really thankful to the writers of bs for sticking the landing so profoundly in terms of turning the consequences of the storyâs ending into a haunting that lasts forever
to END a show that is in some ways about love and betrayal with a character intentionally destroying what love heâs painstakingly earned through betrayal and thereby not only ruining the lives of those he loves and those who love him but also his own life forever and ever extending into a shapeless pitiless eternity. to me thatâs cinema to me thatâs art
not to mention the total commitment to making silver (potentially) deeply unlikeable by the end & to genuinely and honestly pose the question as to whether he is the villain in the story in a way thatâs grounded by his final crime and by the themes theyâve engaged with throughout the narrative. they had an idea and they executed it with integrity & without compromise
Finally saw Everything Everywhere All At Once tonight, and at dinner before the movie I said, "I'm so ready for Ke Huy Quan to be my new favorite actor -- old-new, since I loved him as Data and Short Round back in the day."
My housemate was like, "Don't jump the gun there, buddy."
But BOY WAS I RIGHT. Not only was Ke Huy perfect, but Waymond is my new fave character, jfc, he's the God damned best thing to happen to anybody.
I love him so much.
Also holy shit man, just casually be James Bond over there for a moment, saying the most important things like it's nothing, blowing me away, sheesh.
Also so much *sob-crying* by the end because this trend of movies about healing family trauma is the best trend in the world and gets me every fucking time, jfc.
THANK GOD it won all the oscars.
"Harm you? DAMN you! I want to run howling through the world with you like a pack of wild dogs."

No but honestly this play is fucking incredible. A two-hander, just Will and Kit, and it's all the ship fodder you could want and all the angst too. My heart is still racing- I finished it 15min ago.
Shakes peops, you will LOVE it.
Born With Teeth, by Liz Duffy Adams
Thank me later. :*

Darlings, Iâve only dropped in to tell you that Iâm rewatching Jeremy Brettâs Sherlock Holmes on BritBox and really. I canât stand how ridiculously obvious it was that that wonderful man was bisexual. JFC. He couldnât for the life of him sit in a chair like a normal ass person, like, ever. Literally every scene in Baker Street heâs doing something odd in his chair, or on the couch, usually with at least one foot up in some weird gremlin-y configuration. Sherlock Holmes was clearly Distinguished Bi, but Jeremy GD Brett was Disaster Bi all the way.Â

A few years ago, when I was living in the housing co-op and looking for a quick cookie recipe, I came across a blog post for something called âNorwegian Christmas butter squares.â Iâd never found anything like it before: it created rich, buttery and chewy cookies, like a vastly superior version of the holiday sugar cookies Iâd eaten growing up. About a year ago I went looking for the recipe again, and failed to find it. The blog had been taken down, and it sent me into momentary panic.Â
Luckily, I remembered enough to find it on the Wayback Machine, and quickly copied it into a file that Iâve saved ever since. I probably make these cookies about once a month, and they last about five days around my voracious husband - theyâre fantastic with a cup of bitter coffee or tea. Iâm skeptical that there is something distinctively Norwegian about these cookies, but they do seem like the perfect thing to eat on a cold day.Â
Norwegian Christmas Butter Squares
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 egg 1 cup sugar 2 cups flour 1 tsp vanilla œ tsp salt Turbinado/ Raw Sugar for dusting
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Chill a 9x13âł baking pan in the freezer. Do not grease the pan.
Using a mixer, blend the butter, egg, sugar, and salt together until it is creamy. Â Add the flour and vanilla and mix using your hands until the mixture holds together in large clumps. If it seems overly soft, add a little extra flour.Â
Using your hands, press the dough out onto the chilled and ungreased baking sheet until it is even and Œ inch thick.  Dust the top of the cookies evenly with raw sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees until the edges turn a golden brown, about 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven. Let cool for about five minutes before cutting the cooked dough into squares. Remove the squares from the warm pan using a spatula.
So I tried this recipe.
And it is GREAT.
It basically makes the platonic ideal of commercial sugar cookies, only in bar form. When I give them to people (which I do a lot, because this is one of those simple recipes where the results seem very impressive), I just tell them theyâre sugar cookie bars.
Life hack: add white chocolate chips and sea salt
I made these today for the equinox with sea salt caramel chips and they are simply amazing. Letâs see how long they last with six people in the house!
Noting for later (as we need more butter for this, and probably wonât do a grocery shopping till the weekend).
The OP version of this has become my go-to cookie for basically all things and I have a whole cohort of friends and colleagues who would murder each other to get them. Havenât tried any add ons yet, since the base recipe is SO GOOD.
Iâve reblogged this before and Iâm reblogging it again because Iâm about to make it again tomorrow and I wanted to add my own tale of just how amazingly delicious it. it was SO incredibly simple to bake and with an extra dusting of brown sugar on top and served warm and soft they gift you with the taste of the nectar of the gods when paired with a small glass of milk. this image is from when I first made them a couple years ago:
GO. MAKE THESE !!!!

The Amber Ruffin Show (May 21, 2021)
Mercutio lives!
May I have your attention PLEASE
I'm here because a post I just saw triggered me and now I have to write about how much I love Tom Hardy so stick around for this.
Tom Hardy has always understood the assignment. As someone in that Venom post said, he literally goes balls to the walls.
Warrior
Tommy Riordan
Tommy Riordan is an ex war "hero" who went AWOL and changed his name. He became a ring fighter, like his brother, fighting all the way to the top just to kill his brother in the ring. This whole movie is emotional because we see Tommy go thought some extreme hardships like dealing with his past, his father's drinking relapse, and his war crime. Tom Hardy did a fantastic job, and personally left me wincing every time he knocked someone out.
Bronson
Charles (Charlie) Bronson
When I say Tom freaked me the fuck out in this movie, I mean, I was thinking about this movie for DAYS after watching it. It really fucked with me.
Charles Arthur Salvador, better known as Charles Bronson, is a British criminal who has been referred to in the British press as the "most violent prisoner in Britain" and "Britain's most notorious prisoner". He has spent periods detained in the Rampton, Broadmoor and Ashworth high-security psychiatric hospitals.
Tom really understood how to embody the psychotic nature of Charles Bronson without making it gimmicky.
The Dark Knight Rises
Bane
Always has been my personal favorite. Tom really embodies the merciless Mercenary. People hated on him that he 'wasnt big enough' but Tom went all out for Bane. He bulked up pounds for Bane in such an unhealthy manner that he is STILL recovering. Bane truely is a formidable foe and Tom excels at causing fear with everything he does.
Legend
Ronnie and Reggie Kray
Tom is FANTASTIC. His performance as Ronnie was unforgettable. You could see two completely different people from the same actor, interacting with each other. Playing two of the most notorious crime bosses in the UK during the 1960's is hard, especially if you're doing both on ur own. Ronnie is psychotic, Reggie somewhat level headed, and Tom manages to capture the two of them so perfectly.
Venom
Eddie Brock/Venom
Venom is a masterpiece because it's NOT like other superhero movies. We don't get to see the hero become famous and known world wide. Eddie doesn't join some kind of super hero team. He doesn't get the girl. He can't save everyone. He's helpless, scared, sick, and has a carnivorous alien inside of him. Tom went absolutely crazy with Eddie and I think that's why I love his version of Eddie Brock better than Topher Grace in Sam Raimi's Spider-man 3.
When it's all said and done, Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor and if you complain that he's too 'over the top' then you need to rethink your choice in actors because Tom Hardy is what every actor should aspire to be. Passionate. Determined. Happy.
Thankyou for this
I really enjoy Tomâs acting.
Particularly enjoyed him as Bob Saginowski in The Drop - a mild mannered, protective, dog loving two time killer. It was something.
FTR, I cried my eyes out over Warrior. But I feel compelled to remind everyone he was fucking fantastic in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
