These are just a few of the reasons I LOVE the LGBTQIA+ community so much!

It's always important to remember what being a part of a community like this means. For me personally it means home, it means love, friendship and safety but for millions of people across the world right now it's the opposite, with everything going on in the world (especially with the recent rulings in the UK and USA) it's easy to forget that not everyone has a safe space in the world, they're being persecuted and hated for just being themselves!

Remember people, be there, be seen, be careful, be proud but above all be kind!

comparisons between race and gender are always going to ultimately fail because theres a crucial difference between them, and that is that people can transition to be a different gender, but people cannot transition to be a different race

"men are like the white people of gender and women are like the black people of gender" will never be a valid comparison because the existence of transgender people complicates this analog to such a degree that the phrase becomes completely meaningless

and this analogy also completely disregards the existence of other races outside of black and white that it becomes a very shallow understanding of both sexism and racism as well, and how sexism and racism intersect

I think we all need a reminder that the word “theyfab” was originally created to hurt nonbinary people, specifically nonbinary people who use they/them and were (assumed to be) AFAB.

The word “theyfab” is exorsexist, first and foremost. It can also be transandrophobic, because some nonbinary people are transmasculine and it does occasionally get used against trans men. However, if you claim theyfab was invented as a slur for trans men first and foremost, you are erasing the experiences of another invisible community.

Trans men are treated terribly on here. But please don't contribute to the erasure of nonbinary people when you're fighting against transandrophobia. We’re in this together, and we need to have each other's backs.

Reminder that you don't have to call yourself AMAB or AFAB. You don't have to say "I'm AFAB nonbinary." Saying "I'm nonbinary" is enough. You don't need to identify with what you were assigned as by some doctor however many years ago. Mentioning your ASAB is scarcely relevant to most conversations, even those about medical transitioning.

Nonbinary is enough, you don't have to supplement it with a binary system of any kind. It doesn't matter how many people want to know your "transition direction." It doesn't matter how many people want to know what your genitals are (which wouldn't be alluded to by your assigned sex anyway). It doesn't matter how many people what to binarise you. It doesn't matter how many binary people you confuse. No one needs to binarise you. Nonbinary. Is. Enough.
