love Buffy to death but sometimes I just really want to scream at the screen “NONE OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT STOP TAKING ACCOUNTABILITY FOR EVERY SINGLE BAD THING”
This! Especially in S3 buffy is just taking responsibility for other people reactions/feelings/consequences.
Buffy takes her "lumps" for things that are not within her control at all. Which yes is what women are trained to do.
It makes s7 so refreshing because Buffy is The General, she is making her best choices with her limited resources. Unapologetically in charge of what she had given her life for- saving the goddamn world
Faith (in the ep Enemies): “I’m scared of what I’m turning into. A cold-blooded straight-up killer. Like you.”
Angel: “Not like me. I didn’t have a choice.”
The way I rolled my eyes. Like, dude, you told her she could come to you, because you could relate to being a killer. This is really not the time to be shirking responsibility and act all morally superior 🙄. I really can't with him.
And I want everyone who keeps citing 'Amends' at me, whenever I point out that he is one of the main perpetuators of the "me and Angelus are two different people" narrative, to keep this scene in mind. Cause he really filp-flops on the whole taking responsibility thing whenever he feels like it.
Apart from all of the writing inconsistencies (of which there are many), taking the split-personality thing at face value makes him a boring character to me. While it technically makes him more sympathetic it also makes him way less complex and not worth analyzing. But if he really is just pretending, to make himself look and feel better, then he is indeed more complex but also really manipulative and basically irredeemable.

you’re the only one strong enough to protect them
alright then
this is true for many btvs dynamics but part of the reason that buffygiles hits so hard is that their relationship is lovely and sweet and also pretty bad a lot of the time for a variety of reasons, but mainly that they're both incapable of expressing how much they actually care about each other. in an age of tv where every character is using therapy speak to perfectly communicate to the audience and to their scene partner exactly how they're feeling, realistically bad communication between two emotionally constipated weirdos, one of whom is a very traumatized young person and the other is a middle-aged british man, is honestly pretty refreshing.
"Willow, I got so lost."
"I found you. I will always find you."
Day eight ship two is Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay, aka, Twillow! 🧡🤍🩷
🎵 123 - Girlpool
Thinking about how the Buffy comics implied Willow caused Tara’s death by bringing back Buffy 🥲
thinking about the difference between melodramatic, moody angel telling buffy he wishes he could see her in direct sunlight vs. spike just straight up scurrying around Sunnydale with a blanket over his head whenever he gets bored and wants to see buffy during the day
i'd kill the man i am for one more chance to be yours, babe!
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER REWATCH -> A New Man (4.12)
take my buffy personality uquiz now or spike will NOT bite you <3
This can't be fucking real oh my god.
Aww they’re holding hands while she stakes him <3. This is romance!
He’s also wearing the ring of Amara on the ring finger of his left hand…lots to think about
Buffy the Vampire Slayer accidentally made a great representation of what grooming a teenager looks like from the victims friends perspective with Buffy and Angel.
Like, I remember unbeknownst to me watching my friend get groomed by a much older guy and I too was like "oooooo you like an older guy {:0" just like Willow.
Anyways Buffy x Angel being a serious ship will never not bug me, it's not like Twilight where he was turned at 17. He was turned into a vampire at 28. She's 16.
