its so nuts how some trainers are SOLELY about battling to the point that their pokemon don't know how to do anything else. even high profile battle mons do know how to do things other than battle, guys! and it's mostly things that are fun for them or tricks they like to do! e.g. Hammerlocke's flygon likes to make sand sculptures, all of Ballonlea's alcremie love to bake with people and Wyndon's Mr Rime loves to ice skate!

A bunch of new trainers really don't seem to get that tho??? And I get looked at as if I'M the weirdo when Prince gives kisses or does his little dancy dance?? I've even had one trainer fresh out a lab tell me I was a 'bad trainer' for not having 'control' over my pokemon, because Prince was doing his little dancy dance on the train (in his own seat, that I paid for, btw!)

like I get it Kevin, your froakie is very good at using bubble and is always focused on training, but does it even know what a hug is? Does your froakie have a hobby, Kevin? QUESTION. What is a good first Pokemon for someone not. Too interested in competitive battling or whatever. I'm curious and ALSO I want to know what kinds of Pokemon I should be looking at.

Got it. I guess the Route 1 equivalent for where I live would be. The one road out of town. Think there's a couple Rattata and Sentret around there... I'll add those to the list. Thank you ! :-)

Gotta disagree on the push towards the mammals.

Bird pokemon are amazing starters, especially for those not looking to get into competitive battling. Pidgey and pidove are the pokemon I recommend the most for a first pokemon! They're easy to train and care for while also still having decent battle capabilities, in case you want to still battle casually.

If you have other common bird pokemon in your area, lmk and I'll tell you if they'd be a good fit. Some birds are obviously a bit less fitting, just like any pokemon.

oh fuuuck I forgot. Yeah birds are pretty good as well! I was mostly discouraging bugs since they tend to have very specific care needs that people can easily overlook as they don’t express distaste in the same way humans do
