the woman on the other side. Ava didn't know why she felt a sick feeling settling in her stomach, this woman was no threat here; her wrists were cuffed to the table, same with her ankles to the floor, she had been search before being placed her. Maybe it was because the woman in front of her was Evelina Selah, E.D.E.N's best doctor, and, what the C.O.I mainly knew her by, the Butcher's Wife.

The two women sat in silence, neither wanting to break the fragile quiet after what the captain had told her. Evelina’s face sat in a neutral, almost bored expression, but it was the eyes; those light gray eyes held so much hate and anger that Ava had ever seen before.

“….He’s right…”, Evelina’s light voice spoke out, Ava’s face must have given away her confusion has she huffed then continued, “Simon, my husband, the one you call Convict, dehumanizing him so you won’t have to feel bad about sending him to his death in an iron coffin.”

I know this is a deeply American thing to say but I am begging everyone to stay the fuck away from military recruiters. Especially high school kids. You are going to be seeing an unholy amount of them in schools or around schools or literally anywhere kids are known to congregate. THIS INCLUDES ALL FORMS OF ROTC. Stay the fuck away from military recruiters. As someone who’s familiar with entirely too many branches through entirely too many friends and family, including my partner, recruiters are authorized to say literally any fucking thing they think will make you sign on that line. They cannot and will not deliver on those promises. They need bodies for the war they’re pretending is only now starting up again. That’s all you are. A body. Stay the FUCK away from the military.
