When I first read the book, I cried my eyes out. Not just because the story is beautiful (which it is), but because I'd never seen love like this represented in media before. A love like what I experience. A soul-encompassing love that can't exactly be called romantic, but that is undeniably and desperately real. What do you call a platonic soulmate? 🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵
If you haven't read the book but you loved the movie, I highly suggest reading it (or listening to the incredible audio audiobook narrated by Ray Porter!) There is so much depth to their relationship that couldn't be explored in a 2-hour film. Please, treat yourself to it <3
Adrian preparing food: “I was older than you before you left and now our age gap is wider isn’t that weird”
Rocky: “can yuo eat that in front of me”
In my mind the biggest difference between book Grace and movie Grace is that book Grace stopped waving at Rocky after a minute because ‘this could go on forever’ and movie Grace would absolutely keep waving forever if Rocky didn’t stop.
just pogged so hard cause one of the acting choices james ortiz made for rocky's puppet in the movie was having him tap the ground twice whenever he asked a question.
according to weir's worldbuilding docs, eridians tap the ground to better perceive their environment when there's no ambient noise for their passive echolocation (basically the auditory equivalent of squinting)
making the same gesture intentionally for communication physicalizes a request for information.
tap tap -> noise -> i can see
question -> response -> i understand
Rocky accidentally discovering gaslighting when he realizes he can just lie to Grace about stuff and Grace doesn’t have a strong enough memory to call him out for it
Rocky watch crew many days. Crew not wake up.
