This is a hymn to Inana written by Enheduanna, daughter of Sargon of Akkad. She died in 2251 BCE.

In the Hymn she writes and exalts the powers of Inanna as she worked with her father to syncretize the Sumerian goddess with Ishtar the Assyrian goddess. Among her powers are the ability to turn men into women and women into men.

However our records of Inanna go back as far as 3500 BCE at the latest, since we’ve got pottery with images of her created that far back, and she might be more than 5,500 years old.

Her Gala priests wore women’s clothing and used women’s text regardless of their status at birth. Her temple guards wore men’s clothing and used men’s text regardless of their status at birth. That’s right. Trans women and Trans men, 5,500 years ago.

What’s more, there’s a legend of her trip to the Underworld to save her husband from Ereshkigal the queen of the dead. She gets trapped, there, and the gods create a new kind of human who is neither man nor woman to seduce Ereshkigal and give Inanna the time needed to gather her raiments and escape hell.

Ereshkigal curses the nonbinary person and all who come after them to be outsiders viewed as strange and weird by their people. Inanna blesses them with magic and foresight.

So Nonbinary people have also existed for around 5,500 years.

Ragatha isn’t present because her design was giving me trouble, she’s just so simple/human that it can be difficult to translate. Ntm I don’t think Irken clothes would have patches generally.

Caine’s design was giving me trouble too. I know it’s a pretty drastic departure, but hopefully he’s still looks enough like himself. I know what his eye color is, but with everything else I think the color ratios were getting thrown off and he just looked better with blue and red.

"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is

Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.

Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.

You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.

Sex is not what makes someone an adult.

Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.

Sex is not equally important to everyone.

You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.

You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.

Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.

The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.

Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.

in the past i've described my experience of being an ace with a sex drive as being hungry with no appetite, but actually my experience is more like being hungry and never going out to eat because i always have all the tools and ingredients to make exactly what i want, exactly how i want it, at home. i don't want other people in my kitchen and i certainly don't want to be in anyone else's kitchen. love reading about fictional kitchens, though.
